obama just spent 2 million dollars on an election party for himself, the DNC spent 5.9 million dollars on the DEM Convention...

wow!  That would have sure bought a TON of gas & paid a TON of high electric bills for the poor.

Eventhough I believe that an Obama presidency will be a horrible time for our country, think about the historical signifigance.

I am even more proud of the USA, 40 years after the darkest days of the civil rights struggle the country was able to electa black man to the highest office in the land. We should be proud of our country, we may not like Obama, but you have to respect what he and his campaign has done over the last 21 months.

I hope that he will pursue a centrist path of governance, bi-partisan leadership, and the advancement of the greatest country that god has given man.

As any Illinois Politician knows, The career Path of the Illinois Governor, is Govenor in the Executive Mansion in Springfield, Then Joliet Prison.   BHO and his campaign have proved that he fits the profile of an Illinois politician.

Lets see if BHO survives the ACORN Organization, because ACORN is going down, and all their Bull Shit VOTER registration antics will  not be repeated the next election.

Lets see if BHO survives the International Campaign Contributions investigation and his other shady $600 million in contributions.

It is my opinion that there is one and only one entity to place blame on, and that is the MSM.  From Day 1, they glossed over or outright ignored Obama's history, voting record, lack of experience, and highly questionable connections and treated him like a rock star (which in this Jerry Springer/TMZ/ET/MTV/VH1/Comedy Central world was perfect for the skulls full of mush that eagerly absorb that kind of crap).  Even tonight I saw commentators saying they didn't know how Obama would be on certain issues.  How in the hell could you vote for him if you don't know his stand on things?!?  Don't you think that's something you might want to have examined by now??  If the MSM spent 1/1000th the energy examining the Messiah as they did Sarah Palin, McCain would be way ahead.  Sarah Palin was not a "drag" on the ticket; she's the only reason it's closer than it was.  Just like one word (macaca) in 2006, this year a crisis that was created and made worse by the Democrats, became a Republican problem.  The attacking of Joe the Plumber, shutting off access of media outlets that dared ask Biden tough questions, all of this can be directly attributed to the fact that the MSM chose to sell their soul in order to get their pre-ordained candidate into office.

Okay...my tears have dried and now I must vent.

Is the The Fairness Doctrine going to be an issue? 

Obama will sign into law a bill that allows for tax-payer funded abortions.  I don't want my tax dollars going to infanticide. 

What about National Security?  Is it going to take another terrorist attack to bring this nation around?

What has this man said in all of his charismatic empty speeches that made a woman think that Obama was going to pay her mortgage and gas?  What drugs are these people on.

now that the country has elected a nobody with a questionable past to lead us into who knows what ...

i'll give the guy 2 years and see whether he and his liberal allies do more than create a wave of "buyer's remorse" for all those who touted him as being "what America needs"

if obama, reid, pelosi and biden do what many think they will (institute a massive socialist agenda hellbent on destroying the middle class by redistributing wealth while silencing all opposition through the "fairness" doctrine) ... i predict a vigorous backlash come 2010.  over 45 million voted for mccain, it doesn't leave much room for error ... the country didn't "swing" to the left, it "tilted" to test unchartered waters.

some heavy duty stuff on obama's immediate agenda may be:

- his initiating a quick w/drawal from iraq and then that country dissolves into a violent quagmire

- israel, fearing its survival, suddenly attacks iran

- obama starts meddling in other "iraq-like" situations in places like darfur (i still don't understand how people oppose iraq, yet pine for US intervention in the sudan ... genocide is genocide)

- if al-qaeda (or another terrorist group) is emboldened by what appears could be an appeasement-oriented, weakened US foreign policy ... decides to conduct another massive attack

- if fuel prices start to rise again because he taxes oil companies and still refuses to consider drilling

- i won't even mention the economic mess his party helped create and now must fix

if the right things aren't done ... and done fast ... the phrase "are you better now than you were 2 years ago" might be the mantra of a GOP/conservative tsunami in the next midterm elections.

bottom line, IMHO, obama has a huge amount of pressure on him to deliver on all the promises he and his party have been making (for years) ... they haven't done a damn thing the past 2 years ... now that they have total control, i believe it is "do or die" mode

does anyone wish to wager on my belief that a major part of this new gov't will be devoted to punishing george bush ... ?

You know, I can understand the rest of the networks lavishing praise on their Messiah.  To see the Fox News "conservative" pundits stick their head up Obama's bunghole truly makes me want to throw up!!!  There was nothing fair or honorable about this election.  This man and this moment deserves no congratulation.  It just shows you that the highest job in the land can be bought like something off of a store shelve.  I thought we learned our lesson after Watergate!  If Obama hadn't broken his pledge for campaign financing, do you think he would've won?

I haven't bothered to read all the Open Threads, so I don't know if this has been brought up.  There is a silver lining in Obama's win; yes, it's a thin lining, but a lining nonetheless.

We have seen the last of Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Unless Hillary goes against the longstanding tradition against challenging an incumbent (always a possibility; after all, Sarah Palin did it), she will not be able to run until 2016. By that point in time, she will be 68 years old.  And we're not dealing with a woman noted for her patience.

I'm calling it right now:  Hillary Clinton will not seek reelection to her Senate seat in four years.  She will finish out her term (likely with a high rate of absenteeism) and then retire.   

It's possible she may even concoct a reason to step aside after the dust of the election settles (say, in six months); since New York has a (D) Governor, she could be confident that he would appoint another Democrat to finish her term.  Either way, there's no point for her to remain the junior senator from New York if there's no career advancement prospects.

So, in the shadow of defeat, there is reason to celebrate: the Clinton Era is finally over!

I've said this all along for over 4 years now. The media fed the public bad news about the economy no matter what. It scared the public and destroyed Bush. The news stories will start to suddenly become good news as soon as Obama takes office. "Look what Obama did to the gas prices" "The recession is over" Unemployment is coming down".

Get ready for good news every day from the MSM. Then you will see polls taken everyday. "Obama has an approval rating of over 80%". Every 2% growth in the economy under Bush was horrible but the same growth under Obama will be "things are turning around" Hail the Messiah!

It will be interesting to see-- the number of early retirments in the military. Obama wants them gone, but I met many an early retiree after Clinton blew into the Oval Office. (Pun intended!)

Well, I respect everyone on here wanting to be magnanimous about it all and truly thank Charles for all he's done during this election and also world issues that deeply concern all of us.   However, I will not and do not congratulate him.  He is a despot in the making and to congratulate him would be like thanking the guard before entering the gas chambers at Auschwitz.  Thanks but no thanks.  This entire congratulatory, conciliatory, thank you for screwing me in the rear attitude most conservatives exhibit was the reason for our downfall in this election.  McCain practiced it with great finesse and look at him today.  At his age, he had nothing to lose since he's in the twilight of his life but think about all the young people who never had a chance to grow up in the America most of us have grown up in.   This is not a day of celebration, it's a day of mourning.  A National Day of Mourning.   For months I’ve been bitching about Hussein and watched this site and others call him every name in the book, all mostly justified, and for me to congratulate him now would be super hypocritical on my part.   

That said, we are all free to say and do what we please in this dying Democracy so knock yourselves out.....but not me, sorry.
