Margaret Carlson: 'Professor Obama Turned Into General Obama And Ran This Incredible Raid'
Just when the media adulation of Barack Obama might have been showing signs of waning, along comes the killing of Osama Bin Laden to drive it to new sycophantic heights. In the genre, it will be hard to outdo the schoolgirl-crushiness of Margaret Carlson.
On today's Morning Joe, Carlson characterized the operation against Osama Bin Laden as the moment when "Professor Obama turned into General Obama and ran this incredible raid."

Carlson, a Bloomberg News columnist, was reacting to a comment by Joe Scarborough, who had criticized as "nitpicking" a New York Times article that reported OBL was unarmed.

This issue has been literally beaten to death. The principal "sources" are a misreading of Vattel: Law of Nations [circa 1758 if I recall]; a torqued inference from nonbinding dicta in Minor v. Happersett [1878?] and excerpts from a speech on the floor of Congress by John Bingham in reference to the 14th Amendment in 1868 (I think).

legal definitions of 'natural born citizen' conflict with Obama's citizenship status, why in the name of reason would you agree with Jer and his empty assertion this issue is beaten to death? It is dissembling lawyers like Jer who defend Obama's status and obfuscate the legal precedents. In fact there is no binding legal definition of 'natural born citizen', despite the clear intentions of the Founders and the prevailing interpretations of of 1866, 1868 and 1874. Therefore the point is open to question. I agree with Morrison Waite, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, and Senator John Bingham. Jer does not. He seeks to include all citizenship by Jus Soli as natural born citizenship. The absurdity of his argument can be clearly seen that by that standard, the Al Qaeda Cleric, Anwar al-Awlaki, is a 'natural born citizen' of the United States and therefore Constitutionally qualified to be President. I think he is a terrorist and a murderer who is not even a citizen by virtue of having joined an enemy armed force, namely Al Qaeda.
In principle, we know that the Founders included that qualification for the Presidency in order to exclude anyone with conflicted loyalties from gaining the Presidency. In Obama we see exactly such a person in the office. At the very least, Obama considers himself to be a citizen of the world before a citizen of the US. He enjoys the full support of George Soros' Open Society Foundation, which seeks to erase the traditional nation state. I would think anyone with half a brain would see this as a problem.

Also all the mixed stories from the administration about the mission: was it a kill mission or capture/kill mission for example? This just shows Obama regime wasn't running anything. The CIA and military were moving forward anyway. We are already performing strikes in the Waziristan region. Is Obama giving the ok for those before we incinerate 22 people in a yurt with hellfires?

Obama was cornered into a "Go" on this operation. After reading either piece, the picture in the situation room makes more sense. Obama is furious that he was forced to play a card he didn't want to play, after he and Jarrett tried to back out of the operation. Hillary is freaked out about the real consequences of seeing someone get killed instead of just talking about it as an intellectual exercise. Gates, Daley, and the non-uniformed JCS member are seeing what they expected to see. Biden (for once) is awake. And Valerie Jarrett is conspicuously absent from the frame.

I'm glad someone else noticed the look on his face in that picture. I've pointed it out to some people at work and they don't see it as being furious/pissed off, they were saying he was intent. I pointed out that he had the same look that he was giving Ryan during that "Health Care Summit" nonsense.

As I said earlier, if Valerie Jarrett goes, that will be all the confirmation we need to know this story is 100% true. And if Jarrett goes, it's going to get ugly, indeed. Apparently the split with Toes Immanuel was not a nice one, there's bad blood there. Between that and Blago going on trial again, we may be up for a new soap opera....Sopranos: Chicago.
If you go back to that link and read the author's "Civil War in the White House" piece, you'll be shaking your head, as was I when I first read it.
As for that picture, the body language says it all. Those who've been there, done that, know what's coming. Hillary has the OMO! look on her face, and Obama is sucking a lemon.

I did read that, twice because I didn't get it at first.(didn't seem to fit at first for some reason) But like you, I was shaking my head.
I get the feeling that we are heading for probably one of the biggest sh*tstorms to hit the country in a while, because of all this.
As for Panetta, yeah, something's up with that guy and he was even contradicting some of the accounts/stories that we're being told. If I had to believe anyone involved with the WH, it'll be Panetta. Strange, but true. He bears close watching. REAL close watching.

The way I read it is that it was Valarie calling the shots. She is not the President. They followed the order of the President to abort. They did not wait for the President to give the order to go. Obama gave Panetta initial authority to a ground attack, which Panetta did. Obama just did not think it could be done so soon.
Like I said, treason is a stretch that not even Obama could reach. Besides, if it is true, and it is treason, do you think that Obama is going to admit he tried to save Osama's life? Told them NOT to attack? Do you think he would serve out the rest of his term after such an admission? Or would he wind up taking orders from the Speaker? Or resign?

Valerie Jarrett was dragging her feet for idealogical and political reasons, and kept yanking Obama back from any forward progress the rest of the planning group was making. She first did that by changing the take down from bombers to boots on the ground. When that didn't stop any progress, she then attempted to place Panetta in a Gordian knot, by having Obama actually give Panetta the responsibility for the Go order, believing he would shy away from the responsibility AND the blame should something go wrong.
As I've said elsewhere, Panetta stepped up. When the time was right, Panetta gave the Go order (as he was given the authority to do), and subsequently Obama AND Jarrett were not informed until a later time, at which point Jarrett, again exercising her influence on Obama, attempted to have the order rescinded. Daley intervented (if you read the prior stuff by this guy and his source, you'll find this credible) and managed to totally marginalize Jarrett and her influence.
Fortunately for everyone involved (except Jarrett) the mission was a success. As I said above, time will tell, but Jarrett being shoved out will be proof of the pudding, IMO. Finally, I have to agree with everything said on this blog. Squandering Our Victory.

