Tamron Hall Decries Use Of Military As Pawns . . . . While Standing In Front Of Military Jet

By Mark Finkelstein | February 23, 2012 | 10:44

A  A

In an MSNBC "Lean Forward" promo aired on today's Morning Joe, Tamron Hall says she's been upset and saddened by the use of patriotism and military families as political pawns.

So where did Hall station herself for purposes of the spot?  Why, in front of an A-4 Skyhawk military jet!  As she so often does during her on-air appearances, Hall also spoke of her background as member of a military family.  Speaking of using the military as a pawn, have you ever heard Hall or any of her MSNBC cohorts criticize President Obama for staging shots like the one seen [along with the Lean Forward video] after the jump?

Watch Hall's interesting choice of a locale to rail against the exploitation of the military as props!

TAMRON HALL: It used to upset me, now it makes me sad, to see people use patriotism and our troops as a pawn in their political argument.  Because I know personally, growing up in a military family, the sacrifice that is made on a daily basis.  The troops aren't red and blue. They're not black and white. They're not male and female.  They are Americans! When they put their uniforms on, they are Americans.  And that's a fact.

MSNBC = COLLEGE TELEVISION WITH BETTER FASHION SENSE

Submitted by Sgthulka on Thu, 02/23/2012 - 10:52am.

It's as if they don't realize that the rest of us have the intellectual horse-power to change the channel:

- Does Chris Matthews know how to access a web site?
- Does Rachael Maddow comprehend that she can be fact-checked in real time?
- Does Al Sharpton not know that there are You Tube videos of him spilling his bile?

I picture the average MSNBC full-time viewer as having the intellect of a bald tire.

The movie "Deep Impact" wasn't a disaster film, it was a comedy. This is because that movie portrays MSNBC as a news channel that tries to acurately report facts.

Pure Comedy Gold!

It takes a real lowlife to use our troops as stage props.

If Obama had actually served

Submitted by MightyMouth on Thu, 02/23/2012 - 11:41am.

If Obama had actually served his country, instead of leached off it, he would know better than to say something so stupid.

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend, unless my friend is more evil than my enemy."

Unfortunately, he IS the Commander in Chief...

Submitted by Rover on Thu, 02/23/2012 - 2:05pm.

As much as I don't like it, Obama IS the Commander in Chief, and staging photo ops with military is an advantage the comes with the position. One of those "bully pulpit" things that gives any incumbent an advantage. Unfortunate but unavoidable.

I didn't mind when Bush did it, so I don't complain now that Obama's doing it (although I do realize there's a difference in that Bush served in the ANG, and Obama didn't spend a day in uniform).

On the other issue, IMHO, if this reporter DID come up in a military family (as long as we're not talking about a single, short tour in CONUS and home every night) then she has paid the dues to lecture in front of a Skyhawk that she's saddened by the politicization of the armed forces.

Or am I missing something? Did she call out Republicans specifically?

What are you saying?

Submitted by jon_torlin on Thu, 02/23/2012 - 2:19pm.

I didn't mind when Bush did it

Funny, I don't recall Bush ever calling the troops a phot op.

As for Barry Soetoro being CIC, if you think about it, if he really were some general or some military leader, his actions from day one as such would have landed him in a court martial as he's been woefully derelict in his duty, cares more about the enemy than the troops, even to the point of having a medal for restraint of action, IE soldiers fired on and they don't fire back.

I should include a couple of examples, such as the hostage situation of the Merchant Vessel Captain where the Navy Commander took it on himself to have his snipers kill the pirates so that the MV Captain can escape even though the WH told them to hold fast and observe.  Or that Soetoro was dragged off the golf course kicking and screaming and even delayed 18 hours before "giving the order" to attack bin Laden which was going to happen no matter what(and the photo of them where they were "watching what happened" was staged after) and they chose to take the riskier option of sending troops in as opposed to a bombing.

Were he really wearing the mantle of a military leader, this would make him a very BAD leader and that's not counting his demanding the disarming of the US and downsizing the military.  And there's plenty more where that came from.

