Wasserman Schultz: Women Politicians 'Build Consensus, Put Aside Petty Differences'

By Mark Finkelstein | November 13, 2012 | 09:57

A  A

Should Debbie Wasserman Schultz lose her DNC job, there's always a stand-up gig waiting at the Laff Shack . . .

On Morning Joe today, DSW managed to maintain a straight face while claiming that if women ruled Washington, they'd be able to fix the fiscal cliff because they "build consensus" and "put aside petty differences."  The litany of Wasserman Schultz's hyper-partisanship is long, exemplified by her allegation back in March that by adopting voter ID laws, Republicans want to "literally drag us all the way back to Jim Crow laws." Oh, then claiming not to have said it.  View the chuckle-worthy clip from today's Morning Joe after the jump.

Wasserman Schultz uttered her whopper in the course of agreeing with Mika Brzezinski's claim that "if it were just women in Washington," they would quickly solve the fiscal cliff. Watch DSW turn reality on its head.

MIKA BRZEZINSKI: Can we talk about the rise of women in Washington?

DEBBIE WASSERMAN SCHULTZ: Yes!

BRZEZINSKI: How exciting is this?

WASSERMAN SCHULTZ: Incredible.

BRZEZINSKI: A lot of new names join the table, including Elizabether Warren.

WASSERMAN SCHULTZ: Heidi Heitkamp.

BRZEZINSKI: Heidi Heitkamp. This is exciting times, and I have a question; it's not slanted at all. Really. There's no bias here. And it's not meant to be an insult to men at all. But if it were just women in Washington, how quickly would we solve the fiscal cliff?

WASSERMAN SCHULTZ: You know how often the women in Congress talk about that?

BRZEZINSKI: Seriously.

WASSERMAN SCHULTZ: Seriously.

BRZEZINSKI: Actually, some interesting data on how women sort of work to solve problems, versus men --

WASSERMAN SCHULTZ: Build consensus, put aside petty differences. We don't do a lot of chest beating.

BRZEZINSKI: Chest bumping.
