Headline News Anchor Defends Perez Hilton's Vulgar Comments

During a panel discussion on Tuesday’s No Bias, No Bull program, Jane Velez-Mitchell, the Headline News anchor who replaced Glenn Beck after he switched over to the Fox News Channel, vehemently defended Perez Hilton’s crude remarks against Miss California USA Carrie Prejean. After TruTV’s Lisa Bloom blasted Hilton’s use of “the ‘B’ word and the ‘C’ word, that rhymes with ‘rich and runt,’” Velez-Mitchell replied, “Why is it that people should be very polite when they’re told that they’re second-class citizens?...If someone said to you...I don’t think you should have the right to get married, wouldn’t you be ticked off?”

The panel discussed the controversy between Prejean and Hilton, and besides Bloom and Velez-Mitchell, included CNN correspondents Erica Hill and Jessica Yellin, and anchor Roland Martin. Despite her criticism of Hilton, the TruTV anchor twice expressed her support for gay marriage. Velez-Mitchell herself is not an uninterested party on the wider issue of same-sex “marriage,” as she is an open lesbian who defended anti-Proposition 8 protesters during her Headline News program in November 2008: “I believe that gay marriage should be a right for all Americans. In other words, this should be ok across the country” [video available here; her remarks start 5:25 in].

The Headline News anchor came right out of the gate against Prejean at the beginning of the segment, after Martin asked, “If she had said she supported same-sex marriage, would there be a debate?” She replied, “Yeah. There would be people who are not in favor of same-sex marriage who would have been upset. I think the reason why she didn’t win is her answer was dumb. She referred to heterosexual marriage as opposite marriage, which is funny if it wasn’t so pathetic.”

Bloom then expressed her displeasure with Hilton: “I think Perez Hilton is the one who’s got egg on his face in this controversy after the misogynous language he used referring to her, the ‘B’ word and the ‘C’ word, that rhymes with ‘rich and runt’ ....I mean, he’s got a lot of nerve. I think he’s the one who should be apologizing. And by the way, I agree with him on gay marriage.” Velez-Mitchell answered back, “Why is it that people should be very polite when they’re told that they’re second-class citizens? Why should people sit there and be oh so very polite? If someone said to you, Roland, I don’t think you should have the right to get married, wouldn’t you be ticked off?”

Martin hinted that he agreed with Bloom: “Here’s the deal though. He makes this comment about her -- ‘C’ word, the ‘B’ word. What if she uses the ‘F’ word to him? Then what happens?...I mean, he’s been very rude with his comments.” He would later say Hilton’s use of the two crude terms was “not a smart move” and criticized the fact that he asked the question in the first place: “If you don’t want the answer, don’t ask the question.”

Though she didn’t defend Hilton directly, Yellin twice snarked against Prejean during the segment. Responding to the beauty queen’s remark on the Today Show that she was trying to be “biblically-correct” with her answer, the correspondent replied, “How can she be talking about biblically correct when she is prancing around in a teeny-weeny bikini?” Yellin also later criticized her answer to the marriage question: “She wants to be a spokesmodel, she should know enough not to make news, to avoid the sticky issue.”

Velez-Mitchell took criticism of the Prejean’s answer to another level. Earlier in the program, when Martin and Bloom seemed to brush aside the seriousness of an “intelligence component” to beauty pageants, the Headline News anchor bluntly replied, “I don’t think it’s just -- oh, it’s her opinion. What if she expressed a racist opinion or an anti-Semitic opinion or a sexist opinion? That would be okay? No. Your opinion isn’t always okay, especially when you want to be the winner of this kind of pageant.”

Near the end of the segment, Erica Hill took up Bloom’s argument against Hilton’s remark and added to it: “As we’re talking about Perez Hilton, one of the things that has come up, especially today, was his treatment of her afterwards. And the fact that if he is, in fact, trying to advance his cause and to gain support...for same-sex marriage, and to get people to understand hey, I’m just like you -- that going out and calling her a ‘B’ and a ‘C,’ and saying I take my apology back, may not be the best way to go about it.” Velez-Mitchell shot back, “The war to end slavery -- women didn’t get the right to vote by being polite. They got shamed. They were arrested, they were suffragettes. Getting polite doesn’t get you anywhere.”

Another example of the lunacy of CNN. Legitimizing hate & anger

towards anyone dissenting on gay marriage.

Why am I not surprised?

"If someone said to

"If someone said to you...I don’t think you should have the right to get married, wouldn’t you be ticked off?”

But Perez Hilton does have the right to get married. He just can't marry a pig, a cow, his dog, another man, three women, or a lamppost. What part of this doesn't Jane Velez-Mitchell understand?

“Why is it that people should be very polite when they’re told that they’re second-class citizens?"

