Did Barack Obama Flip Off Hillary Clinton?

Did Barack Obama intentionally make a one-finger gesture when referring to his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton? Quite possibly, yes.

The evidence is in a video filmed April 17th from a Raleigh, N.C., speech that Obama gave.

"Hillary Clinton, she looked in her element, you know," Obama says right before reaching up and scratching his face with one finger à la Will Smith in "Men in Black." Note the crowd reactions after Obama does it (21 seconds in) and his sly smile afterwards.

Update 17:03. Changed transcript to read "in her element" from "looked irrelevant."

wow

He's good....subtle but obvious too...

God help us all!

I still can't believe that this moron could be seriously considered for President....even by the great unwashed left!

Video of this event from

Video of this event from another angle is available here. At least I think it's the same event.

Typical lib...

Tupical lib... childish to the end.

Wrong quote . .

It was:  "Hillary was in her element",  not Hillary was irrelevent

dead give-away

Yeah, the grin was a dead give-away.

Ahhh, the tolerant, peace-loving left.  He must have learned that gesture from his equally merciful mentor/pastor.

This dude's already blown the Presidency and it's only mid-April.

I agree he looks like he

I agree he looks like he flipped her. That is so childish. I can't believe it.

two-faced gesture

Did you notice the conciliatory words he used while making that nasty gesture? It was a hypocritical and two-faced combination to say the least. That must be the way they "turn the other cheek" in Barack Hussein Obama's anti-American, racist, antisemitic "church".

tru dat!

Not only is he a brilliant orator, hes also very efficient. --- Ask yourself: Do I want a good paying job, or do I want a government hand out. Its that simple!

I've seen this since

I've seen this since yesterday and I am going to go with my first gut reaction....I never looked at it that way as him flipping her off....while he is complaining, heck they are both whiners, if he did it intentionally he is stupider that I thought in his immaturity...then again they are the left, what's new...they wouldn't know what class is if it hit them in the arse.

"Never murder your opponent when he is committing suicide." ~ W. Churchill

Unbelievable

You know what is great?

These two clowns (Obama and Hillary) are replacing our own 527 groups and it is in real time!

Obama really is an elitist whiner who looks down on all of us over whatever nose Wright calls it.

I don't know if it was

I don't know if it was intentional on his part or not, but I think the crowd took it that way...listen to the hooting....

Howdy mb...they were

Howdy mb...they were hooting before that too, it may of increased after he did that, I just didn't take it that way, heck it was the whining about the debate and Hill's name that makes them sick too...I don't know if he is smart enough to intentionally do that right at that moment with such ease....then again...

Either way...it's all fun for me.....

"Never murder your opponent when he is committing suicide." ~ W. Churchill

Yeah, you are right...it

Yeah, you are right...it started before...they are hooting at the whole "dump on Clinton" riff...

Hey...how about a "Freudian Slip" of the finger????

I don't know though, he has been letting more and more of his "Washington-style" of politics show lately. If he gets the nod, by November I expect him to be making remarks like "Some say Sen. McCain is too old to be President..."

He is nothing if not sly. Before I thought he was just haughty. The more I see of him, the more I think "Sly."

In certain circles, its commonly done...

The first time I saw it done was in the movie Aliens when the First seargent is telling private Hicks to "shag it!" and Hicks asks the seargent for his slippers. The seargent uses his middle finger to pull down his lower eyelid slightly and says...."look into my eyes".

I thought...I gotta use that!

Ask yourself: Do I want a good paying job, or do I want a government hand out. Its that simple!

If you really listen

If you really listen cloesly, the crowd starts cheering before he even raises his hand to his face.

  Wow.... the 'Dream

Wow.... the 'Dream Ticket' is getting to be a little uncomfortable.   I bet hillary is getting ready to t.p. the trees in his front lawn tonight.

MA...but HRC has said she

MA...but HRC has said she would work for him if he is the nominee. Do you think she harbors expectations of getting some kind of position in his administration if he wins? I don't know...AG maybe?

   Well sometimes the

Well sometimes the losers are brought into some power payoff so that the loser will now have a stake in the success of the new admistration and not spend all their time plotting and scheming revenge.  Hillary has almost as many votes as obama so he is not the consensus of the democrats.  Barry will have to curry favor with a lot of hillary supporters not just to win the general election but to govern later if he wins so expect to see the 'Hope and Change Express' make some stops at some of hillarys favorite issues.

Won't Happen

The "Dream Ticket" just isn't going to materialize.

Hillary's ego would never allow her to be second fiddle.  Especially after metaphorically (sometimes possibly literally) sitting in the second seat for 8 years under her husband.

