Fox News Won’t Fire Liberal Contributor for ‘White Boy’ Insult
While its leftist critics continually ignore them, Fox News Channel employs a number of liberal commentators. Unfortunately, it is continuing to stand by one of them, Democratic strategist Jehmu Greene, who insulted Daily Caller editor Tucker Carlson as a “bow-tying white boy.”
Greene, former national director of the liberal group Project Vote, made the insult during a debate with Carlson on last Thursday’s “America Live” show and has since apologized privately, however in an interview with Accuracy in Media, the network did not indicate that Greene would face further repercussions for her racist outburst.
Story Continues Below Ad ↓
There is no indication that her financial relationship with Fox News has suffered as a result of the racial outburst.
“Jehmu apologized to Tucker by phone after the segment,” Irena Briganti, Group Senior Vice President at FOX News Channel & FOX Business Network, tells Accuracy in Media.
This is apparently the end of the matter for Fox News.
Greene is one of several liberal commentators whom FNC has added recently including Santita Jackson, daughter of disgraced activist Jesse Jackson, as a response to criticism that it did not have a sufficient number of left-of-center voices on the network.
The racist insult came in the context of a debate with Carlson over the controversy surrounding Massachusetts Democrat Elizabeth Warren and her claims to be of partial American Indian descent based upon a family legend. According to Warren’s critics, she used that family legend as a basis of claiming to be a racial minority, thereby potentially gaining preferential treatment under affirmative action policies.
In the debate, Greene defended Warren and attacked Carlson for promoting a distraction.
“To question this woman on her qualifications is going to be something that does appeal to folks like you,” Greene said. “Voters like you, bow-tying white boys. But at the end of the day it is going to backfire.”
Carlson reacted strongly to Greene’s insult saying that she could “use name calling all you like but you’re ignoring the truth.”
Greene appeared to be unaware that she had used a racial slur, responding immediately that she “didn’t call you a name.”
Later in the segment, “America Live” host Megyn Kelly apologized to viewers who were subjected to the remark:
“I want to apologize to Tucker and to our viewers for that. I wasn’t sure I heard what I thought I heard. And now I have confirmed—it was that. It wasn’t consistent with our standards and I do apologize on behalf of the program.”

Remember how NPR fired Juan Williams? Jehmu Greene is not the only obnoxious liberal on the channel. They still have Alan Colmes. Their petulance speaks for itself and serves only to hurt their cause.
Firing Jehmu Greene would have a lot of left wing blow back. At least her diatribes are balanced by a conservative commentator on FOX.

But allowing her a pass on this will set a precedent that ANY liberal can insult a conservative and get away with it.

She'll probably and should end up on Bill O'Reilly, if so, he'll insult her back..that's usually how it goes if a story like this that involves Foxnews commentators is big...I wouldn't cry and boycott every time somebody says white boy or black boy and defends Obama and his dirty clan on Fox News..having a view that supports yours and mine is and should be good enough..she apologized to Tucker so it's be Godly and accept that...but still she needs to apologize to the other bow tie wearing conservative white boys who she insulted haha

Jem-hooo needs to publicly apologize, on Megyn's show, to Tucker Carlson if she wishes to remain on the air.
I've more or less gotten to the point w/Fox that I won't watch any segment with her, nor that Chuckie Shumer clone. About the only show I watch faithfully is Cavuto. I don't even watch Bret Baier much any longer.
So turning Fox off completely is no big deal. I suppose I should let them know that, huh?

I agree. She needs to apologize to Tucker and the audience ON THE AIR.
I do think that the audience seeing this kind of thing further cements (for those viewers unaware) the Left's hypocrisy, so I have no problem with them remaining on air, unless they really just go so far afield with what they say that it becomes non-airable.
That said, I usually have to mute many of them because I can't stomach it.

I watched this happen, live, and was appalled. Carlson says to Greene, don't call me names. And, bald-faced lying, Greene says, as her breathing rate triples, I didn't call you a name.
Bull Effin' Shins
Kelly apologizing (on behalf of Greene?) and saying she didn't hear it (another bull effin' shins on Kelly) was nauseating.
Greene is routinely cut-throat with her handy-dandy, provided-by-the-White-House litany of lies. That she can be taken seriously is confounding. She queues up the Obama talking points, and beats her gums non-stop, always interrupting, always talking over people.
She's gotta go. And Megyn's ears need some serious swabbing before her show. Still find it hard to believe she didn't hear.
If they're going to retain Greene, Greene had better apologize, on-air, with Tucker Carlson sitting in the other chair. And if she apologizes, it had better be of the sincere variety, none of this... IF i offended anyone...

