Open Thread: Obama Inserts Himself Into History

By Matthew Sheffield | May 16, 2012 | 10:18

Matthew Sheffield's picture

It probably wasn't his decision (one hopes not) but the latest update to the White House website is really quite embarrassing: It appears that people have gone into the site's biographies of the past 9 presidents and inserted electioneering material touting President Obama into them. As chronicled by IBD's Andrew Malcom:

It was probably to be expected from a monstrous political ego that considers himself among the top two presidents of the 21st century.

But faced with the apparently frightening possibility of losing his reelection bid, Barack Obama has inserted himself into the online White House bios of almost every president in the last nine decades. To somehow share and compare their achievements. At one point Obama even draws his wife into the biographical additions.

It would be funny if it wasn't so hilarious. Remember the grandiose but short-lived little party hats that Richard Nixon designed for his special presidential guard unit?

Imagine the emotional insecurities of a grown man who would have henchman find and gratuitously insert even the faintest link between this 44th president and almost every president back to Calvin Coolidge --"On Feb. 22, 1924 Calvin Coolidge became the first president to make a public radio address to the American people.....President Obama became the first president to hold virtual gatherings and town halls."

Franklin D. Roosevelt -- "On August 14, 1935, President Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act. Today the Obama Administration continues to protect seniors and ensure Social Security will be there for future generations."

Herbert Hoover -- "President Herbert Hoover signed the bill founding the Department of Veterans Affairs July 21, 1930. President Obama is committed to making sure that the VA, the second-largest cabinet department, serves the needs of all veterans and provides a seamless transition from active duty to civilian life,..."

The arrogance of whoever directed these insertions is incredible. Sadly we'll never likely know as the self-proclaimed mainstream media is unlikely to

Here's Obama at the meeting in Yalta. And here he is taking part in the celebration of V-J Day. (By the way, there is a Tumblr page by the RNC that has similar photoshopped images with Obama inserted. They take a different approach than I in their message, but someone had the same thought I did on the V-J Day photo. Though they used the Life version. After I had posted mine on Twitter yesterday.)

Well, Woodrow Wilson was a segregationist, so I'm not surprised Obama doesn't want to be associated with him. They did miss a great opportunity though. They could have added: "Woodrow Wilson hosted KKK rallies on the White House lawn. Now, the First Black American President (is that trademarked yet?), Barrack, Obama makes daily strolls across the same lawn thus bridging the gap between the races."

Woodrow Wilson was also a horrible narcissist.

Submitted by drsamherman on Wed, 05/16/2012 - 1:43pm.

In medical school and in residency, two psychiatry faculty used Woodrow Wilson as an example of narcissism. It wasn't necessarily referred to as a "personality disorder" back then, but instead taught in the Freudian ego sense. There were many terms, but the one that comes to mind would be "Messiah complex". Woodie always fancied himself the Messiah riding out to save the masses from their own stupidity, and he was perpetually baffled because others saw right through him and refused to be enablers of the behavior. They also saw right through his inept handling of many domestic situations. Overall, he was only popular among Democrats, but only in the sense that they held the office and they thought he could not do too much damage. As it stands, the American electorate was more than ready to jettison him after the war ended.

Can you imagine the liberal uproar that would have happened if any Republican had done this? I can already hear people like Mathews screaming about the Republican Ministry of Truth. But I can predicted that when these "biographies" are edited by the next Republican administration to remove the inappropriate references to Obama, the liberals will be screaming Racism at the top of their lungs.

This latest and most pitiful attempt to hide Ears' enormous failures from view is just plain buffoonish. Ears, one of the worst narcissists in history, has turned us into an international laughing stock, for one thing. And then there's the spending - instead of putting the brakes on it, he and his fellow Spend-o-crats have "mashed the gas" and are taking us right off the cliff. Yet the make believe media toadies don't see anything wrong with any of this stuff!

Silky Pony will walk

Submitted by ricklail on Wed, 05/16/2012 - 1:52pm.

The defense has rested in the case of the Breck Boy. They never called his daughter, his concubine nor him. They believe like I belive the government didn't make its case. It seems that the money from the donors was not for the campaign. If that is the case it seems like they would have a tx evasion case against him. I feel right now that he is going to walk. The jury has seem he is a worthless POS scumbag but there is no law against that or 2/3 of the Commiecrats and 1/3 of Republicans would be guilty.

The Commiecrats have waged war on conservative women for years but nobody seems to want talk about that. Just ask Palin or Bachmann for instance
