Schultz's Red Scare: Supporting Republican Michigan Gov Equals 'Lining Up With Communist Party'
Wait a sec! Isn't it Republicans who supposedly are irresponsibly accusing Dems of being socialists and Commies? Check that. Ed Schultz has declared--not paraphrasing, actually quoting--that Tea Partiers who support Republican Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder are "lining up with the Communist Party."
Schultz was set off by Snyder's signing of an emergency bill giving, as per this report, "broad new powers to emergency financial managers appointed by the state of Michigan."
View video after the jump.
Watch Schultz emit his mind-blowing Red Scare.
ED SCHULTZ: [Republican Michigan Governor Rick] Snyder's plan flies in the face of everything conservatives have ever stood for. If you're in Michigan, and you're a Tea Partier, and if you support this, I just want you to know, you're lining up with the Communist Party--in case you didn't know. This is what they did in the old Soviet Union. It's heavy-handed, dictatorial stuff. Is that what you want?

So... Let me get this straight....Opposing the socialists is equal to lining up with the Communists. Is that about the essence of what you're saying Ed?
Ed really doesn't have even the least little bit of respect for his viewers, does he?
Has Ed gone to the "Big Lie" theory that says a bigger lie will be more believable to the stupid masses? I don't think there is any way Ed thinks what he says has even the smallest grain of truth to it. He just keeps sinking lower.
Hmm.

He obviously loves playing the "little union people" card and unfortunately he has to cover the Japan distraction. I can't believe anyone watches his show - he wouldn't if he weren't the host these days. You can tell anything but union rabble-rousing bores him. It's the first rule of modern liberalism

It's never been fair to force workers to pay union dues just to work. The liberals/dems have lost their funding base. Obamao is going to have to hide all that Soros money. I'm surprised(not really) that no one ever really made a point of Olbergoebbels and Richard Maddow being CALLED to the WH by Obamalinsky for a huddle. That was probably the biggest transgression by "journolists" I've seen yet under the Empty Suit's administration as far as ethics are concerned... That made it way obvious that MSNBC is truly an arm of the admininstration. With that in mind, Ed obviously gets his marching orders from Obamao like the rest of MSNBC. This is just the distraction Glenn Beck talked about on a show that aired awhile ago. Obama is aware the jig is up with so many calling him(I think I'm Number One) a socialist and even Communist. This is an Alinsky tactic directly from the White House. PsychoTalkerEd doesn't have the brains to pull off this kind of turn around. He's an idiot that is completely incapable of using that kind of smoke and mirror logic. He's the mindless bully in the schoolyard who some kids use to sic on other kids.....then goes off into the corner to eat his own boogers. After all, he is a short bus rider......I'm strangely drawn to staring at Ed's humongous cranium

What a horrible place to find myself... I don't think he is right... but I think he has a point. First of all, we are talking Michigan here, not Wisconsin. Michigan has just passed six laws that give the state government the power to take over failing towns, counties and school systems and assign them financial managers with the power to break union contracts, fire people, etc. What Ed is saying is that this is a strong arm tactic that the communists would use and he is jealous that the Republicans came up with it first. As a conservative... I have my concerns with it as well. I don't like the idea the state can seize power away from the locals and impose their solutions on their constituents. In the hands of a benevolent government, this wouldn't be a problem... but the Democrats might someday come back to power. It would also be nice if this NEW AND IMPROVED website would let me format my own paragraphs instead of running everything together.Parapraphs

It certainly could be concerning that a an emergency city administrator, an unelected official, is given so much power. And I'm sure if the shoe were on the other foot - say a liberal were given short term unchecked power over the budget - we'd all be screaming bloody murder. However, this situation reminds me of Cincinnatus, the mythical (probably) roman who was made temporary dictator during a crisis that threatened Rome's existence. Sometimes short term power that is out of balance (not checked) is needed to get things done. It can hardly be argued that the politicians in Detroit have not failed miserably. Having lived there for over 30 years of my life (but not since 2003), I'm well schooled in Detroit politics. Nothing of any consequence has been accomplished by that city's government since the 60s, so expecting them to make the tough choices needed to balance the budget is not reasonable. In this circumstance, a special office with special powers is called for. I just hope the powers are for a limited time and the law is well-written to protect the people. With the exception of

Detroit, I believe most cities here have the "unelected official" type of government now. They're called city managers and seek the advise of the city commissions, but they are, in fact, unelected officials running the city.
As to what the city of Detroit has accomplished since the 60's, Coleman Young did manage to turn a trickle of whites moving out of Detroit, into a flood known as "white flight".
I don't like it either

Seems the problem is, they don't have a way to legally have cities and towns in MI declare bankruptcy. If they did, the effect would be similar, with someone appointed with broad powers to manage the affairs of the bankrupt city/town for a specified period of time. The difference is, in a bankruptcy the city/town elected leaders would decide they have to declare bankruptcy. Giving the State the authority to make the decision, possibly against the will of the elected leaders of a community, to replace elected leaders with an appointed bureaucrat could lead to serious problems under a Governor willing to abuse that power.Real News Story out of Michigan

The unions are closer to Communism than the tea party in the same ration of inches to lightyears.Snyder more of a RINO than Ed will admit
Submitted by V the K on Thu, 03/17/2011 - 12:08pm.
FWIW, Snyder is no conservative. The public employee unions in Michigan are barely getting touched in his budget proposals, he wants to spend more money on education and promoting tourism, and he wants the taxpayers to pay for a bridge to Canada that private industry is willing to build on its own dime; just so the corrupt state and city of Detroit governments can keep their hands in the pie.Even the leader of the state Democrat party has praised Snyder's proposals. ""Eighty percent (of Snyder's agenda) could have been written by Democrat. Health care, education, P-20 education, the DRIC, his urban agenda. They're all things he'll find support for among Democrats. His problem will be with his own party." You won't hear that from Ed/Andy though.

Ya know Ed's own "One Nation Rally" had a sponsor by the name of "Communist Party USA" or did he forget that? Way to alienate his viewers who spoke so highly of this rally.
So the question I gotta ask, does that mean Ed is a Republican because he lined up with them on Oct. 2nd last year?
