No way I'm giving the hacks at PMSNBC any viewing. I'm still trying to figure out why the spineless fools that run Republican primaries let them have the debate in the first place, and at the REAGAN LIBRARY for the love of God.
Liberals have GOT to be yukking it up over that one.

. . . evident that Brian Williams sees this event as a debate between the GOP candidates and himself. It is not the role of a moderator to challenge the debaters, but to pose issues and let the debaters challenge each others positions and claims.
This is why MSM news readers and so-called journalists shuld not be moderators.
A libertarian friend asked me
Submitted by amyshulk on Wed, 09/07/2011 - 8:44pm.
A libertarian friend asked me who I felt good about, and I just started typing, and came out with:
Except for bragging on himself, I liked Pawlenty as being good for US - ALL of US!!!
NO to Huntsman - Obama in slow motion. In fact, he's the epitome of a Rino!!!
NO to Cain - all hat, no cattle. We already tried no experience/says all the right things, and look where it got us!!!
NO to Santorum - we need a leader, not a whiner!!!
NO to Romney, but my sis, who voted for Obama, would have voted for him instead last go round. Not sure now? If he stated and understood gov't is the problem, and *meant* it, I'd bite my tongue
Paul - he gets a lot of it right, but I don't quite understand his foreign policy?
Bachmann - seriously? After what the D's did to Hilary, it will be decades before we're ready for a female CIC!!!
Newt - talk about a wonk!!! Disaster though. Cabinet member, MAYBE.
Gary Johnson - he also says good things, but they {R's} aren't ready to deal with the reality of the disaster the war on drugs has created - an entirely self-inflicted, sometimes mortal, wound btw - so I can't see him getting the nod.
McCotter - he's one of my favorite congresscritters, his dry wit is sublime, but I can't see it for him either.
Perry is the "it" guy right now, and if it sticks, I won't have to bite my tongue to vote for him.
So I guess I don't like anyone either, lol!!!

Submitted by amyshulk on Thu, 09/08/2011 - 5:58am.
No, no inside info on Pawlenty, just a gut feeling I had when I first saw him. Not as strong as the one I got on Nixon right before he went down {I was what, 8? I walked into the room and he was talking on tv and I got this weird chill and blurted out "Bad man"} or the ones I'd get on basketball and football games <--- hit a 10 card parley.
Just if it came down to Huntsman, Romney, or Pawlenty, he's head and shoulders above them IMO.

Submitted by amyshulk on Thu, 09/08/2011 - 6:03am.
To clarify, I mean in understanding the byzantine rules of gov't. and I think he has too much in common with Obama in that lack of understanding.
Do I think he'd far surpass Obama? In a landslide!!!
My list was more an assessment of what I *think* voters see, from the bits the msm filters through, rather than my personal opinion.

It isn't that I don't care, but I don't live in one of the select few eastern states which gets to decide who our president is. So seeing as I don't get much of a vote till it is decided I don't see much point other than just criticizing Obummer some more on internet forums.

Submitted by Gat New York on Wed, 09/07/2011 - 8:59pm.
I think this debate will take Rick Perry down a peg which was inevitable. He flew in at the last minute from the disaster in Texas and he probably should have stayed away tonight which would have been understandable.
I like Newt nailing the moderators for being tools of Obama.
Hunstman has shown better tonight than previously.
As far as a winner tonight? Good luck picking one.

The media has been on a Romney/Perry showdown kick, and they made sure to give them as much air as possible tonight.
Newt has no chance BUT, I want him staying as long as possible, because he brings things to the table that creates discussion that may not otherwise happen.
Cain is great, and he is quickly learning this "game." He's come a long way since first debate and subsequent interviews. I think he's genuinely interested in getting more understanding. If anyone thinks a president can and should know everything, good luck. That's moronic, but most Americans seem to think so.
Second that sentiment!

