Donald Trump Steering Clear of CBS News Interviews?

By Matthew Balan | April 20, 2011 | 15:54

Potential presidential candidate Donald Trump, whose controversial stance on President Obama's birth certificate has made waves in the mainstream media during the past weeks, for one reason or another, has avoided interviews on CBS's morning and evening news programs so far in 2011. In fact, Trump hasn't done an interview on either The Early Show or CBS Evening News in over two years.

Donald Trump; & Ashleigh Banfield, ABC News Correspondent | NewsBusters.orgThe billionaire has made two appearances on ABC's Good Morning America in recent days. Correspondent Ashleigh Banfield interviewed Trump on the March 17 edition of the morning program, while anchor George Stephanopoulos grilled him just over a month later on April 19.

On NBC, Today show host Meredith Vieira put on the star of her network's Apprentice franchise on April 7.  Less than two weeks later, correspondent Michael Isikoff pressed Trump on his business practices during the April 19 edition of NBC Nightly News.

However, in the case of CBS News, the last time one of their personalities interviewed the billionaire was on the March 6, 2009 edition of The Early Show, when former host Harry Smith had him on the program.

Trump hasn't entirely avoided CBS since that interview, as he appeared on Late Night with David Letterman on September 1, 2010 and on March 2, 2011. But it is certainly noteworthy that he has avoided appearing on The Early Show or CBS Evening News.

Could it be his contract with NBC?

Submitted by richb313 on Wed, 04/20/2011 - 5:58pm.

I do not have a clue, nor do I want one, when it comes to what goes on in Donald Trumps head. He is a mildy successful real estate tycoon but he was also taken to the bank by Merv Griffen on a N.J. Casino deal. He does serve one useful function and that is he can bring up things which would destroy anyone else in todays political climate.

As far as his not going on CBS, that might have more to do with his contract with NBC. I do not know but I guess as good as anone else.

Not on CBS

I shall file this along with my vast store of worthless knowledge. Also it does not matter where or who interviews him. He keeps repeating the same thing. Watching him being interviewed is not the high light of my day.

NBC Trump Interview

Submitted by Gat New York on Wed, 04/20/2011 - 6:48pm.

Not sure if you saw this “interview” on the Brian Williams comedy half hour by the fair and balanced reporter Michael Isikoff.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032619/vp/42670940#42670940

I am surprised that you have not reported on it. It was an obvious hit piece by Michael Isikoff that attributed Trump Casino problems in Atlantic City to Trump and not to other marketplace circumstances or even the economy. He was an early supporter of the rebirth of Atlantic City and has stayed with it while others have left. Atlantic City is not a resort casino destination as expected and is only a day trip commuter destination that has been impacted by Indian casinos that are also commuter casinos as well as the economy. But that did not fit in Isikoff's narrative.

He also blamed Trump for the halt in construction of Trump Tower in Tampa and completely ignored the collapse in real estate in Florida which was the real cause. They got a (one) woman who complained that she lost her $45,000 investment (aka down payment on a condo) and blamed Trump. Trump said that she was fortunate that it was not built because she would have lost much more. That is the truth. Isikoff ignored the Florida real estate collapse drove home values down 50% overnight and people lost far more than this condo woman.

And he, of course, ended up on the birther issue by claiming that the issue was settled by Hawaii.

The one thing Isikoff got right was: “Trump owns luxury properties all over the world and makes millions licensing consumer products. He's a brand name and a tough boss.” That admits that Trump is very successful and like all businesspeople with success also comes failures. In Trumps case the successes far outweigh the failures. And if he can do for the United States brand name nearly what he has done for the Trump brand name he will have undone the devastation of Obama and bring a renaissance of success and respect back to the United States.

"Tolerance" and "understanding"? That's a two-way street, 719. You were the one labeling my item (and by hint, others on NewsBusters) "useless." Where was your "tolerance" and "understanding" toward me and my colleagues?

Why should he? That being said, his being the current "frontrunner" is also not news. It is early, and in the real world he has a snowflakes chance in hell of ever being POTUS.

Liberal Media Libel Machine

No conservative in their right mind should give the liberal media libel machine a chance to interrogate them. Make the voters go to FNC to see what they have to say.

To more fully comprehend the Left, one must read “Leftism As Psychopathy” by John Ray, M.A., Ph.D. Caution, it might scare you a little bit.

Obama's 2012 presidential run

Submitted by GreenTea on Thu, 04/21/2011 - 9:25pm.

Obama's 2012 presidential run is very vulnerable, so i hope trump doesn't succeed in winning the republican ticket because if he does then Obama will definitely win in 2012..I wouldn't be surprise that Trump is a plant, like McCain was for the sake of a one world government, to make sure that Obama succeeds in being re-elected
