MSNBC Contributor on Obama's Low Approval Rating: 'Polls Are for Strippers'
Would liberal journalist Karen Hunter have whitewashed President Bush's low approval ratings during his time in office? On MSNBC Wednesday, the ever-classy Hunter curtly dismissed President Obama's lowest approval rating to date, growling that "polls are for strippers."
MSNBC anchor Chris Jansing highlighted a new Quinnipiac poll recording Obama's approval rating at 42 percent, an all-time low for the president. She brought on Hunter, who was listed as an MSNBC contributor, along with another more conservative guest to discuss the ratings.
Hunter argued that the populace can be quite fickle in its rating of Obama's accomplishments. "If people do their homework," Hunter noted, they would recognize the magnitude of the president's accomplishments in office, which she believed to have been the most since FDR.
Jansing backed Hunter up.
(Video after the jump.)
"Come on, you know how we are. We're all ADD, and we're 'what have you done for me lately?'" Jansing quipped, criticizing the impatience of the American people.
Hunter praised the President for making principled decisions that are unpopular, such as his policy for intervening in Libya. "I think our policy has been to help...spread democracy throughout the Middle East. And that's happening," Hunter explained.
"It's easy to say something today until you're actually faced with the reality, and I think this President has been very thoughtful in doing things to help us dealing with the reality, not with what we want him to do," Hunter concluded.
Such a staunch defense of Obama can be considered par-for-the-course for Hunter, though. Last summer she bizarrely complained that liberals suffered from "Post Traumatic First African-American President Syndrome."
"We're not giving this man an opportunity to really – we keep hitting him with all of these things, but the reality is he's done more in two years than any other president since 1930," she insisted.
A transcript of the segment, which aired on March 30 at 10:17 a.m. EDT, is as follows:
CHRIS JANSING: President Obama's approval rating is now at an all-time low in a new Quinnipiac poll. Libya, the economy, and the budget deficit apparently have a lot to do with it. His approval rating has dropped to 42 percent. 48 percent disapprove. By a large majority, 58 to 29 percent say the President has not clearly stated the U.S. goals in Libya.
(...)
Let me throw a couple of other numbers out there. 50 percent say the President does not deserve to be re-elected, but maybe this is the most crucial number of all – his approval among independent voters, Karen, just 39 percent. What's your take on that?
KAREN HUNTER, MSNBC contributor: Polls are for strippers, Chris.
CHRIS JANSING: Oh, my. How long did you work on that line?
HUNTER: We should not – I've been thinking about this all morning. Well we should not be governed by what people think in a slice of time, in a moment in time. I mean, we have to take collectively what this President has done over the last two years, and if people do their homework, they'll find out that Barack Obama has done more than any president since FDR to help –
JANSING: Come on, you know how we are. We're all ADD --
HUNTER: We're fair-weather.
JANSING: And we're "what have you done for me lately?"
HUNTER: Exactly! And that's why I think that this has got to be a long-term approach to looking at the President. We can't stick our finger in our mouths and check the wind to see which way he should go. And thank goodness he's not governing based on the polls. He's governing based on what's best for America, and making decisions that are right for us.
JANSING: Is she right about that, Mark?
(...)
JANSING: An overwhelming 74 percent of this poll say they're concerned the U.S. will get embroiled in a long-term military conflict in Libya. And there is concern that if the President decides to arm the rebels, what it will do, Karen, is to draw U.S. involvement. So, does this say "Step back"?
HUNTER: Again, I think our policy has been to help spread democracy throughout – and I think we forget that – spread democracy throughout the Middle East. And that's happening. And, you know, the President took the right steps. He involved the U.N. He has a nice coalition. We're not going "cowboy" in there, you know, willy-nilly, trying to, you know –
JANSING: But he also said that this was going to be limited. And I guess it depends on what your – he said days, not weeks.
HUNTER: Right, and – and hopefully he will hold to that. But again, you don't know a situation until you get into it. And it's easy to say something today until you're actually faced with the reality, and I think this President has been very thoughtful in doing things to help us dealing with the reality, not with what we want him to do.

If I have to hear (or read about) one more Obamabot complaining that the people of this country just don't undertand and appreciate the wonders of the wannabe-messiah and all he has done for us, I am going to hurl.

Which three, Tomorama?
Here, the host stated fully and emphatically the embarrassing latest approval numbers for Obama. There is a short excerpt from an Obama interview. The lib Obama supporter presents her take. The conservative from the Heritage think tank gives his views. There is a clip of Michelle Bachmann stating her customary anti-Obama opinion.
Where is the glaring bias?
And, please, I really do want to know which posts you consider pathetic, mailed in, no actual thought or argument, etc.
This one of yours is certainly no gem.