In both those actions, the RBFSOB and his people set it up so He could take the glory when it worked out, or a military commander would take the fall if it didn't. That is the act of a craven coward.

They gave the Navy onsite commander such cloudy, fuzzy ROE that they knew he would eventually figure a way to "just do it" and if it failed, his ass would have been charged with disobeying orders. As soon as it was a success, Hussein stepped up to take credit for "his brave decision."

Same with the SEALs going in. Had he authorized bombs, and anything had gone wrong, He was on the hook for a bad decision, but by having men on the ground, if it went to hell, it was obviously their fault. His plan would have been "perfect," but those stupid, incompetent SEALs just didn't execute it well.

He knows what he speaks of when he says "Leading from behind."

I really am beginning to hate the bastard.

Tamron certainly needs to show disdain for those 'Corpse-Men' from all '57 States' like Obama does.

File under "Oblivious to

Submitted by motherbelt on Thu, 02/23/2012 - 11:14am.

File under "Oblivious to irony."

Or, as actor  Ron Silver said (paraphrasing) Hey, those are OUR jets now!

So "using" them for effect doesn't count for us.

Did I miss the part where she criticized all of Mrs. O's meetings with all those military families?

Where did they find that nitwit?

Submitted by drsamherman on Thu, 02/23/2012 - 12:02pm.

Did they scour every journalism school in the country looking for the students most likely to be booted out for not making grades? Or did they get Tamron because she was dating somebody in management? Whatever the source, she is dumber than Ann Curry and S'OB (Soledad) combined, but with the ignorant big mouth of Melissa Harris-Perry to boot.

She is kidding right?

Submitted by kdoliver on Thu, 02/23/2012 - 12:04pm.

I know she is not, or she would not be on BSNBC. So an over-educated daughter of a military man knows what is talking about? I have 3 tours in the War on Terror and I have not ONCE seen a supporter of killing terrorists used as pawn by right. Just the opposite is true. It is more than likely the whiners, weaklings, and cowards that can't cut it in the military are the ones who shill for the left. The left uses them and then disposes of them.

Or they take a valid complaint by an honorable individual about the execution of the war and use it out of context.

So Miss Hall, are you going to leave your comfy perch at BSNBC since your leftist organization uses the military as props and pawns? --Just asking.

Tamron, you dumb bitch.

Submitted by Newsbubba on Thu, 02/23/2012 - 12:26pm.

All politicians use the military for political purposes.  In my 30 years of experience, I found that conservatives used it to help bolster our foreign policy, and keep this country strong, while liberals just use it to get votes, then to hell with the military.

I would just like for civilian politicians to stay the hell out of wars that they have no intention of winning. To get our best and brightest killed and maimed to score a few political points, then walk away in the middle of the fight, or make them fight with one hand tied to their feet is appalling, regardless of the party in power.

What your boy, Obama, is about to do to our force will get a lot of people killed in the future when we can't defend ourselves against aggressors. Don't even pretend that there aren't forces in the world who want us gone. They are all seeing us now as impotent and getting ready to do a sex change operation on ourselves!

All I can judge is actions, and to see the difference between George W. Bush and Barack Hussein Obama toward the military, all you have to do is read the short statements by each man when they captured Saddam and when they killed Osama. Bush used the "i" word twice, once when he said "I congratulate, and once when he said "I thank" the troops. He made 8 references to the troops and other operatives involved. The RBFSOB, on the other hand, used the "I" word 13 times, and made ZERO mention of the troops involved.

I guess Bush was using them as a prop in your estimation, huh?

Tamron, thank God you are easy on the eyes but

Submitted by gmaniac1 on Thu, 02/23/2012 - 2:46pm.

you should have stayed at Fox instead of going to the dummy downed version of cable news media... geez, I have no problem with people expressing their genuine good feelings towards the military. To exclude them from any political discussion would be more of a tragedy. That stated I think that we all know that the liberals leaders and their ilk despise the military, especially with their acts against them during Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. You notice how their activities get shunned by the lamestreamers when we have a liberal loon as a president, interesting.
