Newsweek’s Evan Thomas and Jon Meacham shared a bizarre Obama love-fest session with Charlie Rose on the PBS host’s program on Wednesday. Meacham stated that he was "very struck watching the stagecraft" of Obama and pointed out how Obama gave his victory speech by himself: "...[H]ave you ever seen a victory speech where there was no one else on stage? No adoring wife, no cute kid -- he is the message." Thomas went one step further in this vein: "There is a slightly creepy cult of personality about all of this." Rose confronted him on his use of this phrase, and he explained that it made him "a little uneasy that he's so singular. He's clearly managing his own spectacle. He knows how to do it. He's a -- I think, a deeply manipulative guy..." Later, all three marveled about how it was "amazing" that Obama "watches us watching him."
Thomas and Meacham appeared during the second segment of Rose’s program on Wednesday night. The host first asked Thomas about how Obama seemed to be "always in charge of this campaign." After giving an anecdote about a meeting in which Obama discussed his vice presidential pick with his advisers, Thomas commented that Obama is very inclusive, yet very self-contained. It's an unusual leadership style."
Rose then turned to Meacham and asked if it was known when he decided that he wanted to be president. Meacham first joked that it was just after the now president-elect had left eighth grade, and then continued in the same line of thought as his Newsweek colleague: "I think, to play off what Evan just said, he's -- he is very elusive -- Obama, which is fascinating for a man who has written two memoirs. He's the chief custodian of the story of Obama. He is a stand-alone brand."
The three then had their exchange over Obama’s "creepy cult of personality:"
MEACHAM: I was very struck watching the stagecraft -- and this comes out again and again in the project -- in Grant Park [Chicago], he walks out with the family, and then they go away. Biden’s back, you know, locked in the bar or something, you know --
(Rose laughs.)
MEACHAM: They don’t let him out. And have you ever seen a victory speech where there was no one else on stage? No adoring wife, no cute kid -- he is the message.
THOMAS: There is a slightly creepy cult of personality about all of this. I mean, he is such an admirable --
ROSE: ‘Slightly creepy cult of personality’?
THOMAS: Yes.
ROSE: What’s ‘slightly creepy’ about it?
THOMAS: It just makes me a little uneasy that he’s so singular. He’s clearly managing his own spectacle. He knows how to do it. He’s a -- I think, a deeply manipulative guy -- you know, this could be a useful thing in a leader --
ROSE: How so is he ‘deeply manipulative’?
THOMAS: I think he's always in control, you know -- he controls events, events don't control him. He's a pretty calm guy. He seem to be able to get people to do pretty much what he wants.
I think the key moment, to answer your question -- when did he have this inking. I think it's when he was running for -- to be the president of the Harvard Law Review. He would spend a lot of time searching for himself, and deciding that he was a black man -- and he goes to Harvard and there's this politically-correct frought time, and there are conservatives and there are liberals. He manages to persuade all of them that he's on their side....And he realizes that people want to help him. They want to help him. It makes people feel good to help -- And this is an important insight for him. Oh my gosh, I have this gift. I have this knack. People are going to want to help -- want to help me. I'll let them help me, all the way to the White House. I'll bet you that was the first time. That's when he starts to write his memoir, and the memoir stops before he gets to Harvard....He leaves out the critical chapter, because I think the critical moment then is when he realizes he has got this gift, and he is going to ride it as far as he possibly can.
Meacham then "slightly disagreed" with his colleague’s "slightly creepy" assessment, and compared Obama to FDR and Reagan. Rose replied to this by gushing over the president-elect’s charisma and ability to speak. The two Newsweek editors wholeheartedly agreed.
MEACHAM: He writes in ‘Audacity of Hope’ -- and I think every presidential candidate should have to write memoirs because they are inadvertently revealing often, but he’s very explicit. He understands the character of Obama in this drama he's constructed. It's fascinating. He says, ‘I am a screen on which people project their visions, their hopes,’ and he could be a redemptive figure as long as race was implicit and not explicit. As long as he was as, you know, smart as he could be, work as hard as he could -- as Evan says, create a FDR-like circle around him with everyone trying to help him, he could be the center of attention, the star of this, and that's, I think -- and this is -- I slightly disagree. I don't think it's creepy. I think it's -- I think it's like Reagan. I think it's like great charismatic leaders who project brilliantly, but who are, in fact, in control -- very much in control behind the scenes.
ROSE: Watching him last night -- that speech when he’s out there alone, and watching him in Denver, same thing -- when he's making a speech. He -- he knows the power of his ability to speak, and there is at the end, when he finishes it -- you know, with certain speakers, there's a kind -- they're overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of the moment.
MEACHAM: Right, right.
ROSE: You know? And that they're walking from -- and his is a much more -- he finishes, and he sort of -- it’s almost like he then ascends to look at the circumstance --
MEACHAM: He watches us watching him.
ROSE: Exactly. He does --
MEACHAM: It's amazing.
ROSE: It is amazing.
MEACHAM: And, you know, you read about Bobby -- Bobby Kennedy fed off it, right?
THOMAS: Oh, absolutely. I mean, it was a direct elemental contact.
ROSE: And so does -- so does Bill Clinton.
THOMAS: He is more closer to Jack [Kennedy]. Jack was the one who could stand back and watch himself being watched.
What really is "creepy" is watching these three talk about Obama.

