CNN Ignores Poll Results Showing Strong Support for 'Cut, Cap, and Balance'
CNN touted results from its newly-released poll Thursday showing Americans favor a balance of spending cuts and tax increases in the debt ceiling debate, as well as raising the debt ceiling. What the network completely failed to report -- although NewsBusters reported it -- was that Americans also favored two conservative positions – passage of a balanced budget amendment, along with spending cuts and future spending caps.
CNN's deputy political director Paul Steinhauser emphasized that the poll results favored Democrats over Republicans. He insisted that "the headline here is Americans want compromise," and pointed out that 64 percent of respondents favored including both spending cuts and tax increases, "kind of like what the president is suggesting, what the Gang of Six is suggesting."
Then he reported that President Obama and the Democrats will receive less blame than congressional Republicans if no deal is reached by the deadline, August 2.
During its news coverage from the end of the 1 p.m. EDT hour into the 6 p.m. EDT hour, CNN mentioned at least three times that 62 percent of those polled favored raising the debt ceiling with or without debt reduction. At least twice, the network reported that 64 percent of those polled wanted a plan with both spending cuts and tax increases.
And CNN made sure to report that if no deal is made before the deadline, August 2, only 30 percent would blame President Obama while 51 percent would blame Republicans. They also mentioned the poll result showing that only 33 percent of respondents see the Republicans as acting responsibly in the debt ceiling debate, compared with 51 percent for Obama.
Adhering to the standard Democratic talking points, Time managing editor Rick Stengel told CNN's Wolf Blitzer during the 6 p.m. EDT hour of The Situation Room that if tax rates go up in 2013, it's "not a tax hike," demanding that "this is something that Republicans have to get used to."
Stengel was reacting to a clip of Paul Ryan saying that if the Bush tax cuts are permitted to lapse in 2013, that's a "massive tax increase." Stengel ridiculed that as "Washington-speak."

No Matter how CNN and the other MSM present their one sided Leftist views, no one is watching.
What really matters is that FOX presents a balanced view.
Man, they are even ignoring

Man, they are even ignoring their own poll? I could believe it if they ignored a Rasmussen or some other poll that showed something they disagreed with, but their own poll? What a joke.

Show a turn around in public opinion are usually push-polls taken from a bias sample using questions that lead respondents to choose the desired answer. The purpose is not to sample public opinion but to try to influence it.
I loathe that word.

Compromise. Every time I hear it I know I am about to get screwed.
Here's the poll sample that should be used-

Since 90% of all federal taxes are paid by about 10% of the population, the only people that should legitimately be polled in a question regarding the federal debt are those 10% of Americans that actually pay taxes. Since they are the ones that have the financial liability of paying off that debt.
If someone has little or no tax liability, why would they care how much debt the federal government racks up? If the question of the federal debt was posed to just the 10% of Americans that actually pay taxes, I'd bet that CCB would receive 99% positive support.

You might have a right to, but you have no business voting on how to spend other people's money if you do not pay federal income tax. Do the decent thing and just don't go to the polls.

Bachmann already made it clear that she was voting no on CCB solely due to the fact that CCB allowed an increase in the debt ceiling. She supported the rest of the bill, exclusive of the increase in the debt ceiling.

Interesting............ I questioned earlier whether CNN would use their poll when this discussing this topic. Can't say that I'm not surprised they would ignore it. Fools.
CNN would've ignored a video

CNN would've ignored a video of OJ cutting the heads off two victims and declare it something else.
I read now or feel their insanity is actually at a breaking point.. they will break in a downward motion , essentially destroying themselves.
The American people don't

The American people don't want compromise, they want to string up every last one of them, including the "media". We have the government in bed with the media, Democrats in bed with the media and Republicans trying to get in bed with the media. Add in the liars in the media and we get collusion & corruption. The only thing missing is the churches to have complete suppression of the people.
a tax hike

Raising taxe rates in 2013 is not a tax hike? Is that the same as a decrease in the increased spending really a decrease? The way Washington works I have $1000. I want $1200. I only get $1100. That is considered a decrease by political standards. Nuts you say. So do I but it is the way things are done in Congress. Once people understand this it makes it much easier to understand why we are in the mess with the debt that we are.
Facts don't matter to CNN

Facts don't matter to CNN. CNN is agenda driven, driven by committed Communists to undermine America.
You should see how much worse they are on CNN International where their viewers are outside the United States and where thy might not understand what CNN is all about. They constantly undermine America on that channel. They are full-time traitors to America and everything they do is toward that goal. They should be put out of existence. They serve no useful purpose. Same for MSNBC.
