NBC's Chuck Todd Flips The Bird On Live National TV
Was someone asleep at the switch of Morning Joe's vaunted seven-second delay?
On Morning Joe today, Chuck Todd was seen flipping the bird as the show went to break and he waited to come onto the set. Hat tip reader Ray R. In defense of the NBC political director, he might well have been operating under the assumption that his off-set antics would not be televised. Screengrab and video after the jump.
Will there be repercussions for Todd? Stay tuned.
Todd tweets: "The camera is always on. A lesson some of us never learn. My apologies. Am personally embarrassed. Was a joke with someone on other side."
Fair enough. But by "someone on other side," did Todd mean . . . a Republican? ;-)

This optimizes the liberal feelings of the American public. Unfortunately, for America it symbolizes what this administration has been doing to us for 3+ years.
Someone on other side?

Did he mean it was directed at one of the off-air workers on the set who do all the real work while he reads what the teleprompter scrolls?
Madison and Jefferson and Franklin built a Republic - Roberts killed it!
Well, there's Mark Halperin again!
Submitted by Texndoc on Wed, 12/14/2011 - 9:28am.
Remember when Halperin called Obama a "d*ck" and the punishment was 30 days off the air, and PAT BUCHANAN got fired from the show, per White House orders I'd bet my bottom dollar. Halperin is still there, I see. I don't even watch it anymore without Pat there to laugh in Mika and Tina Brown's faces.
Funny how normalized flipping

Funny how normalized flipping the bird is now - when I was a kid, we were shocked when someone {usually in a rage} did this. Now it's a yawner.

It's not often that MSM "reporters" publicly and openly reveal their true character. Thanks for being honest, Chuck.
Leftist media hacks are an incensed lot

Self-professed to be 'tolerant' and 'compassionate' and 'inclusive,' Libs are none of those things. Read anything by anybody at The New York Times. Or watch TV Lib media hacks like Todd and Gregory...two Leftists in a pod.
This next year will be self-immolation time for these Leftists. They may rescue the White House but will most certainly lose 'control' of Congress. Through it all, these Leftist media hacks will be livid beyond belief...and episodes like these will seem tame. Leftist media hacks have lost the hold they thought they had on 'The Narrative,' and they don't quite like it. OBAMO will enter his second term a lame duck of the best sort. His radicalization of America will have basically ended then.

Integrity is doing the right thing even when nobody is watching you. Why would anyone post a statement "In defense" of poor behavior? Am I to take from this that the level of professionalism somehow magically increases when a camera is on with someone like Todd? Because I'm just not seeing it. If you are so callous and flippant about vulgar gestures in the workplace, what does that say about Todd's integrity in general, on or off camera?
And another point: "A lesson some of us never learn." I see this as a candid admission that he is a fool. Todd has a front row seat to seeing the most historic gaffes made by politicians and reporters alike. Yet his ability to learn from those mistakes, by his own words, is non-existent.

Joking around is not ideological. It's just joking around. And of course we all know how the press is unfair to republicans. But their problem (a lack of objectivity) shouldn't be ours.
I love joking around.

So, when Cheney is overheard saying FU while walking out of the halls of Congress it's a scandal worthy of public recriminations, but when a TV personalty "flips the bird," another form of saying FU, on national TV, no less, it's just "joking around."

the pinkie, ring, and index fingers clasped against the palm with the thumb folded over the index finger, that is a joking around bird.
When the pinkie, ring, and index finger are folded downwards but do not touch the palm, that is the mean and nasty bird flip - and should not be accompanied by a goofy grin.
As a typical metro-sexual liberal male, Todd can't even get that right; he does the folded finger flip with a silly grin pasted on his mug.
Doofus.

A Journalist?
Submitted by milesll on Wed, 12/14/2011 - 1:19pm.
I graduated from a Big Ten journalism school and in the last 10 years I have been embarrassed to admit that I did. Todd is yet another example of why journalism is dead. This is how a "professional broadcast journalist" acts. I know not. This is not the first time he has proved to be a joke and living proof that journalism is indeed dead. How many more times will he be given "another chance".

Todd and Scarborough can have each other
Submitted by StarAZ on Wed, 12/14/2011 - 3:44pm.
Back when I bothered with MSNBC, Todd was some sort of pollster or designed poll graphics or something--and now he supposedly a reporter and WH correspondent? What? I can't even spend a second of thought on it without screaming and never stopping. As for Scarborough--why is he still on the air--just for his unexpected lack of logic--is that what passes for entertainment or something? And don't EVEN on that blond woman.

None of you got it. Sheesh.
He wasn't "flipping the bird," he was giving his colleagues an "up twinkle" (you know, like Anthony Wiener gave that young lady an "up twinkie" photo).
Or, he was trying out for an anchor position on a Russian television news program.
Come on, folks, pay attention. A little cultural awareness, okay?
