CNN's Toobin Admits: 'I'm Not Exactly Famous for My Hatred of the Obama Administration'

By Matt Hadro | March 28, 2012 | 19:04

A  A

Did CNN's Jeffrey Toobin just hint at his liberal bias? Toobin told Politico "I'm not exactly famous for my hatred of the Obama administration," and added that "If you're [sic] read my books, you know – I don't have a primetime spot on Fox News."

CNN's senior legal analyst had made headlines for his dire analysis of ObamaCare's chances in the Supreme Court on Tuesday. He was explaining to Politico's Dylan Byers that his criticism of the Obama administration's defense of the bill was probably all the more noteworthy because he himself is not a big critic of Obama.

Toobin had been previously been quite optimistic about ObamaCare's legal status. Only a few days before he predicted the Supreme Court might uphold the law eight-to-one, arguing that legal precedent could convince even conservative judges like Scalia against overturning the individual mandate. He labeled the opposing argument "really weak."

Just after the health care bill was passed in 2010, Toobin dismissed the potential legal challenges from the states saying there was "unlikely to be much merit." He said, specifically of the Florida attorney general's argument against the law, that "it's unlikely to succeed."

The CNN analyst drove headlines when, reporting live from the Supreme Court just after Tuesday's hearing on ObamaCare, he labeled the bill's defense a "trainwreck" for the Obama administration.

Toobin's gloomy analysis continued into Wednesday afternoon as he said the "trainwreck" of a defense "may also be a plane wreck" and added that the demise of the individual mandate seemed "a foregone conclusion."

Obamacare

Submitted by ssquared on Wed, 03/28/2012 - 7:38pm.

No one has suggested what seems obvious to me.

The Liberals, reporters, lawyers and politicians, are so enamored with finally achieving their ultimate goal of controlling the citizens and 15% of the economy, they lost site of the fact that they never considered either the quality of Obamacare or it's legality.

Remember all the underhanded dishonest things Reid, Pelosi and Obama resorted to to garner sufficient votes.

Remember how many politicians either chose not to run again or were defeated as a result of Obamacares's passage.

The unfortunate Solicitar General was handed the responsibility of defending the indefencable and that is not easy.

Basically Obamacare has burned nearly everyone who was complicit in it's passage and Obama is next....in November.

The voters will remember how much money, time and energy has been wasted on this bad bill.

Watch for the 'Broccoli Bashers'

Submitted by ChrisNH on Wed, 03/28/2012 - 7:44pm.

Leftist media hacks will be on their 'Broccoli-Bashing' soapboxes, trying feverishly--and unsuccessfully--to suggest that the slippery slope argument is weak. But the proponents of ObamaCare haven't defined the LIMITATIONS once this precedent is set. They know as we do that they can then obligate us to do ANYTHING in the name of 'health care.' And that is something they have no answer for.

Yep, if you can be forced to buy insurance,

Submitted by UpNorth on Wed, 03/28/2012 - 7:51pm.

who's to say the government won't force you to buy a Chrysler, or Chevy, when they fall on hard times. After all, they're actually engaged in interstate commerce, the government owns a part of them, and if they closed it would be a "hardship" on the employees and the government.

To re-elect Obama would be like the Titanic backing up and hitting the iceberg again.

There should be no doubt that

Submitted by MrSnuggles on Wed, 03/28/2012 - 8:50pm.

There should be no doubt that the entire purpose of obamacare is to control every aspect of our daily lives. After all, if the government pays for our existence, they get to define it.

The Big Parent

Submitted by Unsane on Wed, 03/28/2012 - 9:09pm.

It's really basic, and I can't believe people cannot grasp the point you make.

Just like when you begin making money as a teenager and your parents suddenly find out they have no say-so in what you purchase with that money. (When I was 16, my father reminded me that my heavy metal albums were not welcome in his house. But I ended that nonsense with "It's MY money.")

This "health care law" is ALL about turning the government into One Big, Massive Parent.

I just listened to some woman

Submitted by motherbelt on Wed, 03/28/2012 - 7:58pm.

I just listened to some woman law expert on the 6:30 news saying that, since it's so hard to separate what's constitutional or legal and what's not, they just might let the whole thing STAND! Must be a liberal....broadcasting her wishes as fact.....

I have to admit though, I'm going to have nightmares tonight about learning they upheld the whole thing, and all this was just a giant head-fake!

No kidding, Rad....if I didn't hear it myself I wouldn't have believed it! I'm trying to remember which network it was and her name....she wasn't familiar to me, but i think she was with Brian Williams.

First Pelosi claims the Declaration of Independence authorizes it under the pursuit of happiness "clause" as John Conyers would call it, and today Verilli declares it's guaranteed under the Consitutison's "blessings of liberty" clause.

Expanding health coverage through the private insurance market or Medicaid, as the Obama law envisions, will extend "the blessings of liberty" to individuals hobbled by disabilities or families decimated by illness, Mr. Verrilli said.

Patriotism....the last volley of the desperate.

They sure know how to stretch those documents, don't they?

Obamacare will be judged unconstitutional and Obama will ignore the Supreme Court and continue his march to one-man-rule. Obama will have to be physically removed from the White House by the Joint Chiefs of the military.

Things Our "Flexible" President May Do When He Is Re-elected

Submitted by berlet98 on Thu, 03/29/2012 - 11:45am.

Things Our "Flexible" President May Do When He Is Re-elected

Barack Hussein Obama is so cocksure of re-election that he is making plans for 2013-2016.

Obama made that surety obvious when he pulled yet another gaffe in South Korea by not realizing he was speaking with a hot mike as he whispered to the outgoing Russian figurehead President Dmitry Medvedev.

The surreptitious exchange:

Obama: On all these issues, but particularly missile defense, this, this can be solved but it’s important for him to give me space.

Medvedev: Yeah, I understand. I understand your message about space. Space for you…

Obama: (reaching over and putting his hand on Mr. Medvedev’s knee): This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility.

Medvedev: I understand. I will transmit this information to Vladimir.

America’s commander-in-chief essentially promised to give away America’s European missile defense secrets to Russia after he wins in November, that he would share vital, military information with the incoming Russian fraudulent President Vladimir Putin since he will have fooled the American electorate once again.

That treasonous plot with the nation against which we waged a decades-long Cold War and which Mitt Romney called America’s “number one geopolitical foe” has raised suspicions on what else Obama has hidden up his sleeve, as if outright presidential treason were not enough.

Based on the president’s words and actions over the past four years, here are some educated guesses on what Americans can expect by 2016 or sooner should he win four more years to perpetrate more treason, wreak havoc with our economy, undermine our international standing, and convert the country into a Third World nation:

. Israel will be abandoned despite Obama’s pledges to the contrary, Venezuela will become a trusted ally, and the 50 year old sanctions against Cuba will be lifted. (Obama and his administration have frequently demonstrated an antipathy to Israel and an affinity for all things Islamic, have indicated they want Hugo Chavez to be a buddy, and have a special affection for Communism.)

. The United Nations will be recognized as the preeminent authority to dictate America’s foreign and domestic policy. (Obama is a professed “One-Worlder” who sees the U.N. as the one organization capable of insuring peace and tranquility throughout the planet.)

. Attorney General Eric Holder’s racist and corrupt DoJ . . .