Perez Hilton isn't a 2nd-class citizen. He's a no-class, rude little punk.

They asked her what SHE thought not what HILTON thought.

"DumbAssity of Dope"

Therein lies the problem.

Miss Prejean articulated her thoughts well.

On the other hand, Mario Lavandeira--the man... er, the individual who goes by the nom de voyage "Perez Hilton"--demonstrates with each new pronouncement that he doesn't put a neuron's worth of thought into what he says.

Side note: I was reminded this morning that the unfortunate waste of bandwidth known as PerezHilton.com used to go by a different name.

It used to be known as PageSixSixSix.com.

What a surprise...

Jane and Janeane

I wonder if Jane Velez-Mitchell thinks Tea Party participants shouldn't have to be "polite" after the way Janeane Garofalo et al referred to them as "second class citizens."

Are Tea Party goers allowed to be ticked off, too, Jane?

Marriage has been b/w a man and woman for many centuries....

Marriage has been between a man and woman for many centuries and, SUDDENLY, in 2009, it's America that is "oppressive" and "close-minded" for not allowing men to marry men and women to marry women!!!  BAD, BAD, BAD AMERICA!!!

Oh, and we're all, of course, treating these poor people like 2nd class citizens.  The Aggrieved Victim Card, well-worn, in play again.  Hysterical.

BTW, can you imagine if some conservative blogger or celebrity was on the judging panel (yeah, fat chance, I know) and asked a contestant if she was pro-life or pro-2nd amendment....No need to take it any farther than that.  Can you IMAGINE the absolute $H*T storm that would ensue from the left, CNN, MS-NBC et al based on that question being asked alone?

Precisely and Amen!

So, it'd be OK to call Obama the c & b word and to ..

So, it'd be OK to call Obama the "c" & "b" word  (or choice vile slang with a more masculine tilt) and to .. "f" off?

Barack Obama opposes same-sex marriage. And a number of other leading Democrats and 'loved by the left' recognized folks aren't too comfy with gay marriage.

Politeness

Hilton's reaction, and Ms. Velez-Mitchelle's clearly indicate to Carrie Prejean - and the rest of us who support traditional marriage - that we are "second class citizens" whose right to free speech and free expression of religion don't matter.

So if we were to call Hilton a "fag" or Velez-Mitchell a "c*nt", that would be justified?

Aut viam inveniam aut faciam

Justified, no.  Accurate,

Justified, no.  Accurate, yes.

Another example of the double standards of liberalism

Carrie Prejean answered the question honestly and politely--WITHOUT PASSING JUDGEMENT ON ANYONE.  If anyone felt like they are "second class" citizens because of their remarks, then they must not be comfortable with their own lifestyle.

Velez-Mitchell says that she shouldn't have to be polite because she feels that she is being treated like a 2nd class citizen.   She then turns around and says it's okay for Hilton to treat Carrie as a 2nd class citizen by calling her the 'b' word.

No one watches CNN anyway--more people get their news from Comedy Central's Daily Show than from CNN.

I wish someone had told me I couldn't get married.  It would have prevented a lot of headaches and heartaches.

LOL

When I see some guys being led around by the nose and having to ask their wives' permission to breath I am glad I'm single.

CNN, pleeeeeez go under,

CNN, pleeeeeez go under, and soon.

What used to be a cool innovation is just so tired and 'hackish' now.

One of the 34% who thinks George W. Bush was a great President. One of the 61% who wants to bring back the stock and pillory (yep...approval for Congress now at 39%...do you believe that!?).

The revolution isn't yet

The revolution isn't yet totally complete. wait until every show on TV makes it clear that they support far left positions, every single show. Every single childrens book too.

Everything will be politicized in favor of the left until they start setting up their detention and concentration camps.

Why Would Anyone Support A Hate-Filled Bigot?

I don't care what your personal feelings or views are on the subject of same-sex marriage.  Perez Hilton's YouTube rant was hate-filled, dispicable, bigotted and foul.  His self-absorbed tirade is the best example of what a real hate crime is, because there is nothing but hate spewed on this video.  And Velez-Mitchell is a fool to support this disgusting person.  The homosexual's intolerance for anyone who doesn't support their position is disturbing, but no one has the cajones to call them on the carpet for spreading hate.  It's a vicious double standard.

The fool

The fool hath said in his heart, "There is no God."

Hi sentforth!

I just typed that very same thing last night.  I am glad to see you again!

“Why is it that people should be very polite when they’re told t

“Why is it that people should be very polite when they’re told that they’re second-class citizens?

You mean like two networks treating as second-class citizens people, who are exercising their rights to free speech and taking part in the political system, by calling them racist rednecks and teabaggers?

Selective outrage, thy name is liberal.

Perez Hilton is a man eater.

