Yo, Cenk: If Ryan's 26% Unfavorable Rating 'Disastrous,' What's Pelosi's 63%?

By Mark Finkelstein | June 23, 2011 | 20:58

A  A

And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? -- Matthew 7:4

On a somewhat slow Thursday night, let's have a good chuckle.  On his MSNBC show this evening, Cenk Uygur jumped on a poll showing Paul Ryan with a 26% unfavorability rating to declare that America "can't stand" the Wisconsin congressman and that the 26% unfavorable rating is "disastrous."

Question for Cenk: if a 26% unfavorable rating is that bad, how would you describe Nancy Pelosi's unfavorable rating of . . . 63%?  Just wondrin' . . .

View video after the jump.

Uygur teased the topic, then put it to his "Power Panel", which included Bob Franken--former CNN "correspondent" turned, as we've noted, full-throated liberal pundit .

CENK UYGUR:  Washington loves Paul Ryan, but he's not winnning popularity contests anywhere else.  So why does DC love this guy while the rest of the country can't stand him? . . . Wjy is Paul Ryan so liked in Washington but so disliked in the rest of the country?  A new Bloomberg poll found that Congressman Ryan is the nation's third most-disliked Republican, with 26% of people viewing him unfavorably.  He finishes behind only Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich.  So, Bob, let me start with you.  What's going on here? The polls are disastrous for Ryan.  But in DC, everybody's 'he's so serious and so great.'  It's not just Republicans: Obama, Clinton, etc., they've all given him compliments and comments.  Why the disconnect?

BOB FRANKEN:  Well, first of all, I think that there's a realization out there, meaning outside the Beltway, that what he's trying to do is privatize something that's probably best handled as a government program.

If 26% is bad.......

Submitted by GregE on Thu, 06/23/2011 - 9:24pm.

.........I look forward to Uygur tomorrow night announcing that the nation is ready to jail Obama, with his double-of-Ryan 50% disapproval rate (on Gallup as of now.)

What a moron. Tonight I caught him arguing with Michael Steele, and as Steele tried to say that it was tax cuts combined with spending like crazy that was a problem during Bush, Uygur did the equivalent of a 13 year old overtalking the "spending" part of the phrase.

It was like a 13 year old trying to keep someone from talking by not shutting up...."Aaaaaaaaahhhhh see, see, see, exactly, exactly I'm saying, ahhhhhhhh there it is, yep, ahhhhhhhh, there it is, yeaaaaaaaaaaa yeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!"

Stoop.

Some of the American people's opinion only counts and is considered 'informed' when it's useful, is that it? When Pelosi is considered the most hated woman in America it's because we are all a bunch of 'backwards rubes, racist, Nazi idiots'.

Actually, now that I think about it..........they might be accepted as humorous entertainment value, without commanding any respect.............kind of like our Ear Leader, Boy Bin O'Bama. But I think he isn't even going over too well with those people anymore, once they finally figured out what a phony and an empty suit he is.

The government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

Submitted by Rusty Shackleford on Thu, 06/23/2011 - 11:04pm.

26% is probably along the lines of the number of people who are knowingly trying to screw this country. A 26% unfavorable rating is pretty darn good for a politician that's shaking things up. The only time you'd get a really low single digit or teens number is when you're just some mushy moderate that stands for nothing and no one even knows you exist.

Paul Ryan

Submitted by LarryG on Fri, 06/24/2011 - 1:10am.

he reason Ryans numbers are what they are is attributable to George Soros's outrageously filthy MediaMatters and their hatchetmen. Not only that sh*t hole but all of his other connections spewing their vitriol and excoriation. A real dismal commentary on the intellect and awareness of the American populace. Lie after tawdry lie until people begin to bend to their rotten to the core, communist bullsh*t.

with the general public.

26% is practically 100% in the world of politics. But as we see by the overspending attitudes of the left they never seem to understand how numbers work. So as a review for Cenk let's start with something simple, 1+1=2.

Lies, statistics and polls.....

Submitted by motherbelt on Fri, 06/24/2011 - 8:47am.

What Uygur fails to note is that Ryan's "favorable" rating is just about the same, at 23%, with 51% of responders "unsure."

Here's where Cenk got his info.

But as Ezra Klein explains in the article:

Looking closer, that’s a bit misleading: .........a majority are unsure what they think of Ryan.

Nice of Cenk to not confuse the issue with details.

Smelled a rat

Submitted by ChuckySchmucky on Fri, 06/24/2011 - 9:11am.

Yes, when I first heard of this poll, I instinctively smelled propaganda. Because Ryan is pretty well below the radar and I figured most people probably don't even know who he is. And he's also hardly a firebrand; he's very even tempered, reasonable and non-threatening.

"THIRD MOST DISLIKED REPUBLICAN" screaming headline just didn't make any sense at all.

And, sure enough, it's a completely misleading poll, designed to SHAPE opinion, not measure it. And it's quite clear that (relatively tame) 26% figure is coming from the fascists, communists and government parasites that are destroying the country.

But get used to it. This is what the corrupt leftwing media is going to do for the next year and a half: Play Mediscare, smear conservatives and try to blame Republicans for the left's failed economic policies.

The LAST thng they will do is talk about Obama's miserably failed record.

Alternate reality

Once again Cenk seems to be living in an alternate reality bubble. Gov. Ryan is a favorite among Beltway insiders? Really?? What exactly about him do they supposedly like? Other than the fact that he's not currently a threat to any of their cushy positions.

Why Kachink lies?

Because he doesn't believe any of these words quoted above, or others in the Bible with them.

His word is Taqiyya.  That means if you are a muslime it is just fine to lie like a dog, (or a pig in the mud) if you think it will further your cause.

I personally believe in tequila, which will cause you to wallow in the mud, but that's another story.
