CNN Runs Graphic on McCain’s History of Cancer After Palin Speech

CNN GraphicJust as Sarah Palin concluded her speech, CNN ran a graphic 8 minutes into the 11 pm Eastern hour of its coverage of the Republican convention about John McCain’s history of cancer as the Alaska governor was waving to the cheering crowd [see the graphic at right].

Just over 40 minutes later, Carl Bernstein, as he brought up the issue of Palin’s qualifications to be vice president, speculated about Palin stepping up to be the presidential nominee if something happened to McCain (cancer, for example): "[S]he showed she's going to be a great cultural warrior, which is something very different than a qualified vice president. She might be a great Republican Secretary of the Interior -- 'drill, drill, drill' -- but ask the question -- and I think the Democrats will ask this -- suppose something happens to -- were to happen to John McCain between now and the election. Would this be the Republicans' candidate for President of the United States? At some point, we're going to go back to the qualification question."

Just curious if this will be the next lie.

Could anyone cite some sources as to how and where this allegation about Palin's baby being her daughter's has been "debunked"?

Aside from the candidate herself "saying" that her daughter is 5 months pregnant so it couldn't possibly be her baby, I haven't seen anything conclusively proving anything (and I'll bet there will be a "miscarriage" before the kids get married). I've seen confirmation of the wide shock and disbelief when she announced "her" pregnancy at 7 months, including the media and even her own staff: http://www.adn.com/front/story/336402.html.

I've seen confirmation that she gave birth one month later to 6+ pound child after not even "showing" a month earlier! : http://www.adn.com/news/alaska/story/380134.html I've seen a lack of a birth listing for that day at the hospital (and the days before and after) when she supposedly delivered: http://www.matsuregional.com/nursery/show_day.php?date=2008-04-18.

I've seen confirmation questioning the wisdom of a long trip back home of a woman with a known special needs fetus, water breaking a month early of due date and not even notifying the airline/airplane staff of her supposed condition:

Maybe I'll just wait till the National Enquirer finishes their investigation.

I agree with you that there is more to the story. How old is the other daughter? Maybe the child is hers.

You might notice the top one uses ADN links.I believe the newspaper is liberal. They seem to be trying to do a hit job on Palin. Also on the bottom the next lie from these skanks might be about younger daughter. This is from Huff.

Maybe CNN should do a little

Maybe CNN should do a little more "investigative" journalism in checking out Obama's relationship with that guy that bombed a government building.  Or how about checking to see if Obama was really born in Kenya and not the U.S.  Oh wait, that would be fair and balanced.  I used to like CNN too...about 17 years ago around the first gulf war.

First Gulf War?

Oh yeah, that was when CNN was the only cable news network endorsed by then President Saddam Hussein.

PALIN/McCain 2008

This will offend the easily-offended, but...

Combined with his selection of Palin, McCain's chances of malignant melanoma are a positive thing for certain voters.

The tax & spend drug war looks racist in the real world.

Hey, I would be willing to

Hey, I would be willing to put my a$$ on the line and admit that I wish somebody like Palin was actually the frontrunner.  The GOOD NEWS is that McCain is proving that people can change and maybe he is becoming more "right".

Oh well

Too late.

Let's see if she talks some sense into him, BEFORE the election

On ANWAR. I'll believe he might be changing then. And I'm probably about as likely to die in the next few years from skin cancer as McCain -- they'll certainly be cutting things off me & freezing things for the rest of my life.

7-year difference

Interesting how the media never mentions Joe Biden's age - 65.

That's only a 7-year difference from John McCain. Thankfully, Joe Biden has never had cancer (and I absolutely do not wish him any harm or illness), but where are the actuarial tables for men 65 and older? The media has posted the details for men aged 72.

Don't tell me that's it's not the same because Biden is the VP pick. It's important because Joe was brought onto the ticket to be Obama's foreign policy mentor and for his political longevity (aka experience).

Palin 4 Prez GREAT!

I would like her to be President. She is an outsider and has good values. Go Palin!

He's never had cancer, but

He's never had cancer, but he has had brain aneurysms -- I'm no doctor, but that sounds at least as serious to me as a bit of skin cancer.

At some point, we're going back to the qualification question

Which is why Mcain has to keep putting it out there that Palin has more  experience and is better qualified than Obama. Over and over again.

Rally behind Newt's question, what has Obama done? Name one thing.

More qualified than Obama

Having been a Mayor and a Governor, Sarah Palin is more qualified to be President than Obama is. He has spent just about his entire term as a US Senator campaigning for President. He is a professional campaigner.

The day that "politician" became a career choice is the day we started losing the Republic. Let's get it back! Alan Keyes '08.

get ready for the long campaign

He is a professional campaigner

When he losses there will be a 4 year long campaign to try again.

MSM practically putting McCain on deathbed

You'd think McCain is already on his deathbed the way the MSM talks about him.  McCain is quite vigilant about a recurrance of melanoma.  He sees a dermatologist quarterly.  Yeah, he might die in office.  On the other hand, he might live another decade or more after his 8 years in office.  His mother's still alive, so he might have a heriditary bent toward a long life.

It's also possible that a President Obama might drop dead in office of natural causes.  Being young isn't an automatic guarantee of a long life.  Would VP Biden be able to clean up the massive messes Obama would leave behind?  Probably not.

Palin appears to be confident, strong, tenacious, and smart.  She might not be prepared to be President at the moment, but it seems to me she is probably quite capable of getting up to speed and smart enough to start working on that now.  And with her experiences to date, she's not exactly starting from zero.

When you put the clowns in charge, don't be surprised when a circus breaks out.

"Palin appears to be

Obama isn't prepared, and between the two, he's the only one running for president.

"At some point, we're going

"At some point, we're going to go back to the qualification question."

Get back to? If you had ever gotten to it in the first place, Obama wouldn't be a candidate for president.

If
something happens to McCain, we'll get stuck with someone with little experience. Unless something happens to Obama, we'll be stuck with someone with even less experience.

So, if McCain wins, we "might" get someone with little experience; if Obama wins, there is no "might"....we WILL be stuck with a person with little experience.

Talk about a ridiculous argument on the media's part.

By the way, maybe if Obama would release his medical records, they could then run banners wondering if we should be concerned about whatever ailment he's trying to conceal.

Bias even in graphics

Over the past couple night I noticed a couple other interesting graphics run by the Communist News Network.  One was talking about how two Republican presidential candidates had carried only two states in the general election (I don't remember exactly who, I think one was in the 1960s and one in the 1920s), I wondered if they had run a similar graphic during the DNC about how Mondale only carried one state when he lost to Reagan in 1984, but I doubt it.
