Mika: I Don't 'Get' Why Republicans Don't Dig Huntsman
If the liberal media were allowed to select the Republican presidential nominee, there's little doubt who he'd be: come on up, Jon Huntsman!
On today's Morning Joe, Mark Halperin claimed Huntsman "has as good a chance as any of the other candidates to test Mitt Romney" in New Hampshire. Mika Brzezinski took the Huntsman-love a large step farther, flatly proclaiming that Huntsman "has all the goods." Vexed by Huntsman's nearly-invisible primary polling numbers, Mika admitted: "I don't get your party." Video after the jump.

JOE SCARBOROUGH: Jon Huntsman was on Meet The Press yesterday; still struggling but still believing he can make a run for it in New Hampshire. How did he do?
MARK HALPERIN: Very tough on Romney, and again, I think people who, people have to recognize--as we've said all along--there's going to be a Romney alternative: there's a vacuum there, and Huntsman in New Hampshire has as good a chance I think as any of the other candidates to test Mitt Romney.
MIKA BRZEZINSKI: He's got the goods. Of all the candidates, he's got the goods. They have these clowns in the field; Mitt Romney can't close the deal, and Jon Huntsman has all the goods. And, I don't get your party. I just don't get 'em. I don't get 'em.

I'm sure that Mika doesn't understand why Jimmy Carter -- the President for whom her daddy worked -- was such an unpopular President on domestic and foreign policy. How did Carter screw up both? He listened to her daddy.
Huntsman "has the goods." I'm sure he's just what the Democrats ordered -- a GOP candidate so unpopular with registered Republicans that they wouldn't turn out to vote for him.

Asking the wrong question

It's not a matter of what's wrong with the GOP, as Brzezinski poses.
The real question is, "What's wrong with Huntsman?", which has been answered in several posts on this thread.
Brzezinski is just another Beltway navel-gazer, sipping on her Starbucks vanilla soy decaf latte in the comfort of thinking that she understands the world outside New York and Washington.
She reminds me of a story that Bernard Goldberg recounted in his best-seller Bias. He was attending an election night party hosted by a high-roller on New York's Upper West Side in 1972. One of the ladies in attendance was literally shocked when Nixon won re-election over McGovern and uttered, "I don't know anyone who voted for Nixon." Considering that Nixon won 49 of the 50 states, it is indicative of the closed little world the elites inhabit believing the most of American holds their values.
Could they push this guy any harder?

were he not fawned over by the liberal media, which is the irony. If you measure up his policy and record vs Romney and especially vs Romney's policy changes, he'd be to the right of Mitt... But because he's less established, lower name ID, fears as a former Obama appointee and a China diplomat that he's a Manchurian candidate of sorts for either, and because unlike the other people in the race he's not the "anti-Romney", he goes nowhere.

Say you live in the mid west, get up at 5 am and start fixing the kids breakfast, pack their lunches. Get them up and dressed and onto the school bus. Then you drive for an hour to work at a hospital as a clerk. Your job is to fill out medicare forms and applications for dozens of patients, non stop for 12 hours. Listening to sad stories, trying to help the elderly, and trying to figure out how to do your job when the patient speaks no English.
Then drive home for an hour, pick up the kids at the babysitter. Get home at 7pm, do homework, feed them, put them to bed. Then sit at your desk for an hour or so, trying to pay your bills, balance your checkbook, wondering if you will have enough money left to buy groceries at the end of the month. You do all this while doing the laundry, washing dishes, feeding the cat.
You get about 5 hours of sleep, get up and do the same thing again.
This is why you don't get it Mika. It's because a spoiled little rich girl has absolutely nothing in common with the rest of the world.
