Jesse Jackson and acting white quiz
September 20, 2007 - 03:20 ET by Parker1227Choose the correct answer or make up your own.
In response to Jesse Jackson's recent criticism that Obama is acting too "white" the presidential hopeful replied:
1. "So what's worse reverend, a Black man who acts like he's White, or a Black man who acts like he's a racist?"
2. "And how many honkies are in your wood pile reverend?"
3. "I tried learning Ebonics when I was a kid but my mother told me to stop it because I might want to be president some day."
Hmm
September 20, 2007 - 03:44 ET by well99I take no. 1 for the win.
}}---> Jamie Farr to block
September 20, 2007 - 03:55 ET by Cool ArrowNumber 3 is the correct answer.
But we don' posta' be sayin' it.

canned laughter stinks!

No RINOs in '08
live laughter is better but
September 20, 2007 - 08:19 ET by Dee Bunkcanned is better than silence.
Even if that's so
September 20, 2007 - 08:24 ET by sarcasmoHow come Colbert & Stewart can manage live audiences, but conservative attempts from "NewsBusted" to Fox's similar recently-failed attempt (good thing they didn't take any of my advice, eh?) all seem to depend on the canned variety??? Good comedy can "stand up" to a live audience.

I agree sarcasmo
September 20, 2007 - 08:40 ET by Dee Bunkand I think they would do fine with one. It's just more expensive and time consuming. They built it, now we have to come.
I think liberals are more likely to go to T.V. shows and things like that.
Remember the class clowns
September 20, 2007 - 08:50 ET by MightyMouthRemember the class clowns in school Dee? They grew up to be the Colberts and Stewerts of the world. And it's not so strange they are the ones making all the money. Money is possibly the only "reward" they will ever have. :-)
"There are two types of people in this country; those who provide freedom and those who enjoy it." MM says...
Mightymouth - We need to get in on some of that money!
September 20, 2007 - 09:18 ET by Dee BunkIt's time to take back comedy! More of my friends are liberal than conservative, but the funniest people I know happen to be conservative. They just don't make a living at it.
Has anyone here been invited?
September 20, 2007 - 08:52 ET by sarcasmoI mean, I might laugh at the wrong times, but presumably we have an ideal self-selected audience right here on NB. Comedy isn't easy.
I sure couldn't do stand-up without a lot of practice, but conservative comics exist, and libertarian comics are practically a dime a dozen. I'm not saying "go get Tim Slagle, he's your only hope!" but there's gotta be SOMEONE -- say Dennis Miller -- who can rescue conservatives from this laugh-track addiction & draw a live audience. When/if someone like me laughs at the tax and spend drug war instead of laughing at the joke I'm s'posed to laugh-at, NB or Fox News can just edit it out -- the Daily Show proves that's clearly-possible today with Ms. Barber....

Sarc - I think the problem is US
September 20, 2007 - 09:06 ET by Dee BunkI agree with you on the 1/2 hr news hour. They could add an audience, but a podcast? I don't see that happening. The great thing about podcasts is you can do them anywhere anytime and they don't cost much. How many Youtube videos do you see with an audience?
Conservatives have to show that they will support political comedy before someone will take the risk. If Newsbusted becomes successful then others will try to out do it. It's the same thing with 1/2 Newshour. Competition is what will make it better, but no one is going to compete if there isn't an audience.
Have you subscribed yet Sarc?
Not yet...
September 20, 2007 - 09:12 ET by sarcasmoMy main concern, especially if off-color jokes are allowed, is just how I'm going to somehow get my hands on that $50 check, so I'm trying to think-up jokes.

you go guy!
September 20, 2007 - 09:19 ET by Dee BunkI'll be watching for them! : )
time and $$$$$$$$
September 20, 2007 - 13:06 ET by TruthMongerRome was not built in a day...
just like our corrupt MSM:)...
an audience costs alot, lot more $...
unless sarc wants to EP and invest his own dough...:)?
can we try sitting this guy down at an anchor desk? Just try it...should be fairly easy...
Why does the weatherman stand?
September 20, 2007 - 13:47 ET by Dee BunkI think it's in part because there isn't as much visual stimulation. I don't think it would work to have him behind a desk until they get to the point where they can have moving images rather than just pictures.
Sat night Live does a lot of still pictures in their news thing, but still there are two anchors and a lot of different camera angles.
I wouldn't be surprised if they did try it. I really don't see anything wrong with him standing.
This one is
September 20, 2007 - 13:50 ET by Rosmuch much better than the previous efforts. There is definately good material here and I actually laughed.
The Ruth Ginsberg joke was brilliant.
Ros - glad to see you are sticking with it
September 20, 2007 - 14:04 ET by Dee BunkIt's all about support. The more we support it, the better it will get.
PODCAST IT
September 20, 2007 - 05:53 ET by totalkaosdaveTotalKaosDave
How about setting up a link to iTunes and podcast it, so we can download it???
"and more" indeed!
September 20, 2007 - 07:11 ET by sarcasmoIf the joke about 'doing' Ruth Bader Ginsburg made it in, maybe I have a chance at that fifty bucks after-all...I just miss the NB t-shirt model.

Congrats on Most Subscribed list!
September 20, 2007 - 08:23 ET by Dee BunkAnd I know there are many more here who could subscribe. We can do better than #99. What are you guys waiting for!
This was a great episode. Loved the Clinton /Berger and the Souter/Ginsberg one.
Better writing this time, I think
September 20, 2007 - 11:31 ET by RJ....my laugh meter was responding more....and is it my imagination or have they turned down the volume on the laugh track from what it was at the beginning?
Either that, or I've learned to tune it out...
Recommendation: The best of
September 20, 2007 - 12:29 ET by Senior ChiefRecommendation: The best of all entries for the week should be compiled for Sunday eves on FOX's "1/2 Hour News Hour" introduction monologue, like Leno's. Again only the best of 8-10 short ones!
Where's the show taped?
September 20, 2007 - 13:30 ET by CJIf this show, and the 1/2 Hour News Hour are taped in Hollywood or NYC, it may be difficult to find enough conservatives to have an audience. I supposed laugh tracks would be the only reasonable alternative.
Exactly. Just look at shows
September 20, 2007 - 15:52 ET by AJExactly. Just look at shows that are the opposite to NewsBusted. Like The Daily Show. They are filmed in front of liberals and people crack up when Jon makes crude jokes against conservatives. Yet, if you try to make a crude joke against liberals, people will gasp, call you slanderous and sue you.
