Uygur: Unborn Babies Would Oppose Limiting Right To Abort Them

By Mark Finkelstein | March 02, 2011 | 21:04

A  A

Wouldn't blame you for doubting this, so fantastical is the proposition.  But Cenk Uygur has claimed that given the chance, unborn babies would oppose restrictions on their mothers' right to abort them.

Cenk made his grotesque suggestion in the course of discussing an Ohio bill that would forbid abortions as soon as a baby's heartbeat can be detected.  Proponents plan to let a nine-week old unborn baby symbolically testify.

View video after the jump.

CENK UYGUR: By all accounts, the fetus will be the youngest ever to testify. That's because he or she is not really testifying, because he or she is not really a person yet. In fact, at that point, we don't even know whether he or she is a he or she.  You know what else hasn't formed at that point?  Their mouth.  Making it a little hard to testify.  But goofball Republicans have wheeled in a woman, done an ultrasound, and listened to the heartbeat of the fetus in the womb.

If the bill is enacted, it would be the first, I'm sorry, it would be the most restrictive abortion law in the country. Now, we reached out to the fetus to see if he or she wanted to come on the show, but it did not say anything, because it does not have a mouth. But if it could talk, I'm pretty sure it would say, could you please get out of my mother's uterus.

So not only does renowned theologian-cum-scientist Cenk know that a nine-week old is "not really a person," he also is "pretty sure" that if it could speak, the baby would sound like . . . Eleanor Smeal.  Perhaps tomorrow night Uygur will explain why an unborn baby would not want to save itself.

Comcast owns 51% and G.E still owns.49% and I think the main reason this deal was made is because G.E.Jeff Immelt is now Obama's head council on jobs and competitiveness. So nothing has changed at MSNBC they are still Obama channel pushing his agenda so G.E. can Billions on Obama's Fascist style Big Government subsidised and mandated crony capitalism! So G.E. has no agenda there right? He displays a staggering ignorance

Submitted by GrannyGrump42 on Thu, 03/03/2011 - 1:02pm.

this clown says that a baby at nine weeks has "no mouth" with which it could protest its impending doom.

First of all, the Ohio law could protect babies younger than nine weeks, depending on how you define "detecting" the heart beat.

http://www.visembryo.com/baby/10.html

Carnegie Stage 10, 21-23 days post-ovulation, "The cells which become the eyes appear as thickened circles just off of the neural folds. The cells of the ears are also present." "The two endocardial tubes formed in Stage 9 fuse in Stage 10 to form one single tube derived from the roof of the nueral tube, which becomes S-shaped and makes the primitive heart asymmetric. As the S-shape forms, cardiac muscle contraction begins."

This is one week after the first missed period, three weeks into the pregnancy.

It's not long after this point that the baby has a mouth:

http://www.visembryo.com/baby/13.html

Carnegie Stage 13: 27-29 days post-ovulation, "The brain differentiates into the three main parts: the forebrain, midbrain and hindbrain." "Primitive mouth with a tongue is recognizable."

Two weeks after the first missed period, four weeks into the pregnancy.

As to when you could detect the baby's sex:

http://www.visembryo.com/baby/20.html

Carnegie Stage 20: c. 8 weeks post-ovulation. "Brain is connected to tiny muscles and nerves and enables the embryo to make spontaneous movements." "Testes or ovaries are distinguishable."

This is still younger than the 9 week fetus testifying that it's alive.

If, by "detecting" the heart beat, you mean seeing it on ultrasound:

http://www.justmommies.com/articles/heartbeat-on-ultrasound.shtml

That's six weeks into pregnancy, 4 weeks after conception.

Liberals' desires are truly monsterous

Submitted by Slyrr on Wed, 03/02/2011 - 10:22pm.

It's tragically fun, watching these liberals be honest about what they want to do, and twist themselves in to pretzels in their attempts to rationalize their monsterous desires.

In this case - liberals want to butcher  unborn babies in the womb.  Then harvest their cellular tissue (corpses), make some kind of puree out of the unborn and bathe in the juice, believing it to be some kind of miracle elixer that will give them eternal youth, cure all disease and make them immortal.

Never mind how ghoulish and vampirish it sounds when you say it flat out - that's what liberals want and what they believe.  And to justify this utterly evil desire, they say such outrageous things as, 'our infant victims would WANT to sacrifice themselves to our bloodlust if they knew how bad we want to bathe in their juices!'

If a Liberal/Democrat politician/media figure wants to put their arms around you, or pat you on the back, all they're doing is looking for a good place to stick a knife.

Typical leftist dogma

Submitted by Ashrak on Wed, 03/02/2011 - 10:54pm.

Don't we all know by now that every progressive leftist liberal is so smart, so uber-educated that they always know what other people would say and think.

Wait, he said they aren't people yet. Oooops on his part. Like always, leftists talk themselves into the corner of self-contradiction.

Abortion need not be legal or illegal because whether legal or illegal people still choose it. This actuality is demonstrated daily by everything from drunk driving to jihadi murder. That isn't a solution beyond a feel good measure that generates money for legislators to spend. It's an illusion of solution.

