It's Friday which means it's time for another episode of our comedy webcast "NewsBusted." Topics in this episode: Liberal groups fail to force a withdrawal from Iraq, Nancy Pelosi's gourmet food, a new FAA report, plus Wesley Snipes and the Oscars (two nouns you'll never hear together again).

January 25, 2008 - 06:09 ET by motherbeltGood quips, but Jody' "smirk" after each one is getting a little annoying. Too reminiscent of Mika Brzezinski.

January 25, 2008 - 09:09 ET by candanceCan't blame Jodi much for doing that. It's the way the business works these days, even if some find it annoying.
Good job as always guys. That line about the Democrats losing was my favorite.

January 25, 2008 - 14:19 ET by NewsbusterbrownHeh. I think conservative heterosexual men by and large are going to find Jodi's smirk much more acceptable than the rest of the posters around here. ;-)

nice episode!
Jodi's smirk...
January 25, 2008 - 20:49 ET by byrneyJodi's smirk works for me. I thought it was a good episode. I just wish it was about four times longer. Two and a half minutes is way too short.

Just not all that funny. Even the jokes that could be good, suffer with the delivery.
I completely disagree - It's a very good episode

I totally agree, this one had me laughing out loud...I really liked the whole thing, plus I think Jodi is just great.
I haven't had time to go back yet and check and see how many lefties have left their regular ugly insanity...I was there a lot earlier today...will try to check later to see whats up...it too can be fun to rate and mark up or down on these critters and of course the good guys too.
Hi BT - they will be there later when they get out of school

January 25, 2008 - 13:43 ET by balboaBut I do think that I'd laugh at a good comedian doing liberal jokes. When Stewart, Colbert, and Fey do them (yes, the few times they do), I think it's pretty funny.

It's absolutely flaming Liberal, but it's still funny.

Hell, I can even laugh
January 25, 2008 - 14:34 ET by sarcasmoWhen The Simpsons makes fun of Ayn Rand! But the difference with "NewsBusted" is that the Simpsons is actually-funny -- as Sam Simon's wallet amply-proved in the free comedy marketplace over the past decade+.

January 25, 2008 - 15:05 ET by NewsbusterbrownI love the Simpsons myself, but when they target conservatives or Republicans unfairly, IMO, they're going to lose me.
As someone who has read a few of Ayn Rand's books (Dagny Taggart is hot! ;-) and is not dismissive of Objectivists, I have to admit to chuckling at that episode myself, Sarc. But if it had portrayed Randians-Libertarians as Nazis instead, i.e, I doubt you would have been smiling. I know I wouldn't have.
It was over the top in spots...
January 25, 2008 - 15:14 ET by sarcasmoBut so was Ms. Rand, at least in her personal life. The fact that the cartoon -- unlike the news-media -- was fair enough to Large-L Libertarians to actually put our Springfield HQ next to Ned's Leftorium says that UNlike most of the rest of the media, they're not knee-jerk biased against libertarians, and that's a major step forward. It's trivially-easy to point-out what actual Nazis did when they came upon actual libertarians' papers, anyway.

As you know, Sarc, just because you can prove your case with facts doesn't mean that the MSM wont ignore it anyway. ;-)
They prove it every day, it seems...
January 25, 2008 - 15:30 ET by sarcasmoBut this election's just getting to be more and more fun. I think I'll go out with my spinning "Media Bias Makes Me Do This" sign this afternoon, with the other Ron Paul people. I'll try to see if I can get a pic of it posted publicly somewhere, it's truly a thing of beauty...

January 25, 2008 - 14:52 ET by NewsbusterbrownI also have laughed at the silliness on the right. I can also laugh at Bush's way with the English language or even a Cheney hunting joke. But if I don't agree with it's conclusion, I'm just not going to laugh .
Bal, I don't care how the joke is crafted or performed, you're just not going to laugh at it if it's targeting a position that you passionately believe in or you as a (pick one :-) Democrat, liberal or progressive. At least I can't see why you would.

January 25, 2008 - 14:59 ET by Chris NormanFor one to consider satire funny, one has to first recognize the underlying truth in it. Balboa has demonstrated time and again he doesn't recognize much of the truth here, so of course he wouldn't find any of this satire funny.

I don't think Bush is stupid, so I don't find the "Bush is stupid" jokes to be funny either. Even though I like Romney, I did laugh when some liberal said he looks "like a BMW salesman". So, I must have been thinking the same sort of the same thing subconsciously... :)

January 25, 2008 - 15:12 ET by NewsbusterbrownI don't laugh at the "Bush is stupid" jokes either because they're not true. But the Romney quip made me smile. That's the type of thing from the left that will catch me off guard.