And, Obama wouldn't take the VP slot because he knows Bill would be the one whom Hillary would go to for council.  Obama knows he would be more irrelevant than most any VP before him.

The more I watch this guy the more arrogant and smug he comes across. I personally hope he's the dem nominee ... just to wipe that smug grin off his face. I think McCain could easily take this guy down.

These three are the product

These three are the product of concerted media smear campaigns directed at every viable conservative national candidate the Democrats could target.  George Allen comes to mind immediately.

Obama himself is the product of a liberal invasion of privacy.  His intended Senate oponent was not Alan Keyes.  It was former Illinois governor, Jack Ryan, a formidable foe.  Deomcrat "activists" petitioned a sympatheric judge to open the previously sealed divorce records of Ryan and his former wife, actress Jerri Ryan.   Suddenly, it became a major scandal to have had sex with your lawfully wedded wife at a private sex club.  I think without this "scandal", Obama would still be an Illinois Senator pandering to the likes of Reverand Wright.

Hillary is the product of scandal and the media's partisan handling of scandal.

Media has nothing to do with it.

These three are the product of concerted media smear campaigns directed at every viable conservative national candidate the Democrats could target.

I don't agree at all.  Let's take them one candidate at a time.

Sen. Obama has succeeded because, first, because of the emotion he rode after his 2004 Dem Nat Convention speech.  Like or dislike the guy, you can't deny he can capture a room with a prepared speech.

He's also doing much of what Bill Clinton did in 1992.  He's getting the youth demographic energized.

Sen. Clinton is easy enough - former first lady carry's a lot of clout.  Especially when you go on to become a Senator for NY.

McCain is succeeding for the same reasons he succeeded in 2000.  The majority of this country are moderates.  He speaks to them plainly... and the "Straight Talk Express" is still something people relate to.

Remember, McCain likely would have won the Rep nomination in 2000 if not for the phone polling done where voters were asked if they would vote for McCain if they knew he "fathered a bi-racial baby out of wedlock."

People didn't know if it was true or not, but the thought was put in their mind.

McCain doesn't have any one doing that to him this time around.

None of this has anything to do with the media.

I think without this "scandal", Obama would still be an Illinois Senator

OK... but, you can't blame Obama for his opponent blowing himself up politically.  And, if not for McCain's 'baby-gate' in 2000, W. would likely still be Texas governor.

And, unlike Obama's non-involvement in the Ryan story... then Gov. Bush is at least alleged to have been behind the baby polling question.

Wrong curator - NL207 is wright on.......

The media has everything to do with our political climate today.

Regarding this thread: Hussein definately knew what he was doing.

Barack Hussein Obama's first book says he
learned early on how to smile and phrase his words to make white people
like the good looking black boy.

He is playing the average American for fools. His actions and associations speak volumes for the empty suit that can not articulate a thought coherently without a written speech in front of him.

OMG that's hilarious, Karma! ......My daughter and I swear that there isn't a single situation in life that can't be referenced to an episode of "Seinfeld"!

do you remember Kramer's response?

"(chuckling) She knew what she was doing."

That's a purpose bird, no doubt.

I love it.  The more Baraka and Michelle are on T.V., the more angry and bitter they come across.

If it's intentional, it's

If it's intentional, it's childish and crass and not befitting someone of such "dignity" and "eloquence" (adjectives we're always hearing from his minions to describe their god).

But maybe his excema was just flaring up.

Very Good

BHO,

That was a very good flip. Not excellent but very good.

The sly smile gave it away - otherwise great work.

The moveon.org children love this stuff.

Bitter In PA

I am sure that there are a few of my fellow Pennsyltuckians that would like to return "the salute" that he gave Hilary.  More than a few of my neighbors are sick and tired of the Democratic party insulting us for our holding some things dear: religous beliefs, guns, low taxes, and a sincere lusty desire for Washington and Harrisburg to stop trying to make us wear Depends.

We have been listening to this crap coming from the mouths of the DNC, Democratic mouthpieces, and lately from our own Democratic Governor (Fast Eddy Baggadonuts) Rendell.

There are two huge issues for Osama and his ilk: some of my neighbors are not only conservative in their outlook, but are Democrats as well AND these remarks apply to more than a few of those conservative Democrats who live anywhere in Appalachia, the South, the West, and the Rockies.

I am looking forward to McCain shredding Obama and the campaign process revelaing his true character to the world.  It's too bad that the rest of the MSM hasn't gone after him the way that George did.

I can't believe anyone

I can't believe anyone seriously thinks he was flipping off Hillary. Come on.

