Schultz: The Republican Devil Makes Me Do It

By Mark Finkelstein | January 17, 2011 | 20:45

A  A

Ed Schultz would like to be more civil.  Really, he would. It's just that those reprehensible Republicans, by failing to agree with him, force poor Ed to advocate things like ripping out Dick Cheney's heart.

That was the Schultz's oft-repeated theme on his MSNBC show this evening.

View video after the jump.

Consider: if someone is truly intent on changing the tone, would they not show some moral leadership of their own?  Even if Ed is right about the GOP, does Schultz see himself as the totally reactive puppet of the Republicans?

ED SCHULTZ: Now, I'd be more than happy to change my tone on this show.  I would do it, as soon as the Republicans stop blocking policies that help working-class Americans . . . We're not civil?  The hell we aren't! Republicans have no business talking about civility and tone until they change the way they govern . . . The tone in this country will never change until Republicans quit the perpetual campaign cycle and start acting like statesmen . . . And I reiterate, before we go to our first guest tonight, I'll change the tone of this show, I won't be as aggressive as I've always been.  But I know that's a pipe dream. The fact of the matter is the Republicans are never gonna, never, they're never going to work in unison with the Democrats!  Because they don't want to see this president get any credit whatsoever . . . So I'll change the tone when they prove to the American people that they're not about defeating the president, and moving the agenda forward for American workers.

Obama himself sure is being

Submitted by Ashrak on Mon, 01/17/2011 - 8:54pm.

Obama himself sure is being awfully quite and keeping quite the low profile these days isn't he?

His most strident supporters, especially among the establishment media, are making foosl of themselves, and the entire liberal left, worse than any time in the past.

They are so dedicated, so invested in reaction that no action, much less that of leadership, is possible. And it is on display for all the world to see.

That an individual right exists requires that some policy positions be removed from the table of debate.

What else can he do? He

Submitted by Slyrr on Tue, 01/18/2011 - 12:09am.

What else can he do?

He went out last Thursday, descending from his throne on Mt. Olympus and issuing his godly decree, commanding his vassals in the leftist media to amp it down.

Obviously, he can't control them either.

The sooner this odious man and his cabal of 'czars' are cast out, the better.  Then we can get to work undoing the damage he's done.

If a Liberal/Democrat politician/media figure wants to put their arms around you, or pat you on the back, all they're doing is looking for a good place to stick a knife.

If Schultz were on any other channel besides MSNBC, by now the staff at the asylumn he escaped from would have known where to go to pick him up.

He knows he cannot control himself so he's basically kicking off his farewell tour.

Ever since the Democrats

Submitted by Chris Norman on Mon, 01/17/2011 - 9:40pm.

Ever since the Democrats decided to adopt the snarky and smart ass language of James Carville and Paul Begala back in '92, they've slid more and more into general nastiness and bile. The cess pool was complete when the language and tactics used by the punks at MoveOn, the Daily Kos, and the huffington Post became first the language and tactics of the Democrat Party, then  quickly was embraced by a willing cable media and accepted by the network news media. No one can convince me that there is anywhere near an equivalent nastiness in the GOP - I can only wish there was just a little. Democrats and their PR department, the MSM, can say just as nasty and bilious things about Republicans and conservatives as they want and Republicans and conservatives just look flustered and respond with mild protests and bland defenses.

Let's make the 2012 campaign: "The War on Error"

Hey Ed

Submitted by Scott Trent on Mon, 01/17/2011 - 9:36pm.

It`s not about a sitting President getting any credit... It`s about the fundamental transformation the Saul Alinskyites like you are shoving down our throats. It`s about the war on capitalism and Liberty and Freedom by you idiots! This country has not seen a divide this great of our people probably since the civil war. You push the divide every day by pushing this fundamental transformation on us. We will fight you marxists to the bitter end. Have a nice day!

And another thing...

Submitted by Scott Trent on Mon, 01/17/2011 - 9:44pm.

You gotta love it! We have a President who thinks our Constitution is "flawed" because he thinks it does not do enough to redistribute the wealth. You have Pelosi, when asked about the Constitutionailty of ObamaCare, replied - "Are you serious, are you serious?". Our Constitution is the law of the land. Every one of these politicians took an oath to uphold and to defend this most sacred of documents. This fundamental transformation of America, with no jobs and no growth to speak of is THE cause of this great divide in our country. ObamaCare is simply yet another new massive entitlement to be funded by taking from one group by force, and giving it to another. And, it`s a jobs killer in an Affordable SOCIAL Housing recession. Not a good idea. Yes, I said that. The Affordable SOCIAL Housing mortgage foreclosure crisis caused the recession. Government caused this by opening up BILLIONS of dollars a year in new credit to people who previously did not qualify from 1995 to 2007 when it collapsed our banks leading up to the bailouts. Some Republicans even sounded the warnings of Affordable SOCIAL Housing as far back as 2003. Bush warned Congress 34 times in the years leading up to the collapse. McCain also sounded the warnings before the crash. What effect will Affordable SOCIAL HealthCare have on our economy in say 10 years if it`s not ripped out by it`s rootsbefore then? Medicaid programs will be swamped and the Feds will turn away causing heartache to most States. Affordable Social Housing and Affordable Social Health Care - A One Two Punch on how to bring a SuperPower to it`s knees!

Fellow conservatives, it's time for us all to recognize this simple truth, and take responsibility for it.  It's completely our fault that Ed Schultz is an overweight, obnoxious, vitriol-spewing, loony-tune hate-monger.

I, for one, would like to step up and apologize to my fellow Americans.  I simply don't understand how I could have been so thoughtless as to let Ed get that way.  I hope you all can one day see your way clear to forgiving me for my role in this.  Please don't take it out on Ed; like any good liberal, he can't really be held responsible for his actions or words.
