Scratching my head, wondering if I can remember a so-called correspondent so openly mocking a major political figure . . .
On Morning Joe, NBC "correspondent" Andrea Mitchell ridiculed Sarah Palin's use of hand notes during her Tea Party Q. and A. by displaying some hand notes of her own . . .
ANDREA MITCHELL: She went after him on the teleprompter issue, you know, we need more, we need somebody who doesn't, I don't remember the exact words, who doesn't use a teleprompter, gives a great speech and uses a teleprompter. Then it was noted by Gawker that she looked down at her hand during the Q. and A. and that on her hand she had written her top three points: energy and budget cuts and optimism.
So I figured I would do the same thing today, just in case the prompter broke. I had, I knew that I was going to be on with Chuck and Mika. But then I saw Joe that you were over on the Today show, so I figured I had to cross you out and put Chuck in. It's a great deal: if you can put all your policy pronouncements on your hand.
Does anyone remember the last time Andrea hauled out a teleprompter to tease Pres. Obama?

I would have asked, "Why did Sarah have a few notes written on her hand when the rest of her notes were waiting for her on the lectern?" I may be wrong, but the answer seems obvious. When she was backstage, she decided to include a few other things in the speech, so she wrote them down on the only surface available. She prepared herself so she wouldn't forget them. Isn't the ability to prepare yourself an admirable quality? And doesn't this seem like a reasonable and logical explanation for the notes?
By ridiculing the hand notes, Andrea is only demonstrating her own intellectual shortcomings. And you're right struggler, she's petty, too.

Contrast that to obama, who needs his whole speech on the rolling teleprompter. He needs every word of every topic. He has a need to stop speaking if the teleprompter gets too far ahead... so he can tell the operator to rewind, in order to keep up.
The fact is, that obama's extemporaneous speech is interrupted by innumerably more um's... ah's... errr's....uh's... than is Palin's extemporaneous speech.
The libero-socialists that are increasingly infesting the nation must denigrate Palin at every opportunity, since her Conservative message is so powerful and so opposed to their plan for the nation. The crib notes on the palm was flat out stupid. She could have come out with written notes. But the image of the crib notes is an image that will follow her the rest of any campaign she engages in and will be mocked. That showed her to be an amateur and one that she will permanently regret. You are seeing that now.
Palin has a great background, has done very well to this point, but you have to be more than a true believer to be elected President, beause after Obama voters will be looking for substance.

As for the left (media included) she could speak from memory, 3X5s, worksheets, notes on her hand, teleprompter or off the Goodyear blimp and they would have criticized her so there is no real reason to worry about how she will be perceived because for the left it will always be negative and any negative spin will be permanent.
Obama voters will be looking for a more meaningful message not substance. Substance requires too much involvement and realistic expectations to have wide appeal.
