It appears that CNN’s “Michelle mania” has reached a new level. After referring to the Obamas as the “royal family of the United States” on April 1, the network conducted a web “quick vote” on Monday on whether the first lady should run for her husband’s position in 2020.
The results, however, did not bode well for “mighty Michelle,” as one guest on CNN labeled Mrs. Obama. Before the poll was taken down, 83% were opposed to the idea, while 17% were in favor. As the graphic states plainly, it is not a scientific poll.
As much as this “Michelle mania” is apparently running rampant abroad, as the network would lead you to believe from these reports, these results may mean that “America’s unofficial royalty” have some obstacles to overcome before any political dynasty could become a reality.

She's facing an uphill
April 6, 2009 - 17:06 ET by taterShe's facing an uphill battle...first she has to be given a senate seat from some liberal state, not really do anything with that seat, then run for president. But she will probably lose when the next liberal flavor of the month comes around that the media falls in love with.

April 6, 2009 - 17:21 ET by Gary HallMatthew - will they mention the poll results on the air? One might just suggest that had the yes votes been over 50% they would have.
This is reminiscent of the on-line poll conducted by MSNBC - If you were grading Barack Obama on his performance as president, what would he get?, and covered on NB yesterday. In that one w/ 1,745,287 votes in:
What will MSNBC and CNN do with the news? Will they manage to report it on air? Will Matthews or Maddow or Olbermann find room for a brief mention? Will Jack Cafferty have a fit and blame the poor showing by Michelle on Rush?

I don't know. As a conservative, your conservatism probably neutralizes the innoculation your skin color may normally provide against the accusation of racism - to a liberal. You may be accused of being a black racist against blacks - or something like that... :)

I am sick and tired of hearing that he is black. He is not black! He came from the womb of a white mother! He is bi-racial! He knows nothing about the struggle of blacks because he did not live here. Read his book and he talks about that. He capitalized on this. As far as change, how many blacks are in high level positions in this administration? If I am wrong about this, let me know! This black woman is not fooled by this at all. It is a facade. The msm sound so phoney about their praise of them. They are looking like idiots every day! Their credibilty is RUINED! They sound racist to me and so condescending also. I am a conservative christian and I am proud of it! A proud woman of color! April 7, 2009 - 16:09 ET by CamelopardalisAre you familiar with the 'one-drop rule'? Granted it is a relic of the outdated Jim Crow era, but it was white people who began refering to biracial people to be no different from full-blooded black people (assuming that they were not light enough to full everyone into thinking they were full-blooded white people). I understand your point; technically Obama is biracial. But understand that part of the reason that he may be refered to as a black person is not to particularly deny half of his heritage, but because when people look at him (past and present), most just see a black man. And he will be treated as such.
And before you say that his light skin makes him look biracial, there are plenty black people who are as light as him who are not biracial. Just so you know.

83% say NO????
April 6, 2009 - 19:14 ET by pbthinkerWhen does a poll show how out of touch you are with the world? When 83% of the people vote no on it. I'm sure the person that came up with it pictured a somewhat different result.
These Liberals are really off the reservation with their thought process. Of course the voters are responsible for it since, as I see it at least, the majority of them voted for change and electing the first black president, with no regard as to what it meant.
It's going to be interesting to see how Obama's strategy to blame every problem on Bush is going to work for him. Once he tells everyone how he's doing things different and they still don't work out, who will he blame then.

April 7, 2009 - 09:24 ET by Meredith1966Did anyone see the series finale of "Life on Mars" last week? Towards the end, one of the characters relayed a message to the main folks from 'President Obama' and how he was sorry the president couldn't deliver the message herself because her father was apparently in ill health (obviously, this was set in the future). I thought, 'Geez, the guy has only been in office less than 3 months and they're already planning for his daughter(s) to be President?' Now I see that they're including his wife, too, before we ever get to the daughters. I'm now searching frantically in the recesses of my mind to recall TV show fantasy references from late March, 2001, to a future President Bush and her father and grandfather...
