Three years after the media firestorm over the sad case of Terry Schiavo, a similar battle being fought in the state of Delaware is currently flying under the mainstream media’s radar.

The Wilmington [Del.] News Journal, which is owned by Gannett, reported on Thursday that the parents of 23-year old Lauren Marie Richardson, whose brain was damaged by a heroin overdose in August 2006, are in court battling over whether to remove her feeding tube. Richardson was pregnant at the time of her overdose, and she was kept alive with the feeding tube and a respirator until the birth of her daughter in February 2007. Since then, Richardson has recovered enough that she no longer required the respirator.

Her father, Randy Richardson, has expressed wishes to take care of his brain-damaged daughter. But a Delaware court awarded Lauren Marie’s mother, Edith Towers, guardianship, which, as "The News Journal" noted, "could allow the removal of a feeding tube and end the life of his brain-damaged daughter." Mr. Richardson appealed the court’s ruling, and it could take up to three months for the Delaware court to rule on the appeal.

As of 5:30 pm Eastern time on Friday, the only mainstream media news source that has picked up on the story is "The News Journal," according to a search on Google News. Pro-life nurse Jill Stanek reported on her blog that Fox News’ "Hannity and Colmes" program will feature the program on the night of February 1.

Father's rights

I have so had it with these liberal courts not judging situations in being advocates of the helpless.

Terri would be alive today if the courts would have done what is correct, but no instead a wife beater husband dehydrates a woman to death whose soul like all souls was still functioning as souls do not require a brain. Ronald Reagan in his last moments proved this.

My neighbor now is sitting in a house he was working to purchase all alone. Why? His wife decided to cheat on him while working at a bar and moved out which is exposing the children to the new daddy flavor.
How is mistreating children not taken into consideration by the court? How is a FATHER again like Terri Schiavo's father's rights trumped because some liberal on a bench decides they pick the person who will do the worst damage time and again.

That is not justice and it is pure murder. America needs to take back the courts and if Congress will not impeach these butchers on the bench then the public needs in up and down votes like for Sheriff needs to boot this trash off the bench in votes of confidence.

JUSTICE DEMOCRAT STYLE

Hold on LC just a minute!!!

Wholesale abortion, sodomy, tacit approval of adultery, corruption of children in the care of homosexual couples, and child abuse, if under approved circumstances, wrist slapping for drug dealers and drunk drivers, and a lot of other stuff you might consider very bad IS JUSTICE!

Just ask the blue-staters, Liberals, leftists, Democrats, and the MSM. The main goal of these people, who make up a large proportion of what is left(!) of this nation, is to elect congressmen/women and senators whose main role is to ensure that we are saturated with thoroughly misguided men and women in black robes who dole out such justice as much as possible. Probably the high point of their ethic so far was to place as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee for a generation a man who committed either manslaughter or murder but who was never found to be guilty of either because he used his influence with judges get off without so much as a public hearing. NOW THAT IS JUSTICE DEMOCRAT STYLE!!! (For the sake of youngsters who have been taught leftist versions of American history, the person I am referring to is my mis-representative Teddy Kennedy.)

Impunitas semper ad deteriora invitat.

There goes another theory

I think it was somebody on Newsbusters, though it might have been Zombietime, who postulated that the MSM always roots for the "victim" or underdog.

Clearly this isn't true, or they'd be backing the unborn, the disabled, and the terminally ill, instead of taking a "Kill 'em all and let God sort 'em out" attitude.

demedia=judge,jury,executioner

You left out the crucial part where the demedia takes it upon themselves to designate just who is the "victim" or underdog granny.

I'm confident if this case were to be reported by the demedia (based on their record) it would go something like this -- The "victim" would be the mother that only wants closure.  The father who is willing to make the heroic sacrifice of taking care of his daughter would be made out to be the cruel instigator whose only interest is prolonging the distraught mother's agony by opposing her in court.  The daughter whose actual life is on the line might, just might, get a neutral mention.

Liberal judges want the power of death for caregivers

Since they do not believe in GOD or the soul, they want caregivers to decide when someone's life is "not worth living". Which, in the end always comes down to "I cant's afford or don't want to care for this person anymore", just as in the case of Terry Sciavo.

The woman is this situation this time isn't even as brain damaged at Terry was. She sits up in a wheel chair and can look at who's talking with her eyes and head. She doesn't need anything except a feeding tube.

It's eventually going to get to the point where some evil bastard wants to kill a deaf-mute because they think their life isn't worth living and the deaf-mute can't tell them "NO".

The day that "politician" became a career choice is the day we started losing the Republic. Let's get it back! Alan Keyes '08.
