Eight Times! Chuck Todd Repeatedly Writes Off Rosen Remarks As 'Manufactured Controversy'

By Mark Finkelstein | April 13, 2012 | 10:26

A  A

Rally round the Rosen! On his MSNBC show this morning Chuck Todd used variations on the phrase "manufactured controversy" no fewer than eight times in dismissing the controversy around Rosen's "Ann Romney never worked a day in her life" remarks.

By the end of a subsequent segment, Todd had former Obama and Clinton adviser [and Dee Dee sister] Betsy Myers taking up the "manufactured" meme.  View the video after the jump.

You really don't need a transcript. Just watch Todd doing work the White House will certainly savor.

Good Luck w/THAT, Chuck E.

That tactic is as disingenuous as JJ's "I know three Hilary Rosen's" (ouch!).

The White House isn't turning it's back on Ms. Rosen, they are in high speed reverse to distance themselves from her ill conceived comments. So much for their faux war on women. Seems like they fragged themselves.

The Left always forgets how quickly the game can turn on them whenever one of its denizens speaks his/her mind.

The scab of Rosen's wound was picked open by NOW President O'Neill last night, as the ghosts of the early Feminist Movement -- which vilified housewives and stay-at-home mothers as slaves with unfulfilled lives -- re-emerge from their inner feminists. Even Barbara Walters noted it the day after Rosen uttered it.

Talking Points

Submitted by Fenwick on Fri, 04/13/2012 - 10:37am.

If this "manufactured controversy" phrase was not an Obama administration talking point, I'm sure it soon will be - just like the "end Medicare as we know it" one that we heard repeated about Ryan's budget proposal this past week. I'd love to see Newsbusters pick up a bunch of these little catch phrases put out by Obama's campaign and make a lengthy video of Axelrod, Carney, Wasserman, Biden, Obama and other official spokesmen being parroted word for word, over and over, by various news media "professionals."

Demos: it's not outrage unless it's OUR outrage!!

Submitted by drsamherman on Fri, 04/13/2012 - 10:45am.

Not unexpected. Jay Carney's morning teleconference orders their media lapdogs to keep the asinine meme of the GOP's "war on women" alive after they stabbed stay at home moms in the back and tried to cover it up. Todd is just one more example of the empty, vacant-eyed Obamatron suit who will continue to do as he is told. The "manufactured outrage" comment is particularly funny, considering they have manufactured so much outrage over so many trivialities that not even the boy who cried wolf is a good metaphor for the stupidity of the situation. It's not unlike Bernie Madoff asking for free legal help now that he is a poor prisoner.

Axelrod continues to use Chicago thuggery as he did in Obama's congressional campaign.

Sorry, but this is not manufactured. Obama voters have convinced themselves it's ok to use misogyny and racism for the sake of spreading the "enlightened and tolerant" message of the democratic party *cough,* which gifted women and minorities with record unemployment.

Democrats have come to rely completely on pointing out some discrimination on the Right, as proof that Democrats are "good for" women and minorities. They really have not practiced tolerance and respect in a very, very long time.