Shouting CHANGE We Can Believe In without knowing what that CHANGE will be is crazy and irrational behavior, to say the least. The branch of social psychology known as crowd psychology or crown behavior is certainly beyond my understanding. But I have read that Gustave Le Bon, a French psychologist who died in 1931 believed that propaganda was a "suitable and rational technique for managing groups." Barack Obama is an expert in propaganda.

I really fear that human decency has lost - it's what has me shaken up the most. No one is too small to escape their persecution. It's like an army of Saddam type minders ready to turn in their friends and neighbors who don't tow the Obama Messiah line. Then they gleefully watch and laugh as the person is destroyed just for having a different opinion. Truly scary. None of the liberals here that some find friendly and "moderate" even had a problem with the attacks on Palin and Joe the Plumber. Some even gleefully joined in.
We have two really bad choices - One is to go full force & stoop to their level of hate, and ends justifies the means mentality (figure out ways to cheat and raise $600 million), or be silent and join "the party" and make the best of it. I'm leaning toward the latter and it has me so depressed that I can barley function. We really have lost our freedom here.

My Obamaniac brother, two days after the election, called to get my reaction. I listened to him literally sounding like he was in a trance, describing how the greatest moment in history just happened, and he was a part of it because he was an Obama voter. He was a history major, he understood history and particularly political history, and he knew he'd seen something transcendent happen, and he was so proud of his country for the first time in years.
The conversation bounced around for about 45 minutes or so in a relatively sane manner, and then when I made a remark about "Our Lord Messiah, Barack Hussein Obama, who scared the markets so badly that the stocks tanked for two days...", he blew his stack. "Now, stop that. The election's over. I know you Republicans have some kind of pathological hatred for brown arabs, but that's gotta stop."
Say WHAT? What does BarryO tanking the markets have to do with some kind of racism involving brown arabs? So, I'm not aloud to make a sarcastic remark just because you watched History Being Made (TM)? And if I do, I'm a racist who hates brown Arabs? I thought the evidence is pretty clear that Obama is a mixed-race Kenyan, but maybe I'm wrong.

Can't remember where I heard it, but a couple of drive-time comedy DJs on a station with a more conservative bent decided to check if Obama supporters actually knew anything about their candidate's positions. They chose three McCain positions (pro-life, pro-Iraq war, pro-ANWR drilling) and for kicks decided to ask their opinion about his running mate, Sarah Palin. One of the show's staffers found a city neighborhood business area heavily dotted with Obama signs, and the DJ set up shop there. A typical interview went like this:
I've heard the tape, and every single person they interviewed--all black males, mind you--would vote for Obama, would support John McCain's positions, and thought Sarah Palin would be a great VP. The DJ said, after they played the tapes on the air and laughed on air at the sheer blind uniformity of their support for Obama, that he couldn't decide what upset him more--the fact that these black males were definitely going to vote for Obama without understanding a single thing he stood for and without even knowing who Obama's running mate was, or that these same black men could get behind conservative positions and seemed to understand those pretty well (life is sacred; supporting the troops during wartime, moving toward energy independence) but wouldn't vote for a conservative on a bet.
After hearing the tape, I am now more frightened than ever at four (or more) years under Our Lord Messiah Barack Hussein Obama. I pray every day for the strength to live to 2010, our first chance to throw the leftist bums out.

