Cenk Uygur: 'Republican Vision Of Jesus--Tell Poor And Needy To Pound Sand'
I'm going to sit back and let our readers run with this one. On his MSNBC show tonight, Cenk Uygur said that "the Republican vision of Jesus" is "to tell the poor and needy to pound sand."
Uygur offered his twisted theological take in commenting on a GOP proposal to trim allocations to a certain welfare program.
View video after the jump.
CENK UYGUR: The House began debating a spending bill today that cuts $833 million from the WIC nutrition program, which provides healthy food to low-income women and their children. Appropriations chair Hal Rogers says, quote, "this legislation reflects hard decisions to cut lower priority programs, reduce spending in programs that can be scaled back, and target funds where they are needed most." So programs for the hungry aren't a high priority. Well at least they're honest about their Republican priorities. Now what was it that Jesus said? Give me your poor and needy, and I'll go tell them to pound sand. That's at least the Republican vision of Jesus.

Jesus wrote "The New Colossus"? Who knew?

Maybe I'm wrong, and I'm sure that Cenk wouldn't invoke Jesus without being certain of his facts, but did Jesus say this? I know that it's in "The New Colossus" which is on the Statue of Liberty.
Thoughts?
P.S. What's a "Cenk"?

When did Jesus request that government feed anyone? I believe that was left up to the people to feed each other. In the America that I grew up in, families took care of their member's needs when they were unable to do so by themselves. Elderly parents were cared for willingly by their adult children. Parents took responsibility for feeding and housing their kids. Those that fell upon hard times where family could not assist were aided by their church. This is waaaaaaaay back when people in the US believed in God, church and the concept of "tithing". Nowadays it seems to be more of a "what do I get from government" rather than "I need to be responsible and accountable for myself and my family". We had pride at one time. We had traditional American Values that were passed down through generations. Progressive liberalism has thumbed their collective noses at the whole notion of American Exceptionalism. And that's a sad state of affairs for us to be in. God, but I sure do miss the 1950s........

I am not expert on the Bible although I have read it from cover to cover.
As I have said over and over the Bible tells us it is the job of:
The family to produce society
The church to provide for society
The government to protect society.
You must remember the left takes from the Bible what they want and the heck with the rest.
Cenk's idea - Print Money and Flush it Down the Toilet?

Did this guy win some kind of lottery or did he buy a spot on this gig? He's a radical moron that along with the dems is in denial about the economy. They don't have any ideas so they demonize those with ideas. Following Obama's lead we might as well print more money and flush it down the toilet. Same result.

Cenk Uygar: YOU go back to your sand box and pound sand. Charity comes from the heart not from the mandates of the state.
http://christiancapitalism.net/was-jesus-a-socialist-2/
Excerpt:
"Jesus’ summary of the parable is that the best neighbor is he who demonstrates mercy instead of merely appearing righteous. Jesus commanded, “Go and do the same.” Social progressives take this as a mandate that the state should be the primary entity to “show mercy” in the form of taxation and social entitlements.
This is a dreadful application of Luke 10. It removes the parable from the entire context of the Bible’s teachings and subverts a command meant for individuals by incorrectly projecting it to governments. In doing so, this creates a form of government that is vastly inferior to free market capitalism."

Liberals attack Christianity every single chance they can. Then, they attempt to use it against Conservatives and Republicans by making up things that are never found in the Bible.
And, helping the poor and those in need does not mean tax Americans to death. You can't steal from Paul to give to Peter, as these Liberals want.

I have yet to meet an Islamist who understands the basic tenets of Christianity. In fact, Islam itself is rooted in Mohamed's complete misunderstanding of Judaism.
For the record, Cenk:
2 Thessalonians 3:10
"For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat."
James 1:27
"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."
No Christian begrudges aid to widows and orphans. Cenk is nothing more than a purveyor of the aforementioned "world pollution". I expect nothing less from MSNBC.

Jesus asks US to feed the poor. When the gov't does it, they would have already stolen funds from someone else to do it. Last time I checked, Jesus wanted us to follow the Commandments and "thou shall not steal" was in there.

I'd sure like this fellow to quote the scripture (in context) where it places the burden on the government to provide aid and support to the needy. He makes a statement as a matter of fact, he should be able to substantiate it. I, for one, can't locate it in scripture.

Maybe Cenk should read this.
Keep Jesus Out of Your Socialism
Mr. Youssef says it eloquently.
He points out several example where Jesus had the perfect opportunity to lecture the government, but didn't.
IMO, this is the money graf:
Both the religious and secular Left in America seem to want government to replace the church in ministering to the poor and needy. One of Barack Obama's first proposals as president was a plan to slash tax deductions for charitable donations by high-income taxpayers. President Obama reasoned that a tax deduction "shouldn't be a determining factor as to whether you're giving that hundred dollars to the homeless shelter." Maybe so—but since private charities do so much good for the poor, why eliminate incentives for charitable giving? Could it be that liberals see private charities as competing with the big government welfare state?

Funny that every study show that conservatives are the most generous people personally with the poor, but that liberals, when they have to pay out of their own pockets are the most likely to tell the poor to pound sand. So, liberals are only generous with OTHER people's money, but stingy with their own. So moral those liberals are.

Submitted by Unsane on Wed, 06/15/2011 - 10:41am.
I'm not a religious person, but for some strange reason, I seem to recall churches of all sects and stripes and their congregations do in fact look after the poor and needy all the time. You know, collection plates, outreach programs, and the like.
I ALSO seem to recall that the United States is the most generous, charitable country on the planet. The Socialist babying Nanny States that Cenk Uygur adores so passionately don't like charity - to their populations, and apparently to Mr. Uygur, taxes represent charity. (Taxes are not the same as charity, of course, but you see my point, I hope.)