I'd like to see the time given to each candidate.
Submitted by Kingfish17 on Wed, 09/07/2011 - 10:11pm.
It's obvious that the two moderators were out to nail Perry, first and foremost. Every question directed to Ron Paul, (who I am a fan of from a theoretical level, but not a practical level), was totally different then all the other questions aimed at all the other candidates, and designed solely to make Paul out to be a kook.
Softball questions to Huntsman, and a ton of time and questions given to Huntsman, who came off looking good after the debate. Just paraphrasing, but they actually asked Huntsman to say which of his opponents on the stage was the biggest kook. When Huntsman wouldn't say that Perry was, the guy from Politico made it quite clear that that's what he was driving at when he put his next question to Perry about how he could deny that global warming was basically a fact, and asked Perry to site scientists by name who disagreed with man-made global warming.
I that it was ridiculous how the commentator framed evolution as a "Science" and not just a Theory.
I also loved how the audience applauded when Williams mentioned that Texas has executed 200+ criminals under Perry's governorship. It was obvious that the applause were to rub it in Williams face, (and Williams knew it was, too). Williams asked Perry if he lost any sleep about the possibility of any of those executions being done against innocent people. Perry of course, said no. If Perry wins the Republican nomination, watch for NBC to dig up some ridiculous far fetched evidence that Texas executed a possibly innocent person while Perry was governor, and replay the Perry clip over and over again, about how he didn't lose any sleep at night.

Vote for the American in November
Why?
Submitted by Gat New York on Wed, 09/07/2011 - 10:44pm.
Why on Earth would the Republican Party ever have agreed to having MSLSD host this debate?
This was a joke. It centered on Romney and Perry and to a lesser degree Huntsman and Bachmann and left people like Santorum, Paul, Cain, and Newt in the dust.
As Newt pointed out the questions were exceptionally biased.
Not that anyone actually watches, but the post debate "analysis" (ha ha) was a circus of idiots. If you were looking for comedy watching Sharpton, Ed, Maddow, and Tweetie attempt to analyze rather than demonize ws humerous to watch.
It was a waste of a night and a debate.
Bad job by the inquisititors (moderators).
Oh no no no

I saw that analysis was coming. Let's see, a group of Socialists analyzing a group of conservatives (well almost all of them).
Socialists. If they actually loved the Constitution they will claim to, they would not be Socialists, plain and simple.
And Sharpton on the panel? That's got circus written all over it. There couldn't be a bigger clown on a "news" network.

Perry is the one that won. Hunstman-Lame. Santorum-weak and lame. Romney-lame. Bachmann-eh...nice try. Gingrich-well, we know how that will end, but let him keep attacking moderators. Cain-ok, but he won't make it.
Brian came off wimpy asking Perry about sleeping at night.

I thought Newt won the debate
Submitted by Ryan Mc. on Thu, 09/08/2011 - 8:42am.
I thought Newt won the debate as he was full of great comments. He handled the moderators and stayed on message. I doubt he'll win and I was hoping he'd just get out before the last debate. This debate and the last one leave me wanting more. He's the only guy I felt like represented me of the whole group.
Perry was underwelming. He paused and looked confused a lot. He better get a lot faster on his feet or he will be pegged GW II.
Huntsman was full of nothing comments like "I'll do it like I did it in Utah" or "we have to do it smarter". These are democrat like comments. No substance and nothing to evaluate. The science comment about 98% support for global warming was offensive. Where is his proof of that made up stat? Does science mean putting matters up to a vote? The idea that he and Brian Williams could smuggly state that "deniers" were anti-science because they lost the "science" vote shows they have no idea what science is.
Paul was Paul. He is really showing his years. Even if I liked all of his comments I think he's too old to run. I think the questions he was asked were extremely loaded and unfair.
Bachman was ok, but that's the problem. I need a house member to be great to get behind her.
Cain- I really want to like him but he was a bit too much like Huntsman. He had a lot of "we can do better" comments. I didn't get the 9-9-9 thing. You need to explain that better before assuming everyone visits your website. I like his positions but I can't see him winning a single primary much less a general election.
Santorum- great guy, no chance.
Romney- I think he did well and might have put himself back into first place after his performance. He was clear and concise. He had conservative answers. I still don't trust him and I know we'd be electing GW/McCain. I want a real conservative and he's not it.
Moderators- I agree with those above who thought they were ridiculous. The science questions, the mocking Bachman with $2 gas, every question to Paul, asking candidates loaded questions about another candidate rather than asking the candidate himself, the loaded misleading comment so they could correct the false premise. Other than Newt I was dissappointed the others didn't challenge the questions. Santorum got a question about faith that was totally ridiculous about the poor. He bought the premise which I found offensive. His answer was pretty good but why accept the Republican's are evil greedy devils assumption?
Romney the clear winner
Submitted by cbeyer on Thu, 09/08/2011 - 9:17am.
Before this debate I was leaning towards Perry but have now swung to Romney.
Evaluation:
Romney: Very presidential.....aggressive and effective at going after the real target....Obama. Clearly the best in the debate. Always kept his cool.
Perry: Answers imprecise. Social Security as a Ponzi scheme Whether it is or not...bad answer)? Did not do poorly but did not impress either.
Newt: No chance for nomination but thoughtful, bright answers and great job of exposing the bias at NBC...KUDOS!
Huntsman: Loves man made global warming and evolution. A liberal in sheeps clothing.
Bachmann: Poor overall performance. $2.00 per gallon gas fiasco stupid.
Cain: Good job overall but a bit imprecise.
Santorum: Whiny and un presidential.
Paul: Again exposed as a nutjob as are his followers. 6% in national polls but a loud dedicated support base of libertarians and isolationists.
Romney
Submitted by Kingfish17 on Thu, 09/08/2011 - 9:50am.
If Romney had no history, he'd be a shoe-in. If conservatives and the squishy middle could trust that he would deliver everything he talked about, he would win in a landslide. He's pretty good in a debate, he's careful not to screw up, he's polished, and he looks presidential. There's no doubt that he would beat Obama, easily.
He is, however, the quintessential politician. I wish he was a pure conservative. I hold out hope that he understands that he needs to be a solid conservative to turn the country around.

