CNN Scolds Cain for 'Melee' With Press, Airs Footage All Afternoon

By Matt Hadro | November 02, 2011 | 18:35

A  A

When Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain briefly raised his voice at reporters on Wednesday and his staff moved them aside, CNN reported the incident hour after hour in the afternoon as another addition to the candidate's negative coverage.

CNN condemned the ordeal as "nasty," and a "melee," that Cain got "very testy" and "lashed out at reporters." Readers can view the video below to determine if the confrontation was indeed a "melee." [Video below the break. Click here for audio.]

On Wednesday morning Cain was pressed about his allegations of sexual harassment after refusing to answer questions on the matter. He yelled "Excuse me!" to reporters and his staff members the way for him through the press to his next obligation, which some reporters described it as a scuffle.

"And Cain basically lost his cool," reported correspondent Jim Acosta, who labeled the scene as "nasty" multiple times. "That's basically the only way to describe it. He [Cain] lashed out at reporters who were trying to ask him questions about this matter.

Anchor Brooke Baldwin went so far as to call it a "melee," and indignantly added that Cain was "scolding some reporters there."

CNN reported the story every hour from 11 :35 a.m. through the 4 p.m. hour. Acosta touted that "if you haven't seen this on CNN today, you haven't been watching your CNN, because we've been playing this for you throughout the day since this happened earlier this morning."

"He [Cain] sings at a lot of his events. There was obviously no singing at this event," Acosta soberly described the confrontation.

Would someone please sent a "tweet" to CNN for me since cajun does not use twitter?

CNN prime time should call in Simon Cowell to "judge" and critique Herman Cain next time he sings at an event.

Major news story only worthy  of CNN

Let them keep whining about

Submitted by ant on Wed, 11/02/2011 - 7:03pm.

Let them keep whining about it, it might just gain him more fans. I knew people that loved it when Donald Rumsfeld got short with stupid journalists ( I know, I repeat myself) and the media has sunk lower in the People's eyes since those days. The media don't wanna believe it, but many, many people have contempt for them. They are sorta like Kim Kardashian, she's talked about and shown very often, but nobody really gives a good damn and would never miss her.

Giuiliani and Cheney are still the masters...

Submitted by krendler on Wed, 11/02/2011 - 7:34pm.

...they never raise their voices. They're just experts at making these lefties in the media look like complete idiots.

Still, Cain is earning my respect, day by day. Wish more conservatives would treat these phonies like the democratic operatives they are rather than like "journalists."
It couldn't be simpler: These guys are on the other team.

Oh, please!

Submitted by motherbelt on Wed, 11/02/2011 - 7:34pm.

If this were Obama, or any other Democrat for that matter, they would be crowing about how he let them know he wouldn't be pushed around, and how assertively he "handled" them.

Exactly

That is EXACTLY what would happen, and in fact HAS happened.

"The only way to describe it" ahahaha

Submitted by Marcus Porcius on Wed, 11/02/2011 - 7:55pm.

The only way to describe it? I would describe it as

"Cain tells reporters he's not answering questions at this event, reporters keep yelling questions. Cain then slightly raises his voice (very slightly) so he can move through the crowd of reporters."

Hmmm.

I guess it wasn't the ONLY way to describe it after all....

And apparently Joe Biden

And apparently Joe Biden sticking his finger in Jason Mattera's face and saying "Don't screw around with me" isn't getting "testy."

A good red whine for all of the cheesy complaints...

Submitted by drsamherman on Wed, 11/02/2011 - 8:27pm.

...by the media. They are doing their best to skewer Cain alive and they expect him to just let it happen? Liberals, and particularly the fungus known as Journolists, are the biggest wusses around. WAAAAH...he won't stay quiet so we can belittle him....WAAAAH.....he's fighting back.....WAAAAH......

If any of my children had ever acted this way, they would have received a good smack on the butt.

Can't stop laughing at these reporters..

Submitted by greggy on Wed, 11/02/2011 - 8:47pm.

"I guess it's getting a little hot in the kitchen". (Translation: If he can't stand the heat, he should get out of the kitchen (the race).

"This was a nasty scene"..seriously? Who was cussed out? Who was punched? Who was thrown to the ground? Who was threatened with bodily harm? All he did was raise his voice one time and aggressively say "Excuse me"..big damn deal.
Is aggressively stating "Excuse me" really "losing your cool"?
Is that really an example of "lashing out"?

Was that a melee?! LSHIC!! (Laughing so hard I'm crying!) She actually said "melee", with a straight face!

These reporters don't get out much, do they?

"Tonight, our lead story - Herman Cain goes all gangsta on the virtuous press!"
(Full disclosure: same "virtuous press" that almost uniformly went silent when Juanita Broderick fully credibly accused Bill Clinton of having literally RAPED her)

I guess they missed that

Submitted by ant on Wed, 11/02/2011 - 9:25pm.

I guess they missed that since voted out Congressman that choked a student reporter asking tough questions (Funny, he asked the same question that Biden did, "Who are you? Who are you with?"). The Dems don't like journalists being 'unreasonable'. Then there was the other clown that fumed he, '.didn't give a damn about the Constitution!!'. Pete Stark that asked one citizen who he 'killed today' and told another he wouldn't 'piss on his leg'. And let's not forget Pelosi's condescending "Are you serious?". Yep, guess they missed those melees. Sorta like they missed the violence and rape at occupeeWS but caught the never-seen TeaParty racist spit-on-a-Congresscritter horror.

Then again

Submitted by BMorgan53 on Wed, 11/02/2011 - 10:08pm.

the press could be pursuing real stories like "Fast and Furious" and Solyndra, but that might mean that they have to say something bad about Obama.

Besides, they either couldn't find or take the time to find out about Rev. Wright or hanging with the Ayers.

I remember

Submitted by cocodrie on Wed, 11/02/2011 - 9:28pm.

I remember quite well a certain idiot who screamed in the face of a reporter while jabbing his finger on the reporters chest "Don't screw around with me". I won't mention his name but his initials are Plugs Bite-me Biden.

What are they whining about?

Submitted by BMorgan53 on Wed, 11/02/2011 - 9:59pm.

Mr. Cain stated his position clearly, they persisted, and he did raise his voice, but so what, he could have told them to STFU!

I just love it when a conservative gives as good as he gets. Screw the press.

That was raising his voice?

Submitted by loxmyth on Wed, 11/02/2011 - 11:56pm.

He said, very calmly "Excuse me." They didn't stop. So, he said it louder. Sounded to me like he felt they didn't hear him the first time, over their own voices, so he raised his voice so they could hear him. That doesn't qualify as raising his voice in my book.