I don't know if he did or

I can't tell if he did or not, but, yet, somehow, I knew which side you were going to come down on.

Yyeah, the side of common

Yyeah, the side of common sense. COME ON! He was making a point, the crowd started cheering for him, and he smiled. End o' story. The rest is fodder for an Oliver Stone movie plot.

But sometimes, interpreting

But sometimes, interpreting some things, common sense doesn't necessarily apply. You're imposing what you think makes sense onto someone else - with their own motivations, standards, and behavior. I'm not saying you're wrong - in this case. But it doesn't always work.

Hey Balboa......

See my comment to curator above........

How long can you continue to defend the indefencible? You've been at at it seems like forever (at least as long as I can remember on this site). You would think some of the "common sense" distributed freely by other posters would have rubbed off by now. Well...one can hope....

old cro, I'm not defending

old cro, I'm not defending anything "indefencible." I watched the video. There's just no way Obama was flipping off Hillary. It's an absurd idea.

Yes

Of course, he flipped.

Got to build those "street creds".

Solidify the base!

Doc... and bt, bal, etc..

Yes, "street cred"....

Guys/gals, also notice how he went more "street" when his hand came down... he jived his shoulders a bit, smugly smiled, and also ended with the very street/urban combo word, when doing his passive-agressive schtick about Hillary, with "Iss'all'ite..."

Has me really wondering if this was deliberate. Either way, he really is like some immature, "super cool" teenager, and it IS astonishing that he's close enough to the presidency to taste it.

And yes, he is pandering to that base (the 90% of that "base" that is lock-step punching his ticket because he's "real"....)

For REAL Change

I say yes "anyone seriously

I say yes "anyone seriously thinks he was flipping off Hillary" becuase of his reaction to the crowds reaction.  If he would have not reacted in that way to teh crowd it would have been what it looked like in teh beggining a harmless scratching of his face.

Nuke em til they glow then shoot em in the dark.

I must come to balboa's

I must come to balboa's defense. To me it did look like he was scratching his face. In order for me to believe this was an intentiaonal act, then I would need to see the angle from the other side. But I would not put it past anyone at a campaign rally in this environment to do something like that slyly.

I didn't think so at first

Bal,  I didn't think he flipped her off at first, certainly not when he scratched his face.  But his smile after he scratched his face did not match the words that went along with that smile.  Go back and check to see what I mean.

Those who have not swords can still die upon them.

That's more my take

I don't think he did it on purpose but did eventually realize what he had done after the crowd started talking.

Never thought of that

Never thought of that Matt...that would fit more in to my take from the beginning of this...

"Never murder your opponent when he is committing suicide." ~ W. Churchill

Tell that to BHO's large

Tell that to BHO's large crowd of supporters who loudly and obviously cheer his nasty-ness.

Ninja, please!

Its done all the time in 'non-white" circles. I only know because I have a few black friends that do it now and then. I have tried to remember the trick, but the occasion just never presents itself. When i flip somone off it usually just for driving poorly and even then I feel stupid for reacting like that.

I suspect thats just how OBH rolls.

Ask yourself: Do I want a good paying job, or do I want a government hand out. Its that simple!

What? Is this guy still in

What? Is this guy still in the third grade?

These people are just pathetic.

Aside from the finger, which

Aside from the finger, which may or may have not been da bird, what's with all these speeches given with a rogues gallery sitting behind him? Does everyone do this now? Whatever happened to standing in front of a plain backdrop? Is this supposed to be proclaiming that these are "his people" backing him up? For some reason, watching these dummies, sitting there with the blank faces of true believers, really annoys me.

That started some time ago,

That started some time ago, Chris...I remember Bill Clinton doing it, but I can't remember if it was done before him.

If he was talking about cops, (like his crime bill or his 100,000 cops proposal), he would have a phalanx of cops up there. Ditto teachers. Maybe it's just a way to "pay off" supporters with a little privilege; get seen in the video and the TV spots.

I don't like any setting

I don't like any setting that turns people into props. Of course with anyone dumb enough to buy his crap, maybe that's all they're good for - props.

mb and Chris... The

mb and Chris...

The Clintoon machine got this all down to a perfection...I got so sick of all of his back-drops, from little black kids to dogs and cats....

As an aside...I recall Bill Clinton using his long middle finger scratching his cheek too when talking....just wanted to throw that in there...for me it was always noticeable but I never took it he was flipping anyone off....he may of been though...lol.

"Never murder your opponent when he is committing suicide." ~ W. Churchill

yeah that cracks me up...