Don, I don't think that anyone said no weapons were found. None are in the photos or videos, but the first thing they would do is locate all the weapons in one spot. Out of reach of anyone alive. Then they would film where Osama was killed and the computer room. You can see on the video that the place had already been searched.
The Paki's came in after the SEAL's were gone. They took care of those left in the compound and removed the remains of the crashed chopper before they let anyone into the compound.

Get serious! In our lifetime the greatest and most daring military rescue was The Raid on Entebbe by the IDF in 1976. And probably the greatest military rescue was the American rescue during World War II of the survivors of the Bataan Death March in 1944. Those raids and the decisions by leaders to execute took real “guts” and they were the stuff that were made into Hollywood movies. While the Seal team showed guts and courage, Obama’s decision did not.
The raid by the Navy Seal Team was not to rescue anyone or even take anyone alive. A predictor drone could have accomplished what these brave men did but Obama wanted a body and proof of Bin Laden’s death. I don’t have a problem with that decision but in the euphoria of Bin Laden’s killing we need to place things in proper perspective.
I’m sorry for not getting on the bandwagon of what a courageous decision Obama made to send in the Navy Seal was, but I think 95% of Americans would have made the same decision without hesitation. The other 5% would account for the radical Muslims as well as nuts like Cindy Sheen, Michael Moore, or those moron “9/11 truthers” like the running back with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
There was an editorial in Newsday today that puts it into proper perspective.

Al-Qaida was already crippled: Its centralized command-and-control had been dismantled and its top leaders had gone deeper and deeper underground, choosing personal safety over operational efficacy. According to U.S. and Western intelligence agencies, fewer than 300 members of al-Qaida survive.”

While killing Bin Laden was symbolic and intelligence retrieved may be significant, the effects are minimal. As the author admits, the efforts of the U.S. and western allies has defanged Al Qaeda and made them ineffective operationally.
The killing of Bin Laden will have the same effect on whatever is left of his organization as would have been the killing of Hitler in the latter days of the broken Nazi war machine. Just symbolic.
What is far more important is what is going on in the Middle East. This Arab Awakening is completely out of American control and understanding. It is happening for the same reason the Iran uprising happened - the sight and symbolism of those purple fingers in Iraq now years ago proved that countries in the Middle East can have freedoms and hold free elections. But because of Obama's feckless leadership that tide may turn toward the Muslim Brotherhood and Iran.
Where was Obama's courage and guts when Iranian protestors were losing their lives on the streets of Tehran in the name of freedom?

Look, first of all, Obama did not physically lead the raid of this compound. But, I'm not surprised that Margaret Carlton is trying to tell the public he did. In her liberal, sick mind, he did. And she wants to have his baby...Sure, he made the decision to go in, and good for him. It was a huge political risk, and it paid off. I feel his mission to get UBL was strictly political, but for all that's worth, at least our brave military got him and he's not on this earth anymore. I'm prouder of our military by a long shot than I am of Obama. Now that UBL is dead, let's see what kind of guts Obama has to help to start to fix this economy. That's got to be priority one now. I am having a hard time affording to come to work because of gas prices. And food prices are through the roof. Let's get back to the business at hand here.

I was EST, which is nothing compared to a SEAL, but it teaches you the reality of close quarters combat and urban search and clear. She has no idea how small she looks using words like "guts" when comparing Obama to the men who planned, trained endlessly then executed the op.
Patton lead from the front, and came under German fire on more than a few occasions,.. Obama simply took sound military advice and issued an execute order on the op.. that he and his team can't handle even the basic task of post operation PR... can anyone imagine the SEAL's response if he showed up at SEAL Team Six and said,.."get me some gear and a weapon, I'll be leading this one boys!"?............... the laughter would have been epic.

There's not a prayers chance in hell that President Obama ran this operation; more likely, it was run by Leon Panetta and Mr. Obama, along with his office mommy Valerie Jarrett, had to be dragged kicking and screaming to the decision table. Background reports are already surfacing that President Obama was his usual cautious self and that Ms. Jarrett wanted no part of this raid and did everything she could to keep the President out of it. The real hero here is Leon Panetta, accompanied by Mrs. Clinton and Bob Gates - those three were the linchpins and they are the one's that deserve credit. As for Mr. Obama, he'll bask in the glow of success, but it was success despite him, not due to him.

Photos do tell a story. Take a look at the photo they posted from the War Room, of President Obama and his team sitting around the table supposedly viewing the live feed. Look at each of their faces and tell me what the photo tells you. Mr. Obama is sitting there, off to the side, with his jacket on like he was just brought in from the golf course (which he actually was); he was late to the table, as he is late to every decision he makes. We haven't heard the real story behind this; it will come out one drip at a time, but it will come out. And the real facts will be alot different then what we are hearing today.

Did Obama give the order for the Navy Seals to KILL OBL and not capture him? Giving the order is planning you know. Statements made by Panetta certainly do indicate their orders were to kill and not capture. So as a liberal looking at Obama who campaigned against war claiming our military presence and actions made the US be perceived as an aggressor nation what do make of this? Isn't the proposition of being anti-war all about NOT KILLING PEOPLE? And yet Obama gives the order to KILL OBL? (I'm perfectly fine with it as a conservative)
Or are you now going to blame the Navy Seals for being gung ho since OBL as the story goes now didn't have a gun? It will be interesting to see IF Obama takes responsibility.
