Major Nets' Evening Newscasts All Ignore Poll Showing Lowest Obama Approval Numbers to Date

By Matt Hadro | March 31, 2011 | 18:30

A  A

The latest presidential approval poll shows Barack Obama's ratings at his lowest point of his tenure: 42 percent. But the three major broadcast networks took no notice whatsoever on their Wednesday evening newscasts.

Neither CBS, NBC, nor ABC reported the Quinnipiac poll results on their respective evening news broadcasts. The results, released Wednesday, recorded 42 percent of respondents approving of the job President Obama is doing, and 48 percent disapproving.

Multiple polls show higher approval ratings for President Obama, including an AP poll placing him at 53 percent approval and a Gallup poll at 49 percent. But contrast this with 2006 when all three networks touted a weighted CBS poll reporting very low approval ratings for President Bush.

In the past, one of the networks also went out of its way to report a Quinnipiac poll that cast Obama in a positive light. During the 2008 Presidential campaign, ABC's "Good Morning America" ignored the network's own poll to focus on a Quinnipiac poll showing favorable numbers for candidate Obama.

I said it in another post today here. And I'll say it again.
The JournOList media can polish this turd over and over but the fact is that virtually everyone in this country is or knows someone who is broke, unemployed, or on the battlefield.

They ( the LSM ) know the poll numbers quite well. But, since they ( the polls ) don't represent their beloved Chairman Barry, and they know they'll never get another cushy interview if they ask the wrong questions. So, they kowtow to Chairman Barry, offer to kiss his feet, and sing hosannahs to him. No matter how much time you spend with a can of Kiwi and a spit rag, a polished turd might be real shiny, but it's still a turd.

As with any poll, I'd like to

Submitted by bkeyser on Thu, 03/31/2011 - 6:48pm.

As with any poll, I'd like to see the internals before deciding on merit. I've never found Q-polls to be overly outrageous, but you never know. If this 42% is registered voters (which I suspect it is -likely voters probably aren't in play yet) and the Dem advantage is 8 or better -as most polls are these days- then it could mean something. But if they switched up the makeup to something more realistic like 30-30-40 (D-R-I) then very few in the media will give it any credence. They still think Dems outweigh Conservatives by 12 points.

Polls are for strippers.

At least that's what I read yesterday. Maybe we'll see a little more than those exquisitely chiseled pectorials with footlights glinting off of them.

It's for sure we've stuffed enough money into Barry's G-string.

I think we are going to see much less of Obama at public events

...held in places where the White House has no control over who the attendees are.

Given his sliding poll numbers, there would definitely be some boo birds in the crowd, and the Comrade Chairman getting booed by a large chunk of the proletariat just wouldn't look good on national TV.

Plenty keeping him away

Submitted by jon_torlin on Thu, 03/31/2011 - 9:58pm.

I like how it says "Obama has plenty keeping him away from the ballpark" but seems like it's missing something......hm, how about:

"Obama has plenty of reasons that are keeping him away from the ballpark, most notably his rather short-fallen pitch."  Or......

"Obama has plenty of parties and vacations and golfing rounds that are keeping him away from the ballpark."

I think the editor edited one line that says "He appears to be smarting from criticism he faced for filling out his NCAA brackets on ESPN."  It probably went like this before:

"He appears to be smarting from constant criticism including being roundly booed at the last public uncontrolled event that he went to."  Or.....

"He appears to be smarting from criticism for not going to events that are traditionally attended by past US Presidents.  However, it should be noted that he has taken less seriously those traditions except for playing golf which he does in abundance."

I'm just guessing that's how those were edited. ;-)
