Scarborough: 'I Hope Palin's Proud Of Herself' For Killing GOP Senate Majority

By Mark Finkelstein | October 27, 2010 | 09:01

A  A

If only Sarah Palin hadn't promoted the likes of Sharron Angle and Christine O'Donnell, Republicans would be on the verge of winning the Senate majority.  That was Joe Scarborough's thesis on Morning Joe today, culminating in Scarborough saying that he hopes Sarah Palin "is proud of herself" for having killed the GOP's chances.

Scarborough sought to inoculate himself against criticism from the right, insisting he would have wanted to see a "mainstream conservative" in the Nevada and Delaware races.  Warned Joe: "right-wing freaks, don't email me going 'you're a RINO.'"  View video after the jump.

JOE SCARBOROUGH:  If there had been a mainstream conservative--conservative--candidate [in Nevada].  So let me put it this way: right-wing freaks don't email me going "you're a RINO, you're a RINO." . . . The fact that Republicans put Sharron Angle up is the only reason this race is within 10 points.  Delaware: we know, Mike Castle, right now Mike Castle would be measuring curtains and we would be talking about a Republican majority in the United States Senate.  I hope that Sarah Palin, and other people--Pat [Buchanan] is laughing--but I really hope that Sarah Palin is proud of herself. I really hope she is.  Because let me tell you something, Pat. When Barack Obama selects his next Supreme Court justice, and Democrats are in charge by one, and it's Pat Leahy that's going to be running the Supreme Court nomination processes, I hope social conservatives like you are staring at Sarah Palin and saying "thank you, Sarah Palin, because you just made sure the person running this committee would be Pat Leahy from Vermont instead of someone from the Republican party."

Votes v. seats

Submitted by KC Mulville on Wed, 10/27/2010 - 9:42am.

What you might lose in the committee. you make up on the floor.

The tea party might mean you lose one or two seats, and that keeps the committee in Democrat hands. But if the price of getting the committee is to depend on a handful of RINOs who vote to confirm Obama's candidate anyway, what are you actually losing?

The tea party isn't about anger in elections. It's about honesty while governing. If you lose a couple seats that you might have won, so what? You win votes that you had lost before.

Well, OK, we're not that smart.  ;-)  I know it's obvious, to everyone except Joe, that is.

What does that say about him?  Whose Kool-Aid is he drinking??  Answer: the Media's.

I think he's been in the media too long, and has absorbed their "Compromise and moderation are the key for Republicans" attitude.

Submitted by SamC on Wed, 10/27/2010 - 9:47am.

Maybe Joe could have highlighted the Republican candidates in a positive way instead of tearing them down every day, every conversation.

Maybe we'll all have Joe to thank if the Republicans don't win the majority.

Nah, Joe doesn't have that much pull with conservatives.

is having Senators with Rs after their name.  I guess it doesn't matter if they're all Snowe, Collins & Graham types who will be hard to distinguish from Democrats.

As for calling Joe a RINO - he should be happy if people still think he's a Republican of any kind.

Mike Castle, right now Mike

Submitted by motherbelt on Wed, 10/27/2010 - 10:00am.

Mike Castle, right now Mike Castle would be measuring curtains and we would be talking about a Republican majority in the United States Senate.    BIG. FAT. HAIRY. DEAL.   This, from RedState rang a bell (emphasis mine):   Have these people learned nothing about the policy and politics of the Republican Party over the past 16 years?  What is the purpose of winning back control of both houses of congress if it will lead to the same results as last time?  In other words, we will have a slim majority that is held hostage by RINO Senators, in which we will receive the blame for wrongheaded policies that result from initiatives that are anything but Republican!  Then we will get crushed in the next election and keep repeating the vicious cycle that was 1995-2006.      Aside:  I hate to sound bitchy, but  is formatting in the comments ever going to get fixed?  Why is it fine sometimes (see my comment sabove) and then turns screwy like this???

The big worry folks is voter fraud and it's happening now.  If we don't do something about it (monitor,  call for investigations),  the thieves will rob is again.

Having SEIU "configuring" and manning the voting machines is absurd and must be stopped.

Submitted by Free Stinker on Wed, 10/27/2010 - 11:03am.

Last night Mark Levin read an comment by Nate Silver claiming if the whole Senate (not just 1/3) were up for re-election, the GOP would not only have a FILIBUSTER PROOF majority, but they might even get a VETO PROOF majority.
-
-
Story discussing Silvers remarks can be found here: http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2010/10/full-senate-grabs-gop-win-filibusterp...
-
Joe dosn't know what he's talking about. The GOP may not get control of the Senate, but that has more to do with the fact that only 1/3 of the Senate is getting re-elected and that the GOP establishment isn't supporting O'Donnell or clamping down on Murkowski than the crapola coming out of Joe's Mouth

Warned Joe: "right-wing freaks, don't email me going "you're a RINO."

JOE! We would never even THINK of privleging you with such an illustrious title. You're a liberal, no one denies that.

A confused and disturbed liberal at that.

You claim to have wanted to see a "Conservative" in Deleware and Nevada - yet you lash out at "right wingers".

Perhaps the drugs you're receiving in the coffee at CiNN are having a hallucinogenic effect on your brain.

Joe is an idiot liberal.  I guess when Joe was doing his arithmetic he forgot all about Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Pat Toomey, Kelly Ayotte, Ron Johnson, Scott Brown, and the rising stars in SC, TN, IL, all of whom owe their existence to the tea party movement of which Sarah Palin is only a titular head.

Joe get out now...

Submitted by okiehawk44 on Wed, 10/27/2010 - 2:56pm.

Joe for your sake and the future of your children get out of NYC now -- today!

You're going down the John McCain drain. John McCain thought he was a clever, funny, intelligent and handsome man because that's what leftists told him and then the rug pullers came into the room and now he's the butt of leftist jokes -- even his daughter Meghan thinks following daddy's example is a winner. She's the next Cindy Sheehan.

Flee Joe while you have even a tiny chance -- flee!

Whew! Now that I have that out of my system I'll just advise you Joe to reregister as a Democrat like you used to be and like they say in the antique car collecting business "match the numbers." Register how you vote Joe and stop worrying about being a RINO. Nobody believes you are even close to being a Republican anymore -- that includes your mother.
