John Roberts, CNN Anchor; & Carol Costello, CNN Correspondent | NewsBusters.orgDuring a short segment on Wednesday’s American Morning, CNN anchor John Roberts responded to the excited demeanor of the crowds attending President Barack Obama’s inauguration by labeling the festivity “Barack-stock.” Earlier in the segment, correspondent Carol Costello dubbed it “a gigantic love fest” after she stated how there were no serious incidents or arrests involving the approximately 1.5 million people in attendance for the inauguration.

The three-minute segment, which began 20 minutes into the 7 am Eastern hour of the CNN program, focused on the reactions of those in attendance on the National Mall for the swearing-in of President Obama. After giving her “gigantic love fest” label, Costello gave a gushing account about what it was like to be in the middle of the crowd there: “Suddenly, someone would just come up and hug you. It was just amazing. It was -- it was like you were standing in the middle of these strangers, and all of a sudden, you had a million friends around you. That’s what it felt like yesterday.”

Once she played some clips of some of the interviews she took from people on the Mall, Costello commented on how easy it was for her to find people to appear on camera. Roberts responded with his “Barack-stock” label:

COSTELLO: You know, usually, you have a little bit of a problem getting people to agree to be on television, but not yesterday. People were begging to be on TV. They wanted their thoughts recorded. They were very much aware that history was being made, and they wanted to be a part of it in whatever way they could.

JOHN ROBERTS: It really was ‘Barack-stock’ -- peace, love, and history.

COSTELLO: It really was.

Earlier in the week, ABC’s Diane Sawyer referred to a pre-inauguration concert as “Obama-stock” as a graphic proclaimed “Inauguration of Barack Obama: The American Pilgrimage.”

Well, DC did look like a bunch of hippies had been there and trashed it, so I can see the comparison. There also was the same hippie "cult-like" mentality as the 60's.

I can see the point.

We all know much woodstock really changed things.  It didn't.

I saw

...  Joe-ColdAsHell, but bar-stock, I don't think they allowed drinking on the mall. Drugs maybe, but open bottles are not permitted.

???-stock....

Maybe it was meant in the vein of "livestock" since his followers are more like sheep or cattle being led by the nose.  They have no idea that the slaughter-house is right around a few sharp left turns!  Further, as I actually did predict, this crowd of "livestock" left the scene as I'm sure they do in their own neighborhoods, a complete pig sty!  Gee, Orwells' "Animal Farm" seems to be coming to fruition, or as P-Diddy (or whatever he's calling himself these days) would say, florition.

Livestock! That's it! I knew someone on here would figure it out. And, I agree with you, AF has come to "florition." LOL

Not to criticize Newsbusters but....

About the last 4-6 stories have been about MSM outlets making gushing praise from how wonderful the inauguration was etc. etc. etc.  I understand it is your job to point out media bias but is there any NORMAL thinking person especially those that peruse this site that aren't convinced by now that the MSM is in Obama's pocket?  Everyone knows MSNBC, CNN et. al have lost the mantle of 'credible journalism' and are now partisan tabloid hacks for Obama.

My point is, I find myself somewhat bored by this constant presentation of what someOTHER dumb ass media outlet gushed about Obama.  Aren't there other better stories at this point than the inauguration?  That's not being snotty or derisive.  I just want to see one of my favorite websites going back to the things I didn't know or was aware of.  I don't find it terribly enlightening to read yet another story about how "Chris Matthews had a big woody on during the inauguration yesterday".  Thank you.

Well,

if the MSM would quit peeing down their leg about it and actually report other things, I'm sure other subjects would be brought up here.

I, too am sick of seeing what a circle jerk the MSM is too, but, that's what we have to deal with for now.

If, by Obama-stock, they

If, by Obama-stock, they are comparing this crowd to Woodstock, I agree...a bunch of hygiene-challenged, unemployable cultist losers looking to a pop culture figure to make themselves feel important.

This is the...

same John Roberts who questioned "Joe the Plumber" laughter at questioning Robert's journalistic integrity.  Let's see, John, "Barack-stock?"  Journalistic integrity, my rear-end.  You guys are drinking the Kool-Aid so much.  What's next?  If he tells you to leap off a cliff will you do it?

The problem is Newsbusters can't cover much else because the media isn't covering much else.  They are still swooning over this guy so much, it's like a teenage girl with a crush on her favorite pop star.

It makes me ill.