The last three that I said Hi to you in, don't have time to dig, but come on Jer, the gushing and slobbering here was plain silly.
Polls only meant something when Boooooosh was down (and they were low because WE ALL were pissed), the left as usual swats the polls away and instead demeans us for not being smart enough INSTEAD of saying OH BLEEP, Chicago we got a problem.
The host was as bad as the "genius pole dancer here" IMHO.

Bush? Barrack? What's the difference?
Submitted by Stevenbiot on Wed, 03/30/2011 - 6:16pm.
Bush invaded Iraq to spread democracy and he was labeled a tyrant and occupier. Barrack does the same thing, but gets permission from the UN, who sat by and watched Rwandans get slaughtered, and he gets labeled a Saint. How on Earth are these broadcasters and their guests taken seriously and kept on the air? I wonder if it is the same reason that people watch Jon Stewart? It's not because anyone would dare claim to be getting an education; it is because we all need a good laugh every once in a while.
Steven, Bush invaded Iraq
Submitted by MikeB on Thu, 03/31/2011 - 5:05pm.
Steven, Bush invaded Iraq after Saddam Hussein Obama violated every one of the ceasefire conditions that ended Desert Storm, after Saddam Hussein Obama violated many (12?) UN resolutions, and after he got nearly unanimous permission from Congress. Bush also sufficiently demonstrated a National Interest in getting rid of Saddam Hussein Obama according to the information available to him at the time. And, after jumping through all the hoops, the lies that "Bush Lied" and "there were no WMDs" and "Bush did it only to enrich his Big Oil buddies" came fast and furious and are repeated to this day.
Libya, on the other hand did not violate any ceasefire conditions, Kadaffy apparently rid himself of his WMDs and ceased his research into nuclear weapons, he pulled in his horns after Ronaldus Magnus gave him a F-111 enema in 1986 that killed his little girl (which was fair enough, after all the children Kadaffy killed with his state sponsorship of terrorism ((although, he did order the bombing of Pan Am flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland in 1988), Libya had not invaded any of its neighbors as Iraq did.
And, finally, Barak did not go to Congress and lay out his reasons for military action against Kadaffy, which is in complete violation of the War Powers Resolution, since, instead of just giving Libya a Tomahawk enema, he sent American Armed Forces personnel into Libyan airspace.
There is a world of difference between Bush and Ear Leader in this matter that is obvious to any but an Obamabot.

Well, Dave, this might cheer you up: according to today's Rasmussen Daily Presidential Tracking Poll, 24% of the voters strongly approve of Ear Leader, but 42% strongly disapprove. And, "Overall, 44% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the president's performance. Fifty-five percent (55%) disapprove." So, of those who disapprove, the majority strongly disapprove. This does not bode well for the Kinetic Kenyan.

Of course when Bush had low poll numbers it was an indication that the American people have spoken that he was a terrible president. But when THEIR guy has low numbers We're all a bunch of ADD stricken idiots.
So to some up: Republican president going to congress for approval after a year &a half = "illegal rush to war" cowboy diplomacy.
Democrat president attacking a foreign nation in "kinetic military action" without prior notification of congress = "justified humanitarian aide"

Are African Americans Better Off Today With BO as Their Pres?

I am not a racist -- but, it is a given on these Lib networks when they have a panel of African Americans giving their take on Obama. They will stick with him no matter what. However, It begs the question? Are African Americans in a better place in this country since he took office? These are the issues they should be discussing instead of defending him when challenged.

A comment above asked if African Americas are better off since O took office.
As a consertive public school teacher ( yes such do exist!), I dirisively said that at noon 20 Jan 2009 that all of our black students would suddenly take their education seriously, have respect for school authority (reguardless of race), wear their pants around their waist (boys), stop showing clevage to the navel (girls), speak proper English and not be the majority of the discipline problems each day (allowing the hispanics to take that role).
While my statment was derisive, in my heart of hearts I hoped it might be true (I have skin in the game as I have a black foster son living with me to attend college - after graduating from high school, doing a tour in the military and living on his on for a while).
In the election I voted for a black man (Alan Keys - I'm CA the repub ticket had no chance and Keys is a man of values and God). But when O was elected I had hopes my black students would see there was a chance of great achivement for them in America.
But the real results were - I was still the hated slave holder, the white mo-fo, that what I had to teach was meaningless, that I owed them respect ant they owed me none, that if I did not tolerated and accept their getto ways I was the racist and I was the problem.
It grieves me that the damage that they will blame on me and the system (occupied mostly by liberals that buy in to their victimhood) is primarily self inflicted.

The apologists live in an echo chamber with each other. Meanwhile when I go to the store the inflation looks like the 9% rate that one finds on Shadow Government Statistics (calculated using the methodology used since 1990, www.shadowstats.com) rather than the 2% the administration claims using a new revised methodology that ignores food, fuel and real costs. When I talk with my friends the unemployment looks more like the 18% the Gallup poll detects or the 20% using constant calculation methods than the 9% the administration used calculated with "revised methods" that ignore people with prolonged unemployment.
