Video With Cheney Fighting For Breath Leaves Mika Laughing
Are you old enough to remember the polio-era line: "funny as an iron lung"? After all, what kind of person would find funny the notion of someone fighting to breathe?
Answer: Mika Brzezinski.
Today's Morning Joe played a Letterman clip of a faux-promo for an imaginary TV show called "The Dick Cheney Story." As the title song from the Mary Tyler Moore Show plays merrily in the background, we're treated to images of Cheney wielding a gun, in a wheelchair and undergoing open-heart surgery. The clip closes with video of Cheney fighting to get a breath of air.
Cut to Mika, doubled-over, laughing hysterically, literally to the point of tears.

Joe Scarborough [facetiously?] admonishes her: "What's wrong with you? You think that's funny? I thought it was in bad taste, and you're thinking it's funny? If it was a liberal, you would be going through a whole --
Mika responds "I usually don't ," then relapses into uncontrollable laughter.
Note: the tip about this item came from reader Kathy S., who reported that Mika laughed "for a full minute." The NB editor who passed the tip along to me understandably imagined that Kathy might have overestimated the length of Mika's laughing jag. But putting the stopwatch on it, from Mika's first audible laugh, until she at last gets herself together with a final wipe of her tears of laughter . . . 63 seconds elapse!

I would be terminally mortified to have laughed at that, on air.
At first I thought "perhaps it was the MTM theme", which was a little funny as in odd, at first. But since they really didn't "do" anything with the Mary Tyler Moore theme (perhaps if Dick Cheney had thrown his hat up in the air or somesuch) it might have had a touch of comedy value....but the segues from healthy Cheney, to the rifle picture, to him being wheeled into a hospital, a beating heart, and then Cheney gasping for breath....nothing remotely funny there.

The difference between "them" and "us" is that we wouldn't do that because, while we conservatives may not be able to control the initial thought that comes to us, we have the ability to evaluate that thought and act or not act on it. Had a doctor appointment this AM and the TV was on Joe Smoe. Good thing I didn't hear that or my blood pressure would have maxed out. It was bad enough that I had to watch about 30 seconds of that ignorant Larry O'Donnell. Thank goodness I settled down before the nurse took the BP. Without going all Godwin and such, I would like to point out that this is the result of dehumanizing your enemy. Pretty soon you lose all empathy with an entire group of people. I once read of a classroom experiment where the teacher announced that children of a certain eye color were inferior, soon all of the kids were picking on them and shunning them with glee. I watch this show every day and I have seen the slow descent of Mika's fall into becoming a left-wing hack. Even though I have found her totally biased, I really was shocked today at her reaction to that Dick Cheney clip. She is unable to look at anything fairly anymore. She has ruined her journalist credentials. Any criticism at all of the Obama Administration is unfair to her. Also, during her time on Morning Joe, she has exposed her lack of knowledge about almost everything. She doesn't know anything about music, sports, history, geography, popular tv shows, movies or ordinary American culture. She may think she is a political analyst, but how can she be when she is so partisan and has no knowledge to base any opinions on? She is about as useful as the foreign policy disaster of a father she has. "Zignef" and Carter brought the country down to within a hair of collapse before Reagan saved it in the nick of time. Heres a few of his foreign policy gems you might recall: The Marial boat lift (Castro emptied his prisons and psyche wards and sent them to the US by the thousands)...Selling off US gold bullion to Europe for worthless dollars to "show faith in our currency" (cost us dearly)...Amnesty for US draft dodgers....And his shining moment: The Iran Hostage Crisis and "rescue" debacle....There's plenty for Ms. Brezinski to laugh at in her own family album....with or without the Mary Tyler Moore music....

It appears we are already seeing Van Jones influence on AOL's editorial section.
On AOL's home page yesterday, they ran the clip of Mika cracking up on Morning Joe, and the lead to it said something along the lines of "Here is Mika cracking up at a (sort of funny) video of Dick Cheney."
AOL's "News and Editorial Section" has been leaning way to the Left for a long time, but this is clear proof that AOL is now completely over on the Far Left Dark Side.