R- Debate “The Official Grump-Analysis”
Submitted by Grumpy in Arizona on Thu, 09/08/2011 - 11:07am.
Source: “The Grumpy Center for Advanced Studies (GCAS)”
Motto of the GCAS: “This space for rent- CHEAP!”
OVERVIEW:
For you MC&G enthusiasts, the debate was held in the pavilion at 34°15′34″N/118°49′11″W - known to the rest of us as “The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.”
For Architecture enthusiasts, the library was designed by Hugh Stubbins and Associates and includes the "Ronald Reagan Pub" which was once the original “O’Farrell’s Pub” brought to the library from Ballyporeen in the Rep. of Ireland… which (in my unbiased opinion) was likely good news for those in the audience who could take a break from the incoherent ramblings of Ron Paul and go get a beer while waiting for the sane people to speak.
THE MODERATOR/QUESTIONERS:
MODERATORS? HA! There was no resemblance to anything objective and moderate about those leftist clowns – which is appropriate because they turned the entire evening into a circus… and not a very good circus at that. They (Politico Editor-in-chief John F. Harris and NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams) are not fit to carry the title of reporter or journalist… they proved themselves to be nothing more than Democrat operatives out to defend Obama and bring dissent into the Republican ranks.
Then there was Telemundo's Jose Diaz-Balart whose sole contribution was to ask moronic and smart-ass gotcha questions about illegal immigration, for the singular purpose of advancing the Democrat agenda. Just shameful!
Participants/Analysis: The entire evening was a waste of time, so there is no point in reviewing the participant’s contributions and positions on the issues because the event was not a “debate” designed by NBC and Politico to provide solid information to the public, but rather a two hour expose of “the horrible people” who would challenge NBC’s beloved Obama.
However, an overall impression is in order:
Michele Bachmann – Didn’t hurt or help herself.
Herman Cain – Mostly ignored by the moderator goons… no help to his campaign, but his presence and few answers didn’t hurt
Newt Gingrich – Actually was the “star” of the evening because he took-on the obvious bias of the presenters… He might have helped his campaign.
Jon Huntsman – The “darling” of the moderators… which tells you everything you need to know about him.
Ron Paul – His usual rambling self, but (I hate to admit it) his final answer about how being a “constitutional-originalist” does not mean that one is anti-people was outstanding.
Rick Perry – He called his own role in the debate correctly: “Piñata.”
Mitt Romney – Didn’t hurt himself, but didn’t help himself either.
Rick Santorum – Like Herman Cain, he was mostly ignored… Unlike Cain, his presence was hardly noted.
Overall it was a sad evening for conservatism.