Jack Kennedy was an officer type leader and that is what his crowd reaction was an aspect of. He lead, took pleasure from the adoration and enjoyed the dominance.
Bobby Kennedy was a squeeky speaker who was giving crowds the doped up Jack Kennedy high flashback they were yearning for. Hence the dope heads who followed him thought the stoned experience was much more delightful than the sober people watching.
Barack Obama gave his pivitol performance on the David Letterman program as he was fracturing at that point. Mr. Obama when abandoned as I have profiled fused as a 10 year old child. That is who Mr. Obama is. He is not eerily watching you, but is a child studying these objects termed adults waiting for them to tell him to wash up and go to bed, and say his prayers to God and not himself or he will be spanked.
In the Letterman profile account I broke the story on, Barry appeared for several minutes as the 10 year old. This kid is delightful in he bursts into the biggest smiles and is very pleasant.
I warned Axelfod and Plouffe to get this guy help in Christian counselling, but they kept running him and Obama has now fused into a deeper psychological wall which America does not need breaking down in a crisis as he will react in violence and will be very unstable.
The more times one is broken, the harder they become. Mr. Obama has gone from this 10 year old to a more malevolent teenager who is harder. Think of him as Lord of the Flies in little boys being little boys, but acting more beasty as they get away with more things without adult supervision.
Joe Biden is an adult, but he has been so castrated and isolated that I don't think he can be the Al Gore telling Bill Clinton to get his head out as Biden is in limbo.
For what it is worth, Joe Biden holds America in the balance now these media fawnlings have created.
The Obama they are seeing is this child who is quite confused. The Obama I was observing today outside his residence was his feminine side like a 14 year old girl before her first dance not understanding a thing she has got herself into.
I warned these liberals in the media not to do this as Obama is very fragile and in part what I'm revealing here has been watched by the psychological units from Moscow to London to Peking. They know exactly how Barack Obama will react, know how to lead him to react in the way they desire and use him to achieve the global strategy they desire at the expense of America.
This is why the central Europeans have kicked the hell out of the derivates market to install this chameleon in an empty suit.
America is in jeopardy and it has no time to do anything with Obama as the enemies of America will not wait. I had hoped that Joe Biden would be of Dick Cheney quality, but Biden has literally disappeared so we are going to be left with Rahm Emanuel telling Obama what to do until the child throws a fit.
This is the nightmare I had hoped God would save the United States from. The biggest dolts in media marvel at Obama and do not comprehend the marvel is a 10 year old boy with an attitude wondering when the adults are going to tell him recess is over and to get off the stage.

People have been telling him what to do his whole life one way or the other. I suspect his wife is much like HIllary, behind the scenes, influencing the major decisions, protecting. They spoke of leadership sytle being odd. I taught leadership in the military for a number of years. I looked long and hard and did not see any leadership style(s). I saw a rock star being created and managed by others and a huge PR machine in the MSM. They are still at it with his cabinet appointments. Creating an aura of sophistication and political talents where none exists. Like Hollywood, it is faux store fronts and sets. The illusion will only last so long, he will be tested (along with us) and I am convinced he will crumble. This is the big leagues and he has zero experience in these matters. He isn't ready so we better be.

