Bashir: Conservatives Cool With Slaves Building White House But Can't Accept Black President Living There
The odious Martin Bashir is at it again. On his MSNBC show today, Bashir suggested that conservatives, racists that they are, were happy to have slaves help build the White House, but can't accept a black president living there.
Bashir's slanderous suggestion came at the conclusion of a segment on President Obama's ill-considered attack on the Supreme Court earlier this week. View the video after the jump.
Bashir's calumny came in response to a similarly wrong-headed suggestion by the loquacious Michael Eric Dyson, who claimed that conservatives want to subjugate Obama and portray him as "the other." Watch Bashir do his dirty work.
MICHAEL ERIC DYSON: There is a kind of resentment of the right wing that this man [Pres. Obama] has lost his moorings because he doesn't know where he belongs, which is underneath them, subordinate to their particular practices. To easily call him a thug and to call him a person who is a bully is also coded to try to make him look like "the other" again, like he's outside the pale of our normal American practices and he has to be treated suspiciously. It's quite ridiculous.
MARTIN BASHIR: You're almost suggesting, Professor Dyson, that he, they're happy to have him involved in using his labor to build the White House, but for him to win an election and live in the White House? That's just not acceptable.
DYSON: You're a great speechwriter and a great politicist of the first order.

Historically, Kenyans, Arabs, and Kenyan-Arabs were slavers of Kenyans. So it is literally possible that Obama's relatives in Kenya not only enslaved their fellow man but also sold those slaves which ultimately ended up in America and helped build the White House.
Why does it seem that MSNBC's host hiring practices look like they keep trying to pick up a turd by its clean end?

MSNBC is the official White House smear machine.
That would be hard to dispute considering the way they vociferously tow the White House talking points and gleefully attack Obama's enemies with gusto.
They seriously think that they are going to bring people to their side by hurling out these charges of racism every single night on their program.
A lot of people who never voted Democrat before gave Obama a chance and put him in the White House and the very next election the race pimps are out there ginning up racial division to stay in power.
You cannot insult so many people on a daily basis and think that will broaden your coalition.
There is a reason MSNBC has such low ratings and it is not their inclusiveness.
They tried this all in 2010 and look what it got them and now they are just getting worse.

A relatively new Republican Party, embraced by Abolitionists, has just nominated Abraham Lincoln as their Presidential candidate.
Lincoln wins the election, and within a year, the Southern slave states governed by the Democratic Party secede.
The Civil War that ensues sees the freedom of the slaves in the Confederate states, followed by the freedom of all slaves in the Republican-amended Constitution.
So, who was "happy to have slaves build the White House?" Republicans -- who weren't even in existence when the White House was built? Conservatives -- are we talking about Whigs, a party that has existed for 1.5 centuries?
Who exactly is Bashir blabbering about? He should use specific names. Name the conservatives who are happy to have had slaves build the White House.
Perhaps Mr. Bashir should brush up on his American history before he demonstrates his bigoted ignornance to American audiences.

Would be interesting to get some stats on percentages of each type of worker. Just for starters, two out of the three types of worker listed above are not slaves.
In any case, one thing is crystal clear, although AA slaves participated in the building of The White House, to say that they were the only ones - as the LSM shrieks everytime the subject comes up - is totally inaccurate.

There's a scene in the "John Adams" miniseries from a few years back where John and Abigail ride up in their little presidential buggy to take up residence in the incomplete White House, and it seems to be portrayed that all the labor seen working around the mansion was slave labor. It is a misrepresentation of history; as you point out, not all the labor was slave labor, and Abigail wasn't even there when President Adams arrived in November, 1800. It's history using a dramatic license--we want to convey something, so we'll rewrite the events to suit our needs. It is history being politicized to fit a narrative, in this case that black slaves alone built the White House and, by extension, that exploited black labor in general built the United States and that whites played little to no part in it except to enjoy the fruits of all that black labor. It horsecrap, but it serves the Liberal purpose of divide and conquer, which is why Conservatives need to fight back and set the record straight.
