Gotta say, still not
October 5, 2007 - 08:09 ET by LeonGotta say, still not feeling it, but it's getting a little better every time.
I just have one request.
Could somebody please run over to Brooks Brothers and buy this guy a decent tie.
I think they could do better with
October 5, 2007 - 08:25 ET by sarcasmoA shorter introduction (just skip to the hot chicks, if anything, and edit-out the DC concrete, ok?) would do them some good, as would getting rid of the laugh track once and for all. If conservatives can't find a standup comic who can reliably pull-off the "live" thing in front of a real audience (where it's possible to bomb) they'll never compete with Colbert or Stewart effectively...
And as usual, the reflexive reefer-smoking joke about Willie was another yawner. You'd think conservatives would occasionally also find humor in Nelson's great relationship with the IRS, or SOMETHING else about him. Apparently, there's nothing at all funny to Willie, either, about all the non-psychoactive hemp-capitalism he promotes, but at the bottom of this web page (after a funny but very ribald "you have been warned" Blonde-joke) Willie does mention the possibilities for small farmers on marginal land that the news media desperately-wants to ignore...

There was a double meaning
October 5, 2007 - 10:26 ET by Matthew Sheffieldwith the Nelson joke.
As for live audiences, that is something we definitely would like to see but it costs money to have an audience of your own. If you borrow someone else's that is a question of business partnerships which also can be tricky.
It's something that we have kind of in the works though. NewsBusted is an eight-week trial program actually. If we get the green light we'll do it for longer and you can expect live audiences at some point.
For me, that just made it...
October 5, 2007 - 10:42 ET by sarcasmoA double-yawner. It's simply gettin' old -- about like the fat white male redneck stereotype-jokes for the left. I mean, I don't expect to see Tim Slagle type material up there, but with rampant corruption & abject failures like this and this continually going-on, it should be possible, in a fair and balanced news-world, to at-least-once make fun of the tax and spend drugwar just like Jon Stewart's Daily Show occasionally makes fun of the Democrats.
See why I call the drugwar "holy"??? If it happened, and I missed a NewsBusted joke that actually mocks the tax and spend drugwar's fiscal & moral failure (even a little) then my apologies, but I just haven't seen it. IMO ignoring libertarians gets lousy comedy-results with me, just like it gets lousy electoral results with the American people (see spending before 2006).
But the live audience is definitely good news if it happens, and if done in DC or NYC should be free or close to free. After all, what comedy club doesn't want a bunch of hungry, thirsty conservatives?

Yeah - it was more about Cindy than Willy and I laughed hard
October 5, 2007 - 10:42 ET by Dee BunkIt's like the drunk guy who's finds a body part growing in a dark bar over a really unattractive person. Thinking with his you no what. Willy's got smoke growing in his bong, in the room and his mind. That's what it takes to go for Cindy or anything she has to say.

The joke about the future
October 5, 2007 - 08:59 ET by Hero SquadThe joke about the future ex-Mrs. Charlie Sheen was great. Best ep yet (but still room for improvement)!
I do agree that Willie Nelson drug jokes are a bit dated. "Madonna is an old skank" jokes, however, have no expiration date.
And this has nothing to do with content, but my suggestion from a visual standpoint... a brighter background would help. With Mark wearing a dark colored suit up against a night background, it washes out the suit. You need to have one have good contrast with the other. A grayish background (or a gray suit) would help. Just my 2 schentz.
So I'm headed to D.C. this weekend. Where do I get tickets for the next taping of NewsBusted? :-)

October 5, 2007 - 10:06 ET by Dee BunkI'm really just baffled by the lack of support here. Newsbusted is #5 in subscriptions this week and #7 in views at the liberal dominated youtube and all people can do is complain. Can you imagine what the numbers would be if people lightened up and actually supported it?
People should have a few drinks if they need to. It's like people are afraid of liberals thinking they have bad taste or something. They would rather laugh at the millionth crack about how GWB fumbles speech I guess. Liberals get to #1 with that kind of crap and this is 1,000 times better.
You get by with a little help from your friends. That's one thing liberals do understand.
Thanks. My critique is only
October 5, 2007 - 10:19 ET by Hero SquadThanks. My critique is only in the hopes of watching NewsBusted get better each week. We should point out what we like, and where we think there is room for improvement. Because of the juggernaut we are up against, we need to be as sharp as we can be.
But Top 10 in both subscriptions and views? Wow, I'd say that's pretty good support thus far for NewsBusted!