Abortion need not be chosen. That is the answer, imho. That solution sees resolution whether that ugliness is legal or illegal.

I see this danger. A government powerful enough to say you can or can't have or do something also wields power to force you to do or have or not have or not do something. That makes me think of China and it's enfroced one child policy. China, where they now experience a result of that policy nobody thinks about very often. The extended family is being destroyed. So few have cousins....

I look forward to the day not another abortion happens. I refuse to put on the blinders that making it "illegal" brings that day to fruition. Prohibition itself just doesn't solve anything. It generally causes more problems that it attempts to solve.

Expanding choice, as in the example of adoption, has avoided many abortions. This is a successful model we should replicate, again, imho.

That an individual right exists requires that some policy positions be removed from the table of debate.

I think I see where you are coming from

Submitted by GW on Thu, 03/03/2011 - 3:13pm.

if I look at prohibiting abortion as a similar action to prohibiting alcohol.  That is, the prohibition of alcohol caused a lot of problems, as did a complete laissez-faire attitude that avoided any regulation of alcohol.  From that point of view, your point makes complete sense.

On the other hand, if I were to view abortion as the termination of an innocent human life, as pro-lifers do view it, then prohibiting abortion would be seen as similar to prohibiting murder.  True, murders continue to occur despite being illegal, but no one seriously considers legalizing murder, at least while keeping the name "murder".  I would think most folks agree that there would be a lot more murders if murder were legalized.

Sorry that I can't provide a link, but I recall a doctor who counseled post-abortive woman state that he asked his patients if they would have had an abortion if it were illegal.  All of his patients said they would not have had an abortion if abortion were illegal.  This is not a scientific poll.  It was just him asking his patients who were seeking help with their regret of their abortions.  So, I think that probably a lot of women who had abortions and didn't regret their abortions would have had them anyway even if abortion was illegal.  That shouldn't surprise anyone, as there are murderers who murdered even though murder is illegal and don't regret it one bit, though they might regret getting caught.

So what I am saying is that if abortion were to be made illegal, there would be a lot fewer of them.

I don't see abortion becoming illegal as a possibility at this time.  I agree with your point that offering real expanded choices is a good strategy.  By 'offering real choices', I mean offering adoption services, offering help through crisis pregnancy centers, and offering real knowledge like ultrasounds.  But that's just my opinion, too.

Submitted by Ozconservative on Thu, 03/03/2011 - 6:46am.

Micheal Savage says that liberalism is a mental disorder, but I'm starting to think it is much, much more than that. Ask yourself this......why do liberals applaud the taking of innocent life, yet scream and howl in protest when a murderer is executed or Abdul the terrorist is killed. I believe the answer is this: Liberalism is an evil, Satanic philosophy. It is anti-life, oppressive and soul-destroying.

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. - Winston Churchill

Hey Uygur, if and when you actually speak to those young Americans, do me a favor, ask them what their feelings are toward the late term aborting of the likes of ' Tiller the Baby Killer '. Fair question, wouldn't you say?

Liberals ... we can't live with them, they couldn't survive without us ...

I know, lets ask his mom if she would like to have a late term abortion. I will be glad to conduct the procedure for her. After all, it is her right!

Cenk Uyger is a flaming loony.

Submitted by troxruss on Thu, 03/03/2011 - 12:23pm.

The baby would say "Get out of my mother's womb" when the abortionist is trying to kill it? The only one trying to get into it is the one who will perform the murder - is he saying that he doesn't want He or SHE going into it? This comment could be misconstrued as being pro-life.

Knowing that isn't the case, what he's saying is like being in a situation where someone broke into his house with a knife and is trying to kill him with it. The police are at the door trying to get in and stop the murder, but he is yelling at them to go away, upset with them rather than being upset with the one trying to stab him.

This guy,  like all who adopt a liberal, left-wing viewpoint, is JUST NOT RIGHT.

So according to this idiots illogic, a mute is not entitled to constitutional rights.

Liberals are advocates for equal rights and equal application of the law? Are we done tossing that obvious lie around yet? Liberals are all "wanna be" dictators who persecute those they don't like.

Culling the herd...

Submitted by Pilgrim1949 on Thu, 03/03/2011 - 6:00pm.

And I suppose this presumptuous twit would also have us believe that a goodly number of the Jews sent off to the "showers" per uncle Adolf's "cleansing" program would not have objected too terribly much to his creative means of culling the herd of the Jews infesting his planet.

....with the clear and sadly-obvious exception of ol' Georgie Soros, for whom this was just a minor inconvenience on his way to using the resulting piles of corpses as mere stepping stones to accumulating his own personal fortune.

What a warped, gordion-knot, twisted (il)logical path of non-thinking it takes to come to the whacked-out conclusion that this nitwit vomited forth.

Submitted by LizardLips on Thu, 03/03/2011 - 6:15pm.

What an incomprehensible uttering by this dolt.  I'm quite sure if a guest said ''m sure a fetus would say don't hurt me" there would have been howls of laughter and derision.  This comes from the folks at 'lean forward'  the new buzz word for progressive.

The real issue is this......

If you can hear a heartbeat, there is life, so an abortion would then be murder.

Enough said. End of debate.
