Weiner Resigns: Will Media Lament His Departure?
Update: 14:30: Weiner made it official moments ago with these words:
"I had hoped to be able to continue the work that the citizens of my district elected me to do, to fight for the middle class and those struggling to make it. Unfortunately, the distraction that I have created has made that impossible."
Video and earlier post follows...
Now that his wife has returned to the country, embattled Democratic representative Anthony Weiner is expected to resign his position as a member of the House of Representatives, despite his earlier refusal to do so:
Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) will resign from his seat in Congress, heeding calls from President Barack Obama, House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and dozens of other congressional Democrats, sources confirm to POLITICO. The resignation ends nearly three weeks of tumultuous political controversy since the New York congressman sent a lewd picture of himself over Twitter which he claimed at first was a result of a hack, and later admitted he had sent himself.
According to two sources, Weiner made up his mind to resign Wednesday night, and shortly after began making calls to inform them of his decision. Weiner called DCCC chair Steve Israel — who had also called for his resignation — on Wednesday night at the White House picnic to inform him and Pelosi that he had decided to resign on Thursday.
Exit questions: How much media moaning about alleged "puritanism" with respect to Weiner's obscene online activities will we hear from the left-of-center media? And how many weeks will CNN wait to pair him up with his fellow disgraced New Yorker Eliot Spitzer? After all, he seems to be in need of a co-host.

What "happened" (there he was, walking down the street, minding his own business when WHAM!! this thing fell on him out of nowhere!!) to Weiner will be played as another "tragedy."
And of course, it's not his fault....it's that "puritanism" dammit!!
I repeat what I said the other day: What kind of country is this, where someone can't send photos of his johnson to women he doesn't know without the Puritans getting their bloomers in a wad over it???
Regarding his wife, yes, it's a tragedy for her, but apparently she knew about his "habit" before they got married; I guess she thought marriage would (or could) change him.

My guess is she wanted to be just like Hillary. Ride the coat tails of her husband into more power. You saw how Hillary ignored all of times Bill cheated on her. In the case of Weiner it could not be ignored due to the internet. Do you think if the internet that we have today was around back around the time of the Clintons being in Arkansas he would have had a chance to get into the White House?
She's obviously a poor judge of character

If she thought that she'd ride this dweeb's coattails to the top, she doesn't understand average Americans. Weiner might appeal to some New York City type, but he doesn't set well with most of the country.

'Democrats cut off their Weiner' - NYT
'Democrat MSNBC says they chopped off Weiner too soon'
'Democrat Party looks forward to life without their Weiner'
The entire business was a gag. The idea that Democrats promulgated in 2006, that THEY would 'drain the swamp of corruption'? That was the real gag. A sad, sorry, dispirited farce that they carry on to this very day. A joke that they keep telling, and which no one thinks is funny. The notion that Democrats - who are the very essence of corruption, thievery, bribery, graft, lies, deceit, anarchy, whoredoms and vulgarity of the worst order - saying that they would 'end' the very behavior that they champion?
Remember in 2012 people - we must take this country back. There is no denying that the government has been corrupted, and is infested with people who hate this nation and want to rebuild it after the manner of their own wickedness. Things will never get better until we elect wise and righteous leaders who will obey the law.

porn star popularity
Submitted by jon_torlin on Thu, 06/16/2011 - 11:43am.
It's funny how some porn stars (active or not) gain some popularity after some sort of scandal or incident or whatever. According to an article I read a while back, the one hanging around Charlie Sheen during his "tour" and partying gained some new fans because of them being in the mainstream news. Some couldn't handle it.
Bree Olson gained some attention and didn't seem to mind it.
Kacey Jordan however didn't do too well, apparently she got pregnant, tried to say it wasn't Sheen's but it seems likely that it was and she got an abortion(tmz got a video of her leaving and she texted whoever it was that got her pregnant that the deed was done. But later she kinda went nuts, got to binge drinking and drugs and supposedly tried to commit suicide, she's ok now.
There were some other porn stars that were involved with Sheen and now supposedly they are getting together, trying to capitalize their new-found fame, how, you might ask? A porn film! Good grief!
So what will happen with Ginger Lee, will she get more fame/fans or will she go nuts?
I'm not condemning nor condoning porn, just rather interesting when it makes its way into the "mainstream" news, though pretty much all of the above, I got from Fox News and TMZ(which I don't typically look at unless it was linked from Fox News).

In the vocabulary of liberal-speak, it seems that anyone with morals, a standard of behavior outside of themselves and from a Higher source - which is not a weather-vane of fluctuating stimuli - can be labeled "Puritanical", "Desperate clingers to guns and religion" (my personal favorite and one I wear proudly!), and other terms that they say with ridicule and scorn.
They also try, in all seriousness, to call themselves "Progressive". (of course, they try to say pretty much everything in all seriousness).
If my ability to follow the convolutions is up to the job, this means that they consider amoral behavior, degradation, deceit, hedonistic indulgence and every other perversion to be "Progressive".
I guess that says a lot about what direction they're progressing.

than a resignation speech. I really don't think Weiner "gets" it...I fully expect that we will see him try to return, in some fashion, to either elected office or some other high profile position of some kind in the future. This is a man who has an elephantine ego, and some serious character flaws (in addition to some psychological issues as well) which have proved to be just about fatal to his political career (at least for now) and very possibly to his marriage (we'll have to see what happens there), and I didn't hear him say anything of any real concrete substance that indicates this he either recognizes this, or is going to do anything, really, to address it. Whatever happens with Weiner in the future, I have a feeling that we haven't seen the last of him. Time will tell.
As for how the media ultimately handles this, I am certain that some will invent some ludicrously convoluted way to try to hang Weiner's resignation on the right.

Just a distraction?

So, Weiner thinks this entire escapade is nothing more than a distraction? Nice display of moral ineptitude there, buddy.

I kind of feel sorry for Weiner.

It has been really hard for him, don't you think? He assumed such a rigid position to begin with, and that made it a real stretch for him to pull out on his own.
His first news conference laid the table for this disaster. He entered from the back door, and had to be second to Breitbart. Had he been up-standing from the start and entered from the front, it would have gone smoother.
But no, he left himself hanging, and took a real beating from the press. Hell, even good liberals like Barney Fwank blew him off. I mean, how does a once fast rising man come to this?
Now he's unemployed. No longer will the Weiner be able to get up in the morning like he used to. He'll just have to hang around the house, probably with a couple of other NYC nuts he calls friends, playing Hide the Pickle or some other dopey game.
Never fear. There is indeed a TV show in his future. It is already half named for Weiner. It's called Hardball. That will give him the exposure he needs to make a turn around, and Chrissy is the man to get him to turn around if anyone is.
So you keep hanging in there, Weiner and stick it out! With a head like yours, you're destined for bigger things. You can beat it!
Carpe Diem (or something)!

OK, I'm a girl, so I cannot comment too much on that last post, Newbubba. But I have to admire your hilarious creativity. ;)