"I heart famous people."
my point is it's not coming from the regulars here
October 5, 2007 - 10:34 ET by Dee BunkThere is little support in the ratings and comments. The great part is that I've noticed lots of people are creating accounts for the first time on youtube and subscribing. I think that many conservatives are used to it being a liberal medium and they don't understand the importance of rating and commenting. They have top rated and most discussed categories also.
It's the same with anything whether it's netflix or IMDB liberals rate and review in droves to make sure that people notice their films. They also write and call and make screening requests at theaters. If we ever want to break in, we need to do the same. It doesn't take a lot of effort. It's not like writing to newspapers where it may never see the light of day.
So you have to subscribe to
October 5, 2007 - 11:06 ET by Dan The Man 2So you have to subscribe to youtoobe to have any effect on the ratings? I usually watch it through my IPhone and there is no sub for it. In fact its podcasted directly to my phone.
Nuke em til they glow then shoot em in the dark.
Yeah Dan - It won't let you rate unless you have an account
October 5, 2007 - 11:18 ET by Dee BunkI'm not sure if it would show up that you viewed it or not. Even if you can't go rate it all the time, it wouldn't hurt to subscribe - that would show up and it only takes a minute to sign up for an account.
I Heart NewsBusted
October 5, 2007 - 10:21 ET by Kitty MyersI love these videos. They're hilarious! Keep up the great work.
i used to just
October 5, 2007 - 10:41 ET by karenmarienot like the show. now i hate it, insulting and sexist. Madonna and her age thing is very insulting. there are a lot of woman, who arent say 30 anymore and still look and feel good about themselves. I dont know why none of the jokes were funny. Just kidding, no im not, yes i am oh bother
Karenmarie - you are sounding like Maureen Dowd
October 5, 2007 - 10:56 ET by Dee BunkDon't watch it if it offends you. The joke is about Madonna not all 60 year old women. It definitely appears Newsbusted isn't for you, so don't watch it then. If they start worring about offending people then it's sure to fail.
but my point
October 5, 2007 - 10:58 ET by karenmariereally is that it just isnt funny, in my opinion. i thought thats what comments mean Dee. I want to laugh i guess im just disapointed
Maureen Dowd doesn't laugh much either
October 5, 2007 - 11:13 ET by Dee Bunkunless you have an idea that you think would make it funny to you and others then your comment doesn't help anyone. It just comes off like a crabby naysayer. Some people are just uptight and can only laugh at certain types of humor. If it's that hard for you to watch then don't. I'm having a good time with it.
I Have Enjoyed

October 5, 2007 - 11:32 ET by Matthew SheffieldGlad to see you think it's improving. It will only get better as we continue learning and creating.
Oh, and there will be a special surprise next week--actually two. Stay tuned!
crabby naysayer
October 5, 2007 - 11:35 ET by karenmariei like that. im sorry , i feel your angry because i disagree. I wont say anymore. I like all types of humor, really i do. ok ill stop right there.
No - there is a way to disagree and still be supportive
October 5, 2007 - 11:41 ET by Dee BunkI'm angry that your unsupportive, but seeing as you've been a memeber for 11 weeks and you have only one comment on something other than Newsbusted, it appears that you are not all that supportive of Newsbusters either. That's fine. Just be honest about it.
Dee
October 5, 2007 - 12:02 ET by karenmarieI read newsbusters everyday, i just do not comment. I dont know why. oh wait now i know why people call you names. You telling me to not watch the busted is not very friendly. I watched newsbusted again ill be positive, some jokes were a little funny. supportive check
Congrats on coming out of your shell for such an important thing
October 5, 2007 - 12:31 ET by Dee Bunkas slamming newsbusted. I'm so sorry - it took all your courage to tell them how much you think it stinks and I went and told you not to watch. That was very unfriendly of me. I have to work on my Kumbaya
Dee, its easy sometimes to
October 5, 2007 - 15:24 ET by Dan The Man 2Dee, its easy sometimes to get into Troll Busting mode when a new poster says something that rubs you the wrong way. I always look at what other stuff they have posted and then come up with the fire and brimstone. I too was taken aback at your remarks Marie, I like the oferall humor and like all jokes sometimes they fall flat and sometimes they hit the mark.
Nuke em til they glow then shoot em in the dark.
Karenmarie, that joke about
October 5, 2007 - 12:16 ET by MikeBKarenmarie, that joke about Madonna was funny. It wasn't about women who aren't 30 anymore and still look and feel good about themselves. It's about Madonna. It can be carried further and be perceived as being about all older women (and men) who try to look and act like they're still 30 (or 20) but are too stupid or vain to realize they can't carry it off. Like they say, varicose veins and miniskirts just don't go together.

wow mikeB
October 5, 2007 - 12:24 ET by karenmariei did not take the joke that way at all, but i just felt it was stale, a joke about Madonna , age and being a whore. I dont know, just again a chuckle maybe. Im not really seriously a good critic i guess. I know i could not do any better.
Exactly right
October 5, 2007 - 12:26 ET by Matthew SheffieldYour comment is pretty much what we had in mind with that joke.
You have got to be kidding
October 5, 2007 - 13:42 ET by VinceP1974You're offended by a Madonna joke? How do you get through life being so sensitive about tarted up celebrities?

rate it
Something has happened at the libs are all riled up. Newsbusted has like 96,000 views and a bunch of liberals rating it down and leaving obnoxious comments. There are 36 ratings on this episode. Can't that many of us go over there and rate it 5 stars? I did it already so really only 35 would be enough.
I really liked this
October 5, 2007 - 18:48 ET by BlondeI really liked this one.
The Madonna joke & Charlie Sheen's fiance one were truly funny. Phil Spectre was good too.
It's getting better each time...nicely done.