Why was that maniac Hilton judging a beauty contest? That
is kind of like asking Hannibal Lechter if he would judge the vegetable displays at the county fair. Both of these pukes are man eaters and you know the judging will be biased.

Perez.....

Why isn't that hate speech.  Little C words like him are so against hate speech and yet the b**chy little fairy is using it over an American citizens right to free speech.  Why was he a judge anyway?  It was a beauty pagent, not a "queen" pagent.  Perez, go smoke a sausage you freakin' c**&t.

VELEZ-MITCHELL IS RIGHT.

VELEZ-MITCHELL IS RIGHT. ***Disclaimer for the morons*** I DO NOT SUPPORT HOMOSEXUAL MARRIAGE. ****

That said, Velez Mitchell is right! If someone told any of us that we couldn't get married or that our marriages should summarily be annulled, all hell would break out and I doubt that any of us would be civil.

The problem is not Perez (hellbound homo) Hilton, no sir. The problem is ALL OF US who have lost the ability to object to PERVERSION and who CRAWL around like neutered CURS mumbling about "states rights"! That's the PROBLEM. The problem is that we think we can deny people something that we have NO LEGAL REASON to deny them and expect them to be fine with it! There is a CLEAR violation of the equal protection clause which if anything, just shows the FLAWS in the constitution which is man made and not sent from God. The problem is that we no longer have the BALLS the great hairy swingin' pair to say , "Homosexuals are a ABOMINATION in the sight of God and we will not tolerate their rise in our society and we CERTAINLY will NEVER change the definition of MARRIAGE to include the perversion they inflict on one another".

It is ridiculous to expect people to agree with the limitations you seek to place on their lives, that however, does not change the fact that some limitations must be placed! I don't care how some FREAKCTY like Hilton "feels" I don't care about his sissy fit, I care about the courageous young girl who in faltering fashion found the courage to say, "this far and NO FURTHER".

If you slide around looking for vague legalistic reasons to oppose something, about which your opposition is not really "legal" aren' t you just a LIAR? I don't know ANYONE who dislikes gays, their infiltration into our schools, their teaching of perversion to our children and their elimination of the words MOTHER AND FATHER from California textbooks, who does so on the basis of "law". If for instance you were suddenly in the minority, if the liberals brainwashed everyone and magically CHANGED THE LAW. Or if in five years, the libs manage to "win the hearts and minds" of the country and EVERY STATE has a majority which is FOR queer union, would you then be FOR IT? Would all of your moral and religious objection disappear now that you are in the minority? Sadly, this is probably true for a lot of folks, the "band-wagoneers", if you will. But most folks who object to homosexuality or gay marriage wouldn't be swayed by the popular or LEGAL opinion of others! Which means that the objection in the end, al fin, as they say in español, is that homosexuality is wrong BECAUSE GOD said so. Period.

By relying on legalisms to oppose something morally you have already weakened your argument. Even "debating" the issue does your side a disservice because logically you have no real reason to object. It's as TRANSPARENT a DODGE as Al Gore's weakly offered, "there is no controlling authority" , when discussing his illegal acceptance of Commie dollars!

The Catholic Church has this right AND it's even in LINE with biblical teaching, rare for them, I know! Homosexuality is a DISORDER, a DEFECT, a perversion of the natural order to that which is against nature ( Romans 1:22-32). If a man had not invented a condom most homosexual men and a whole bunch of lezbos, would be DEAD from AIDS.

To argue that a lifestyle which cannot be practiced BUT FOR a technological invention, is in anyway "natural" is an absurdity. When there are natural prohibitions like a disease which would wipe you all out as well as religious prohibitions against a behavior ( Gen 19, Sodom and Gommorah) it's just plain WRONG.

We shouldn't slide around and try to protect peoples "feelings" when giving an answer. Their feelings are being manipulated by Satan in the first place to desire the overthrow of God's natural order. So they are going to hate you for your opposition no matter how much cotton candy you pack it with.

well said

well said Acts.  Stupid laws are made by stupid people because of stupid people.

I've said this before:  In order for government social programs to work, we must all be fitted in.  Those who do not fit in voluntarily must be coersed.  That's why they build walls around socialist countries, to keep everyone in the "enjoy" the "benefits".

The Obamanation has shown he's weak, apologetic and he's the left wing's b*&#h.  Our country has become a laughing stock in the world.  Perez's in your face coercion of the Miss America pagent is just the beginning of the toilet Obama is turning this country into.  There are stupid people out there and when you get to close to them, they get stupid all over everyone.  You couldn't bathe the stupid off of some people.

Just wait, we will all be coerced somehow to be fitted into an ideology of depravity.

Why the attack on the Catholic Church?

It never ceases to amaze me how frequently certain evangelicals attack Catholics. Maybe because they were never taught proper christian values.