Its like saying..."these stooges are with me"

And I think...what kinda loser dork do you have to be to follow OHB around and hope his handlers put you in the peanut gallery behind him while he gives a speech. Im sure they are selected for their color and attractiveness...though somtimes i have to wonder.

I wanna get on there and start diggin for nose goblins.

That would make YouTube for sure!

---

Ask yourself: Do I want a good paying job, or do I want a government hand out. Its that simple!

Its extremely obvious Bal...

The "woooo-ing" kicks in the exact second he uses his middle finger on his cheek and then as the ruckus continues he smirks for a full 10 seconds or more.

This is 100% obvious.

The middle-finger scratch is an old junior high school dig.  Another is using the middle finger to point at text.

He comes off as a snarky leftist punk.

This is the new politics?

(And why didn't he get an hour of bowling lessons before going on national TV.  He probably figured, "What a stupid redneck sport.  Who can't roll a ball on the floor!")

LOL

Disagree Parker...I'm not

Disagree Parker...I'm not completely ruling out the possibility,  but I think it unlikely.  And the "wooo-ing" actually begins just prior to the finger swipe [although it does continue and escalate during and after.]

The middle finger or forefinger are my preferred digits for facial flicks and brushes.

This was certainly not a Nelson Rockefeller moment.  I'm not buying it.

Yes, it was "in her element", not "irrelevant"

And, incidentally, this is what the crowd was reacting to.

But people are going to see what they want to see, I suppose, so have at it.

Correct, ChenZen...the

Correct, ChenZen...the crowd murmuring/giggling was a reaction to Obama's reference to Hillary being "in her element" and had already commenced before Obama briefly touched his finger to his face.

The laughter escalated due to the contagious effect of the crowd response, although there could have been some who honestly believed the finger was a deliberate anti-Hillary gesture.  I doubt seriously Obama intended it to be.

Jer

I agree, and consider how *we're* experiencing it

We've got a perfect Obama-view (and the ability to rewind, if we weren't sure what the hell he was doing, which I wasn't and still am not!) from the wonders of video, and we're experiencing it that way. What we're experiencing is entirely different from what this crowd was experiencing, whether it's sight, sound, or feeling. When trying to evaluate crowd noise we must keep this in mind.

The crowd had their own unmagnified eyesight from various angles, some of which wouldn't have shown the finger at all. They couldn't rewind, and not all of them would even be looking at Obama at any moment, whereas we're all video-transfixed. Assuming even a majority of the crowd noise was from his fleeting possible gesture is a stretch at best, IMO. Consider: Obama's a good speaker with steadily improving timing & crowd instincts, and he's talking to a warmed-up crowd that loves him in this video clip. IMO this one isn't quite a dud because I can't be sure about Obama's bird-or-scratching intent, but I think so far it's a lot like a fizzle.
JMR

The tax & spend drug war looks racist in the real world.

Ditto...every word.

Ditto...every word.

Jer

Think about it...

He is talking about people taking cheap political digs, and then he just happens to do the middle finger scratch, and then he grins like a Cheshire cat that's just been caught next to an empty bird cage.

Twenty years of role modeling by Rev. Wright.  Its second nature now.

you got it!

Next time he might just break down and start giving the pedestal the old Rev. Wright hip-thrust while he demonstrates his future economic policy's impact on "rich white people".

Wait, has Leon posted yet?  Allow me to do the honors...

Oh Nooooooo.......

Not the Loon...........

In the end..

Who cares.

I think I have flipped them both off from my family room chair once or twice.

I hate this election

i did once

If Osama did not flick her off, he should have.  Once in Miami, I happened to be in the opposite lane when her motorcade passed in the other lane.  I hung my best one out the window as she passed; I don't know if she saw it or not, but it made me feel better.  Two of the cars behind me had people in them that did same, one was majestically displayed through a sunroof.  We in Florida don't favor Monica Lewinsky's boyfriend's wife.

Obama A loser

Obama is just another perp, in a suit if he become president, his black really going to come out, all his family and friends will have Afirmative action across the board.,,, You thought bush will be bad ohhh wait and see what you get with Obama,, Mexico dollar going to be worth more than ours,, when Obama takes office,,, He still has no Agenda what so ever,, I have every single debate there was recored,, No one sees how obama never answers a question all he ever does is agree with Hilary,,, Hilary alway got the hard question ,,and then they asked obama, after, all he ever does is agree with Hilary, until the abc debate,,, when obama was finally asked hard question, Did any one see How much he stammered  ahm ahm ahm ahm, that alll he did ,,, he really had to think on his own and he not even president, Do we want another Muppet in the white house,, someone pulling Obama strings like chiney pullling Bush's strings,, God Help us all ,,
