Larry O'Donnell: Most Voters 'Don't Really Know Anything About The Economy'
The MSM and their liberal politician friends revel in proclaiming their admiration for average Americans. But scratch a liberal, and find condescending contempt for the people they pretend to glorify.
Take Larry O'Donnell. On his MSNBC show this evening, discussing President Obama's problems in convincing voters that the economy is on the road to recovery, O'Donnell denigrated most Americans. Declared O'Donnell: the majority of voters "don't really know anything about the economy."
BARACK OBAMA: We are on the path of a recovery but it's got to accelerate. The recovery is going to be uneven and there are going to be times where we are making progress but people are still skittish and nervous, and the markets get skittish and nervous, and so they pull back because they're thinking about the traumas of just two-and-a-half years ago.
O'DONNELL: But a recent poll shows that a majority of voters--a majority of whom don't really know anything about the economy--don't believe that the economy is recovering and blame President Obama for the struggling economy.

As I have posted previously over the years in one form or another, I believe the majority of citizens are uninformed, misinformed, uneducated, apathetic, illiterate, and/or stupid. School test scores and dropout rates bear me out.
So does this video of interviews by John Ziegler of twelve Obama voters of all ages on election day. This is a sample of the type of people who voted for Obama. This is our union and liberal-run education system on display. It's frightening to think that these same uninformed voters may lift Obama over the top in the next presidential election.

Hey Larry..........what do you think the Tea Party is all about? There are millions of members. Are we all ignorant about the economy?? Get some new writers
Well, O'Donnell - they're listening to idiots like you.

Well, no wonder they don't; after all, they mostly get their news about the economy from the MSM and idiots like O'Donnell, himself (not that Krugman helps here).
FTR - does anyone remember any national MSM outlet wondering out loud, discussing amongst themselves, or venturing to ask Bill Clinton about the dot.com [Enron era] bubble crash and the fallout from it that he left to President Bush?

If there's anything the voters understand quite well it' s the economy.
They understand unemployment because they have to have jobs.
They understand the high price of oil because they buy gas for their cars.
They understand balancing budgets and the effects of long-term debt because they have to balance their own books.
The average taxpayer (and I emphasize taxpayer) understands the economy.
Of course we do...

How rude to question anything Mr. O'Donnell says. We peasants must tip our forelock to superior beings like him, Obambi, Velshi, Krugman, Geithner, and my all time favorite economic genius, Poppy Harlow. How her parents must have hated her when she was born - or hatched. These are the people who truly understand economics, be they micro or macro. These are the leaders of our country, along with Weinerman, Harry reid, Barney Fwank, Pelosi, and the Black/Hispanic/Asian/Serbo-Croation caucuses. Not to worry. There is an ace in the hole that can work economic magic..Joe Biden. I feel better now.
A very telling remark...

"Scratch a liberal..." is right. The vast majority of these types truly believe that the American people are, by and large, an unruly, ignorant and stupid horde of sheep that needs to be herded by the brilliant, enlightened liberal shepherds who know what's better for the sheep, than the sheep do.
It is just stunning how nakedly arrogant fools like O'Donnell are...He, I'm sure, is completely oblivious to how this comment comes across and how offensive it is. To him, and those who think like him, it is simply the truth.

Exactly. That's why they sneer at everything that middle-America embraces - WalMart, SUVs, McDonald's, NASCAR, etc. They have the pretense of being superior to middle-America - intellectually, politically, and culturally. Then they have the sheer audacity to profess being for the "common man".

is that types like O'Donnell really don't and probably never will "get it"...They live inside their little liberal elitist bubbles and go through life with their liberal elitist blinders on, and never see this country and its people for what and who we really are. I am sure that these people are certain that they are the brilliant, beautiful people who have all the answers and the rest of us are the dowdy ones who spend our drab lives wandering around in ignorance...What they don't see, and probably never will, is that there are many, many more of "us" than there are of "them". If these types ever did truly realize that, I wonder if they would ever take the time to wonder "why"?
Probably not.

So, radical libs thought that wearing jeans, work boots and denim shirts showed how empathetic they were, huh? They really had no clue, did they? And nothing has changed since then...These types still think like this...They are so shallow and condescending, and they just don't see it.

It does seems that age is the great leveler. At my last high school reunion, it was startling (and gratifying in a schadenfreude kind of way) to see that many of the "beautiful people" in high school had become matronly, balding, and dumpy. The most arrogant, swaggering "stud" on campus had morphed into a balding, paunchy, humble and pleasant guy. One high-end girl who barely spoke to me in school had become somewhat dowdy and very nice. My next reunion is coming up at the end of July. I don't know whether to look forward to it or dread it. I don't care how I come across looking - it wasn't like I had great looks to lose - and I was always considered a "nice guy". Still, I'm kind of proud I just lost forty pounds and pray I can keep it off at least until then. I have some vanity left...:)

what you're saying...And I think you're right about some of these folks. They (finally) grew up, had some life experiences that may well have opened their eyes to how they behaved when they were younger, and hopefully have become better people for it. This is the case with some, but not all people, unfortunately.
As far as being considered the "nice guy" that's just fine...I married a "nice guy". The "nice guys" are the ones that I personally remember best and have the fondest memories of...The memories of the shallow, superficial types have largely faded over the years into unimportance...So, be proud of yourself about your terrific weight loss (good for you!), go to your reunion in July with confidence, and have a great time!

Ask 100 random Americans what
Submitted by Rusty Shackleford on Tue, 06/07/2011 - 11:08pm.
Ask 100 random Americans what an economy is and I bet 99 of them will give you some sort of answer involving money "It's, duh, like when people have money and spend it on junk you know?"
The public is ignorant on economics and that's why it's so easy for the Democrats to trick the public into supporting socialism because it appeals to the greed of the masses with its promises of the free lunch and their jealousy of those with more. It takes logic, not emotion, to see why socialism is such a disaster.
The democrats own the education system in this country so if it was to the democrats' benefit for the public to understand economics, the public would understand economics. The schools don't address economics at all! That alone shows that it's to their party's advantage to keep the masses dumb on economics.

Reminds me of the so called progressive "Catholics in name only", the ones usually imbued with the so called "spirit of Vatican II"
"We now have a very intelligent and very well educated congregation, and therefore those stodgy old men in the Vatican must listen to the Voice of the Faithful and take heed of the Sensum Fidelium on issues of Abortion, contraception Homosexuality and gay marriage, women priests " and whatever other current progressive social fads they approve of.
Contrast with: The relatively minor changes being introduced to the English Mass, to bring it closer the the actual language and meaning used in the Latin of the Roman Missal"
"Oh, our poor Catholic Faithful. Again oppressed by another set of changes. Their confidence so strongly undermined by these constant changes. They will be so confused and they will find it so hard to understand the reasons for these changes. The older ones will never be able to cope.

What the public does
Submitted by Beukeboom on Wed, 06/08/2011 - 11:36am.
What the public does understand:
higher taxes
one cannot spend there way out of debt
there's too much government intruding upon our lives
it costs more to live today with the prices of essential goods and services going up while salaries can't and don't keep up not to mention those who are out of work or underemployed
etc
So Larry, the public does understand economics far better than you give them credit for. It may not be put into terms used in academia but the principles found in both maco- and micro-economics are well understood by most Americans as they relate to their day-to-day lives.
What Larry doesn't understand is the American public since he's up in his ivory tower hanging with the snobbish liberal elites.