November 7, 2008 - 23:24 ET by JeanieThey got the manipulative part right. Obama is manipulative. I've been to several comment boards, and read comments from both sides. One of my favorites, from the Obama supporters is.... Obama never went negative. John McCain went negative, but Obama never did.
Obama never had to. He had thousands , if not millions of supporters, and Obamabots, not to mention 90% of the press, and msms' doing his negative campaigning for him. Unfair advantage, Obama knew it, and manipulated it. Not to mention those mysterious you tube videos that were there, then gone, and traced back to an acquaintance of Axelrod.
The part these gentlemen get wrong is....that Obama is in control of his scene. He is to some extent, but he's also being walked thru every step, or he's seeking advice, on how to walk thru. He is clueless, and is clearly not ready to assume the job he sought. That was abundantly clear, in the nervous joke he told today, at the expense of Mrs. Reagan. The press conference, was a whole new ball game, from standing in front of grand pillars in front of masses of adoring fans, and giving a prepared, pre written, and rehearsed speech, via a teleprompter.
He's in the big league now, and he's totally clueless. Just look at the tension on his face. He was stressing, and thought the joke would ease that. It didn't. It was offensive to many, that still look up to Ronald, and Nancy Reagan, and yes...it was a cheap shot. He took it. Which pretty much tells us what the next 4 years will be like. Riddled with cheap shots.
Lastly....no one really says this much, but I'm going to. Obama came in an era, where the equal rights movement, was just getting into full force, thanks to MLK. Barack, like myself, was but a mere toddler during those years, and while he heard stories, he can never really relate to the experience, anymore than I can. I've heard stories from Uncles about Viet Nam, but I can't even beging to comprehend what it was really like for these men. Especially for McCain, and all the POW's.
That said...Obama grew up, in his formative years, with grandparents who adored him, but with a mother, who was so confused in her own life, she wasn't prepared to deal with the ramifications of having a son, that was of mixed race. In those days, that was rare, and like it or not, frowned apon. I personally have no issue with it, but I still see the stigmatism of girls having babies out of wedlock today. Yes, progression is there, but there's still that tinge of disdain for it.
Obama had to come to terms with who he is. Is he white? Is he black? Who is he? One of the reasons we don't know much about him, is because he doesn't know much about him. He embraced his fathers African side, and that's cool....but he adored his grandmother, and gave her credit for a lot of who he is today. He's a lost soul, and he's trying to find his niche. His way. He's a fantastic actor. He portrays himself well, as this cool, calm, and well versed individual, but inside, he's a scared little boy....looking for a friend. Looking for someone to accept him unconditionally, for who he is. A true friend, who is color blind, nonjudgemental, and with a love he seeks, but never truly found.
Remember....he didn't seek out Frank Davis. Obama's grandfather brought him to meet Frank. His grandfather was instrumental in teaching Obama about communism, by that introduction.
This is why, I have a hard time with Obama. This is why he flip flops. He's unsure of anything, but that he sought out something he wasn't prepared for, in the hopes of having someone like him.
These 3 gentlemen, as I see it, and all of this is just my opinion, but as I see these 3, I see many many like this. Perhaps their overexhuberance for Obama isn't because they see him as a messiah, or one that equates to Lincoln, and destined for Icon greatness. No. Perhaps their enthusiasm is their mask. No one likes to be called a racist. And that accusation went to many, that didn't agree with Obama's politics, and I can assure you, color wasn't my issue, ideology was, and still is. I abhor socialism. However, those that had the tingles, and the unexplainable awe, and worship of Obama...perhaps those were what some needed to do, so that their true feelings weren't seen? I'm not saying they are racists, but perhaps, in how they carried themselves, and expressed themselves was their way of showing they are not racist. In my opinion though....it was overkill. Big time!!!

Among the ones catching my eye were the story about the history-major Obama-junkie brother, as well as the comment describing Thomas's reaction, counter-reaction, and "corrective reflex" as his zombielike Obama-happiness/Obama-enthrallment kicked back in. That comment bears reposting:

Good assessment. That about sums up the weirdness. "Creepy" doesn't even make it. We have entered into the surreal. It's all happening right before our eyes.

I fear we will all find out just how creepy this guy really is and it is not going to be pretty, he has the whole group in Washington on his side, he may be able to circumvent the Constitution and make hay for four years. What will we become as a nation is any ones guess ,but my guess is a less free, less liberty and less individuality.
I recommend that people who care about their children remove them from the public school systems I did this 5 years ago when I realized that goals 2000 was coming to fruition . We need to insure that our history does not slide by our young minds we need to make sure they know whence we came . I suggest you go out and buy if you can find one, an American history book from the 50's and 60's teach your children our history from it .