You hit upon one of my pet peeves. I really hate that often-used but never-appreciated fake apology -- the ole "sorry if I offended you" or "sorry if what I said made you feel..." junk.
I truly would rather someone NOT "apologize" at all if they do that because it's essentially a way for people to NOT accept reponsibility and worm their way out of really apologizing. Ugh. That always ticks me off.

When you think about it, is Fox really part of the "new" media anymore? Sure, I consider it balanced, but they haven't covered some key stories lately. While I still watch "Fox and Friends", their use of background sound effects and personal banter ("It's Bryan Kilmeade's birthday today! Let's stop covering serious news!") make me wince, as if they are some sort of breakfast crew from a Top 40 radio station.

I do not agree that anyone should be fired for that type of speech either on air or not. But the fact remains that Green gets a pass where Carlson would definitely not have.
Perhaps we all need to let FoxNews know that they are perpetrating this double standard by not requiring Ms. Green to make an on-air appology, not just to Carlson, but to all their viewers. Maybe this is a teachable moment? Maybe Geraldo should have a special that explors the racism that is present in the black community? Yeah, like that is going to happen.

I am amused by how many people would turn off Fox until they got rid of Greene, as if they would go to CNN or MSNBC for "fair and balanced" news. But I do agree that her statement is based more on bigotry than abject racism. As long as she apologized to Carlson that should end the matter, and usually does among responsible, ADULT stations like Fox.
Should we treat Fox any differently than MSNBC, just because it is the only news station which puts out reasonably balanced positions? I'm not sure, but for now, every time Greene comes on, I'll just put my filter in place that I do for anyone who uses ad hominem attacks, either from the right or the (albeit overwhelmingly) left.

I sent an E-Mail to Ms. Briganti telling her that FNC had just lost a viewer until I see somewhere on the internet that Jehmu Greene has made a public apology to Tucker Carlson and to the viewing audience of FNC for her despicable racial slurs aimed at Tucker Carlson. I don't care if she keeps her job, we do have the right to free speech, but to say something so offensive without apologizing is just plain wrong. I have not seen her since the remark. I wonder if she is serving some sort of suspension.

She's out buying Tucker some more bow ties. She apparently didn't realize he doesn't wear them anymore.

"Getting Away With It"

Greene may have dis'd Tucker, but I don't think that Fox News is going to let anyone get away with anything. If Fox plays this right, you could possible (and god, hopefully) see them putting an end to the PC Bulls***t, and that anytime someone opens their mouth, they are offending someone. This crap has to end.
The left talks about tolerance, what tolerance? The only time they are tolerant of someone 'else’s' acts, deeds or language is when they are in conformance and agreement of their standards, and even those are not consistent. When it comes to a conservative, they strive to make up the rules as they go along.
So no, Fox is 'letting' Greene get away with this comment, Fox is practicing what everyone on the left is preaching, TOLERANCE.
I think Fox should keep the racist commie on the air

Don't fire her
Submitted by Model850 on Tue, 05/08/2012 - 4:47pm.
I don't think Fox should fire her. That's the knee-jerk, apoplectic reaction of a majority on the left when they are "offended."
However I do think an on-air, public apology is in order. She made the bigoted, spiteful comment in public and although apologized to Tucker (in private) she needs to apologize to all the viewers in the same venue as she committed the offense.
Calling Tucker after the show and apologizing is not much better than those who make offensive comments on TV and then offer up an "apology" on Twitter. Plenty of people who witnessed the offense don't monitor Twitter feeds or slavishly "follow" all these TV pundits on it. So plenty of people never even realize an apology was made.

I fast forward whenever Greene talks

because she adds nothing new to the W.H. liberal talking points. Her comments are as predictable as any other female liberal. She always has to shoehorn the socialist 'equal pay for equal work' mantra into every appearance.
No Surprise here, Fox News is not

CNN, MSNBC or NPR with their liberal nonsense of banning phrases or words and firing offenders. I am sure someone pulled Greene aside for a talking to. It is obvious she is a racialist.
I bet they'd fire Tucker..........

..........if he said "lip gloss wearing black women." Bank it. And no I'm not advocating the firing of Greene at all.
I say keep her on

This woman revealed to the entire nation, on national TV, what many if not most of these liberals think and say behind closed doors. We need more of this type of honest disclosure on TV so the average american can be more informed as to what type of people exist on the various sides of the national debate. Punishing her would make it appear that this is an isolated incident of someone spewing racial hatred in a moment anger (it's not). Allowing her to continue unabated will give her the impression that she can continue being true to her own racist feelings and perhaps she will reveal even more of her lack of character for the entire world to see.
