George Carlin, has passed
June 23, 2008 - 10:34 ET by shawn228George Carlin, has passed on. Was never a big fan, but as far as I know he is the only comedian to have made it to the supreme court.
Shawn, I know the SCOTUS
June 23, 2008 - 10:36 ET by Dan The Man 2Shawn, I know the SCOTUS judges are comedians these days but you say Carlin was a SCOTUS judge? but as far as I know he is the only comedian to have made it to the supreme court

June 23, 2008 - 10:39 ET by shawn228You know what I meant. Time to start calling you Tracheostromy :-)
Dan is nothing like Trach
June 23, 2008 - 11:49 ET by Dee Bunkother than I think they have the same religion. Dan is very religious but he's also very respectful. He usually states his beliefs in a positive way without attacking people for their different beliefs.
Dan and I have had some differences of opinion but I admire him and his faith greatly.
I know you were just joking Shawn, but I want to make it clear that people talking about their religion doesn't bother me and I actually think it's very admirable. I'm only saying this because I'm battling with Trach but no one else acts the way he does about it and he's the only one who I think crosses the line over and over again.
It's just my opinion.
Dee
June 23, 2008 - 21:02 ET by shawn228It was just a lighthearted joke regarding nitpicking of words. No veiled references to your religious debates, I promise ;-)
George will be missed...
June 23, 2008 - 10:38 ET by AgentAmericanGeorge Carlin the radical had this going for him: honesty. And he was extremely funny.
Even appearing on Countdown to Nervous Breakdown with Keithamphetamine didn't tarnish him.

Carlin was my one encounter
June 23, 2008 - 10:45 ET by motherbeltCarlin was my one encounter with fame. I once ran into him in the Miami airport. Literally. Came running around a corner in shop, in a big hurry, and WHAM! He laughed. I said "You're....." and he pointed at me and said "You're right!" and turned and walked away. Probably trying to catch his breath!

Class Clown
June 23, 2008 - 10:55 ET by Uphillwas, is and will always be my favorite comedy album. It is probably the first and only routine I could recite word for word (That was back in the late 70's. Now I can't remember what I had for dinner last night.) I was a teenager able to list the seven words you could not say on TV. Good times.
I got to see his show
June 23, 2008 - 13:53 ET by Hero SquadI got to see his show live in '86, and it was great. The "souvenir program" for the show is actually one of the funniest books I've ever read (Sometimes a Little Brain Damage Can Help). I'd share some of those jokes with you, but the best ones would probably get me banned from NewsBusters.

Speaking of James Hanson
June 23, 2008 - 10:45 ET by HypocriteHaterDid anyone see the Drudge headline titled "Nasa Scientist: Put Oil Chiefs on Trial for Spreading Doubt About Global Warming".
My first reaction was - the scientist has to be James Hanson. Sure enough, I clicked on the link and the first 2 words in the article are "James Hanson".
What a tool! So much for being supposedly silenced by the Bush administration.
Site Issue
June 23, 2008 - 10:42 ET by viluzionI've been having a problem with the pages loading at NB for several days. It is caused by a request to adgardener.com that doesn't receive an answer, preventing the page from loading completely. I just hit the stop button when the rest of the page has loaded, but I'm guessing this might prevent you from getting paid by adgardener which is why I am pointing it out.
And now, today's Shrub
June 23, 2008 - 10:45 ET by Roger the ShrubberAnd now, today's Shrub Report®:
Rest in peace, George.

694 years ago today, Robert the Bruce won the Battle of Bannockburn. Mel Gibson was nowhere to be found. Neither was Glenn Danzig, who turns 53, or the NFL's best running back, who turns 28 today.
The latest affront to the Religion of Peace: kite-flying. Luckily, honor killings are still the rage, and women's rights are still stuck in the 8th century.
UK PM Brown blames Thatcher's lack of socialism for UK woes today.

How Does A Person Get to Appear Before Congress?
June 23, 2008 - 11:45 ET by GothampcI was thinking about all the windbag movie stars that have appeared before Congress to plead their various causes.
How does a normal taxpayer get to appear and say what's on their mind? Or is Congress only open to the elite?

ckc... Well...I didn't
June 23, 2008 - 19:48 ET by bigtimerckc...
Well...I didn't take it he meant anything other than the deductions he made after asking the questions he did and such..anymore than I did this morning when I was doing work, had it on msnbc..some stupid car chase was going on...and they announced it was a white man driving...well...golly gee...after all the car chases they have had on over the years...when it has been someone of other color than white I do not think it was announced at all as much as it was this morning..if it was at all. I am sick and tired of all of this.
A criminal is a criminal is a criminal.
Btw..I could care less what happens to Imus, I understand well your point..I just think we are all going over-board and using race issues if we all say somethiong that can be miscontrued if we aren't racist at all...when we shouldn't be...

Enough...I want to scream...yet I know this will continue for at least four more months...and beyond of course with the msm...especially when their messiah loses and they are passing the Kleenex boxes in their rubber rooms to each other.

I have to tell you Matt
June 23, 2008 - 19:40 ET by Delsathe other day or evening, I forget, I clicked on my favorite link and it took me to this strange place. A place I had never been before.
I freaked. All my friends, the news of the day, and topics of discussion had vanished.
I felt empty inside.
I thought, did they not pay the bill? Did they forget to renew their domain name? What could be wrong?
Much to my happiness, when I clicked on the link a few hours later, I found myself back home, amoung my friends, reading the topics of the day, and discussing it all with the group.
My long nightmare was over.
THANK GOD

Prepare yourself... Neither candidate may be "natural born"
June 24, 2008 - 08:22 ET by BritcomThe US Constitution REQUIRES a candidate for President to be a "natural born Citizen" in order to be seated in office.
According to most people's definition of what "natural born" Citizenship is, either one or the other current Presidential candidates is NOT a legally "natural born" citizen. But which one is it?
