Morning Joe Hearts Huntsman

By Mark Finkelstein | May 23, 2011 | 11:12

A  A

"He's a Morning Joe candidate." That could be the kiss of death among Republican primary voters, but Mark Halperin meant it as a compliment.  Today's Morning Joe panel was unanimous in its praise for Huntsman's performance in New Hampshire over the weekend.

More from Mark Halperin:

"As impressive as any couple I've seen . . . I was pretty blown away by how effective he was . . . more [comfortable in his skin] than Barack Obama and George Bush, and they for me in my career have been the gold standard . . . One of the liberal trackers said 'I really like this guy.  I'd cross over.'"

View video after the jump.

The rest of the panel, from Joe Scarborough to Mika Brzezinski to Mike Barnicle, were also enthusiastic, with Barnicle giving the biggest compliment of all from his perspective, passing along a comment from an elderly New Hampshire voter who said Huntsman reminded him of JFK.

The panel also had praise for Pawlenty's announcement video. But at least for now, Huntsman clearly seems the early favorite in the Morning Joe primary.   Whether actual Republican voters will be similarly moved of course remains to be seen.

Normally, a kiss of death to get all these liberals to say nothing but nice things about a conservative. Hope it doesn't mean he's milquetoast.

The No Labels No Spine Candidate.

Submitted by Texndoc on Mon, 05/23/2011 - 11:21am.

And he's right out of the Obama Administration.
He was quoted over the weekend: there's no "civility". Republicans are "angry". On Obama: "Just because he has a different world view, it doesn't make him a bad man."

This guy is Squish on steroids. I believe he is an Obama plant. I believe after he is tossed aside by "angry Republicans", he will be appearing by Obama's side at the Democratic Convention, where he will be speaking.

We can say the same about, oh I don't know, Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Castro, Pol Pot, Mussolini, Ted Bundy, etc, etc, etc.

I was waiting to see ...

Submitted by Newsbubba on Mon, 05/23/2011 - 11:22am.

... who was going to have an actual on-air "organism!"  Now if Prissy would start humping his leg, and declare that he would "cross over" for this guy, that would seal the deal.  Of course Prissy "crossed over" so long ago, I'm not sure where he would end up.

Let's play their game.  You know who I like?  Nancy Pelosi!  I think that the dembos should dump Bambi and run her ass.  I'd "cross over" for that.  In fact, I might give up "organisms" forever if I had to.

You can't run against Obama and not have a thing to say

Submitted by Texndoc on Mon, 05/23/2011 - 11:27am.

You can't run against Obama and do nothing but praise him and slam your party. This guy is worse than McCain. By far.

Any candidate pushed by the MSM is a candidate that I will not vote for. Remember how they pushed for McCain?

They are doing the same with Huntsman.

Submitted by Free Stinker on Mon, 05/23/2011 - 11:55am.

I heard about this Huntsman guy when John Bachelor mentioned him(as a good canidate) a few weeks ago. Since Bachelor has a a mild case of PDS, I had mixed feelings about Huntsman. Now that morning Joke supports the guy, I have no doubt he's no Conservative.

Not knowing too much about Huntsman

Submitted by Blonde on Mon, 05/23/2011 - 11:57am.

I just did a bit of reading.

Remember Glenn Beck and John Huntsman Sr.? The uber philanthropist with the Cancer Institute? Father of this John Huntsman.

I wonder how much the MJ crew would love John Huntsman if they knew how much Glenn Beck adores his father?

There You Go Again...

Submitted by iveseenitall on Mon, 05/23/2011 - 12:07pm.

Morning Jerk,er, Joe---there you go again. Guys like Joe are the spinless hypocrites who have brought the world nothing but pain and suffering. Of all the disgusting cowards in the world, people like Joe head the list.

P.S. Remember the scene in the Untouchables movie when Sean Connery was looking for a new agent sharpshooter? The first guy stuttered and stammered as he spewed the party line. As they guy walked off, Connery said "there goes the next Commissioner of Police".

Huntsman: He's Toast with your Morning Joe!

Submitted by tomchris on Mon, 05/23/2011 - 12:35pm.

Is there anyone outside the idiotic MSM bubble falling for this game anymore? Hyping some RHINO as the Republican Party's best hope only to reduce the guy to cannon fodder if he becomes the Republican nominee. Sorry guys, no more McCain's or Dole's. Any candidate who makes Joe Scarborough's neck veins pop out is the person I'm voting for.

And Joe, please name ONE conservative who doesn't believe Obama is a good husband and father. If you can't- cut the crap!!

The Dems say, "Oh, that Huntsman! He's such a formidable candidate! Boy, he'd really give Obama a run for his money if he was the Republican candidate. Boy, we sure hope the Republicans aren't smart enough to pick Huntsman!"

In other words, "Please, PLEASE don't throw us in the briar patch, Br'er Fox!"

I heard that since Daniels (a Bush disciple) is out of the race that Rove and other Bush friends are turning to Huntsman. To me this is another sign to avoid Huntsman completely.

Just got around to watching this - they were practically drooling!!! Do they really think the antidote to O is his mirror image? That we want someone who is "pretty" and who's wife is as polished as he? Are we that shallow???
