CNN Demeans Republicans as Drag Queens

By Matt Hadro | February 07, 2012 | 12:28

A  A

Dismissing Missouri's GOP Primary as nothing more than a "beauty contest," CNN contributor John Avlon used an image of Republican candidates in ball gowns and tiaras to make his point. The segment aired on Monday's OutFront around 7:15 p.m.

"I just want to give people time to soak in that beautiful graphic," Avlon mused as the picture of Republicans as beauty queens appeared in the background of the set. One can only wonder if CNN would have done the same to then-candidate Barack Obama in 2008. [Video below the break. Click here for audio.]

"There are no delegates being awarded and in fact it's been called a beauty contest, and there's reason for that," Avlon said of Tuesday's primary.

OutFront host Erin Burnett was a bit taken aback by the image, and quipped that Newt Gingrich should be thankful that he is not on the ballot in Missouri because his face was crossed out in the picture. "He might have lucked out, John," she told Avlon.

The panel guests were ready with their one-liners. "I was averting my eyes," said National Review's Ramesh Ponnuru amidst laughter.

And all this time I thought it was intolerant Republicans and narrow-minded conservatives that were 'homophobic'.

I must confess, Killa.

I am a homo sapien, despite arguments to the contrary.

BTW, how's the weather in "Asia" lately.  I'm about to wash away over here!

And Barack is way "prettier" than Hillary despite the fact that he is skinnier than one of her legs.  If they were in a beauty contest, nobody would win.

The weather in Asia, as of

Submitted by killa37 on Tue, 02/07/2012 - 1:30pm.

The weather in Asia, as of 7:30 AM, is pretty nice, although we've had west/northwest winds since Saturday, and that's not good for the surf. It rained on Super Bowl Sunday, but we needed some, although it made my jobsite a little soggy, and we couldn't push any dirt around yesterday, but we probably will today, after the morning dew dries up.

Jeez.......what a picture - Moooooooooooochelles XXXXL caboose, and Nurse Ratchet's cankles!!!! And have you noticed that the Nurse seems to be morphing into Madeline NatsoBright??? All she needs to do is start wearing mini-skirts.

Was it something I said??? Profuse and sincere apologies!!! But I DO remember seeing Ms. NatsoBright sitting there, front row and center, wearing a mini-skirt - and it was NOT a 'pretty' sight!!! Of course...........I can understand how that mental image could be juxtaposed (do you think Barry can pronounce that word??) with the likes of the cankles and the caboose, too!!!!

Submitted by killa37 on Tue, 02/07/2012 - 12:59pm.

Jeez c5, the only way that statement could have any meaning to it is by the new, liberal, re-definition of 'pretty'............cause the standard definition sure as hell ain't gonna cut it!!!!

Are you claiming that Hillary is prettier than Obama?

Cause I fail to see what other criteria could possibly have applied?

No.........what I'm sayin'

Submitted by killa37 on Tue, 02/07/2012 - 1:24pm.

No.........what I'm sayin' (Obamaspeak) is that I can't feature 'pretty', Curious George, and Nurse Ratchett all used in the same sentence...........unless it's an adjective, followed by 'disgusting', 'pathetic', 'gross', 'unsightly', 'scary', or any number of other appropriate words that could be used to describe either one of these charlatans - because they are actually two peas in a pod.
And remember - Boy Barry told us to 'eat our peas'!!!

Why do they hold a "primary?"

Submitted by CobraMan on Tue, 02/07/2012 - 1:18pm.

Why do they hold a nationally televised "primary" where no delegates are pledged? As Missouri uses a Caucus in which to "pledge" delegates, one which hasn't been held yet (it will be held on March 17th.) , this really is nothing more than a Beauty Contest. In this instance, CNN got it right.

They can call it what they want.

Submitted by DumbCanuck on Tue, 02/07/2012 - 2:04pm.

What irks me is the banality of the way the constantly redicule repubs specifically, and conservatives in general.

It's "Shoot the messenger" style of dismissiveness. You'd never see CNN treat Democratic candidates in this manner.

The line between opinion and news is very blurry at CNN.
