Lin-Sanity: Morning Joe Runs 28 Clips of Knicks Player
The MSM loves Jeremy Lin for now. But how long before he gets the Tebow treatment? Check out the video of the opening of today's Morning Joe. In just over two minutes, the show ran clips of Knicks player Jeremy Lin hitting a three-point buzzer beater last night . . . no fewer than 10 times.
But Morning Joe was far from finished. I counted a total of 28 Lin clips during the course of the show. Donnie Deutsch opined that "this is one of the few things where the 1% and the 99% can agree." Mike Barnicle later expressed a similar sentiment. Clearly the Lin story is moving America. But query how long he will remain a uniting figure should the MSM, as in the case of similarly-inspirational Tim Tebow, start mocking his devout Christianity? Video after the jump.
Check out the video of the opening segment. Open question: how long [if it hasn't already happened] before the first MSMer asks Lin his views on virginity before marriage, contraception, etc?

It could have been 10 reruns of Michael Moore, or Rev. Tawana Valentine Sharpyton, or Schlongkowsky, or Janeane "straight-up racist" GAROFALO, or that moronic ex-Representative from Hotlanta.
Jeremy Lin's expressions of his Christian faith will not . . .

. . . be mocked because he is not white.
Non-white pro-athletes express their faith all the time on the fields and courts. For example, Sammy Sosa was noted for his signature salute after each home run, and I never heard anyone mock it.
Tebow's on-field expressions of his faith are mocked because he is white.
I think it's more likely that the MSM will find a way to link Lin's opportunities in the NBA to something Obama allegedly did.
The liberal media mocked

The liberal media mocked Tebow because they were livid and bitter about his pro-life Super Bowl ad. They see him more as a social conservative crusader than a Christian.
Some black sports analysts made him a whipping boy for what they perceived to be past discrimination against running quarterbacks that were black. Kordell Stewart basically admits to it on camera.
The liberal media will tolerate Lin as long as he keeps his mouth shut.
Lin plays for the Knicks. If he blurts out anything the NY media doesn't agree with, the New York media will look to have his head on a pike.
The liberal media really hates white Christians and conservatives but they also hate minorities/non-whites that don't tow their line. In the minds of liberals people need to stick to their niches.
A conservative would say people need to be moral and respectful. A liberal would say people have to remain predictable, fit a mold, stick to their role.
I agree with all your points

They can always turn on Lin, but it will be something more agregious to them than Thanking God in public.
Jeremy Lin is a great American story. The son of Asian immigrants, he attended Harvard mainly because no big basketball university would give him a scholarship. Despite a fine performance at Harvard (in an NCAA conference that is not taken seriously even by sportscasters), he was not drafted by an NBA team -- at 6'3', he's relatively small by NBA standards. After signing as a walk-on, he was cut in December by two different NBA teams. And now, given a chance to shine, he's been the catalyst for New York's recent revival. HIs story is even more inspiring than "Rudy."
But the MSM and the Left will only see it as a great ASIAN-American story, and they're coverage will approach it from that angle, and he'll be expected to fit their image for him. They'll compare him to Tiger Woods (who happens to be half-Asian ethnically), and they'll wonder if Lin's visibility will inspire more Asian-Americans to take up basketball, yadda-yadda-yadda.
And, as you wrote, they'll hammer him if he strays too far from their "narrative" for him.
Where da Rev on dis disrecussion?

Da Reverend Al just sit dare lookin' stoopid cause he pissed wid dis almost white boy gettin' all da props playin' a black man game!
Who da hell let dis pretenda in da NBA anyways, yo?
Is it just me, or does it reveal a certain liberal racist mindset to seem "surprised" that a non-black Harvard basketball player can be very good, and actually play in the NBA?
He'll be fine,,cause,

Hes not an "evil, WHITE conservative Bible-Belt Christian" . Now, if Lin comes out for O'Bozo, they'll welcome him with open arms, like for overrated LeBron!
A Harvard Grad and a Christian too boot.

Lin is perhaps the epitome of an anomaly in sports today. He was not the recipient of a sport scholarship and he didn't waste his time in school - he studied! After graduating from Palo Alto (California) High School, Lin got no scholarship offers and made his way to Harvard where no such scholarship are to be had. Lin earned his degree in economics. Probably not the Austrian School of Economics but he did get to play on Harvard’s mediocre team.
Well Christian faith may not "runneth over" on basketball courts or gridirons, but it is a welcome scene to see men embrace the nonviolence religion that Christianity is supposed to represent. The side benefit is that it perturbs atheists to h***!
If we can mix religion and sports can we mix politics with sports? I am amused that Guys like Mr.Tebow who are pro-life work to get the anti-abortion message on television during Superbowl Sunday. Yet,the irony is that suppossed "pro-life" politicians vote for bad laws to make abortion an easy task for women that would turn away from an abortion if there was somone there to talk to them. Maybe women, some of them grandmothers on their knees holding their rosaries praying to an end to abortion.
Mr. Santorum the current GOP star and Catholic signed a bill that is being used by the Justice Department to arrest and jail women that intervene on behalf of the unborn. The federal law Santorum voted for goes by the liberal title: The Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act.
Congress says they gotta have a law to protect women who are dead set to kill their young from fanaticallly religious women. You know the kind, the ones that appreciate God's love and message about children.
The Dept of Justice can thank congressmen like Catholic Rick Santorum for providing the tools needed to rid sidewalks of praying women!
A United States Attorney for Kansas, remarked that this law can be effectively used by the pro-abortion government to stop the "violence and the need to use every legal means at our disposal to prevent it.” What about the "violence being performed in those abortion clinics by big men and women in white coats on poor tiny babies, there Mr. Kansas attorney? And when is the hypocrisy expose of pro-abortionists like Santorum going to make it to big time TV ads run during Superbowl Sunday and the NBA playoffs?
Why compare Lin and Tebow?
