Latest dispatch from the "dissent is patriotic" front: if you oppose Pres. Obama in his health care initiative, you're "undermining the country."
None less than the great Howard Dean said so on this evening's Rachel Maddow show.
Alison Stewart was filling in for the eponymous host.
HOWARD DEAN: When I was growing up in this country, Republicans and Democrats could actually sit down and have a sane conversation. You might not agree but you could get stuff done. This Republican party—this shrinking Republican party—is just determined to undermine President Obama. And unfortunately, you have to undermine the country in order to undermine the president. I think that's too bad.
Will the MSM eventually get around to reporting the flaming hypocrisy of the dissent-is-patriotic crowd?

August 24, 2009 - 23:15 ET by danybhoynyyankee55,
I agree, I love seeing Dean talk out of his @$$ on MSNBC or CNN. The more he talks, the dumber he sounds, like Biden. But he is starting to plagiarize like Biden. I caught some interview he did somewhere, & he puts his stamp of "authority" to what he said by finishing what he said with"...we are right, they are wrong...". Now the guy who has said that forever on his radio show, Andrew Wlikow, caught this. But for anyone without an XM or Sirius account, you won't know it.
At least when we use someones words as a tagline, we credit the people behind the quote, Dr.Dean. It is called attribution, look into it.

The failure of the Carter
August 24, 2009 - 22:06 ET by JAJTThe failure of the Carter years was, in Reagan’s view, the failure of the man at the helm and the policies he had pursued at home and abroad. At no time had Ronald Reagan believed that the American covenant had failed, that America should apologize for itself in the world beyond its shores. There was no narcissism in Reagan. It was stirring that the man who headed into the sunset of his life would bid his country farewell by reminding it that its best days were yet to come.
Good Bless Ronald Reagan and our Patriots who are speaking up all over America. JAJT

August 25, 2009 - 07:21 ET by GeneralAlThe truth is, the only ones going to Hell in America are the blind sheep following the wolf dressed in sheep's clothing! Those same Catholics or Evangelical Leftist have forgotten one rule: "When you point the finger at someone, remember, there are three pointing back at you!" Obama is leading his sheep to Slaughter!
My typical response
August 25, 2009 - 08:38 ET by moderncommentaries83My typical response is to ask them to show me where Jesus demanded a QALY analysis before healing someone, or where he withheld treatment because someone was too old or sick to be deemed worthy.
That usually gets them flustered.
The thing is, if these people were really paying attention, they'd see that Obamacare doesn't meet the criteria for health care reform according to Catholic teaching - especially in the areas of respecting life, respecting the consciences of health care workers, and making it fiscally responsible and sustainable.
So I know that I'm in the right here. I am not going to sacrifice the unborn, the disabled, the elderly on the altar of "social justice" just because people who already cherry-pick Catholic teachings think I'm going to hell. Puh-leeze.
I think changes need to be made to the system, but I'm far more apt to want those changes to be similar to the ones Whole Foods CEO John Mackey suggested in his Wall Street Journal op-ed from August 12. Here are just the main points:
Those are more than reasonable, and likely to be highly-effective, suggestions that could garner genuine health care reform. In fact, I really don't have a quibble with any one of them.
And in case you didn't know, the Obama-loving far left is now engaging in a boycott of Whole Foods - including accusing the CEO of killing 21,000 people a year - because he suggested reforms different from Obamacare. And here are some of the benefits and corporate policies of Whole Foods:
Michelle Malkin also has coverage on the union goons who are behind the boycott. The thing is: isn't Whole Foods exactly the kind of company lefties always say they want? A company that's not "greedy" that practices "good corporate citizenship" and treats its employees well? I believe someone said the minimum pay range for Whole Foods employees is something like $13/hour. I believe that the reasons for the outrage are twofold:
So this is a prime example of what everyday Americans are going through for opposing Obamacare as it stands.
But I'm refusing to get flustered. Rasmussen yesterday had Obama's approval index at an all-time low of -14 (today it's at -11). Over 80% of Americans are happy with their current health plans. I'm praying Obamacare is dead in the water.

Going to be very interesting how he votes for Cap and Trade, OCare and most of all Amnesty before his election...he?!

You Are Undermining This Great Country, Mr, Dean.
August 25, 2009 - 08:21 ET by Wildcatter1980Mr. Dean, I have a news flash for you. It is you and your party that is all about undermining this great country and do not try to deny it! You and your party have quite literally been shredding the Constitution of the United States of America and any other pertinent documents or laws for quite some time now. Also, have you or anyone else in your party stood up and said that your jobs as elected officials are to serve the people who elected you? No, instead, your collective actions are those of people who seem to think that the rest of us are here to serve you!
You are WRONG on all accounts. You cannot and should not expect "sane" conversation so long as you persist on walking all over the Constitution and the people of this great country.
I do not believe you when you say you want "sane" conversation, because "sane" conversation to you is complete and total acquiescence to your wants and desires rather than the upholding of the Constitution of the United States of America and serving the people of this great country.
If you truly want "sane" conversation, you need to first and foremost not only pledge to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America, you need to say that the Democrat-controlled Congress will pass and President Obama will sign the Enumerated Powers Act. The Enumerated Powers Act will require that all current and future legislation shall identify the section of the Constitution that specifically empowers the Federal government to enact that legislation. No legislation shall be passed that does not have specific Constitutional authorization to be enacted by the Federal government.
Then, upon enactment of the Enumerated Powers Act, Congress will begin a comprehensive review of ALL Federal law to identify the applicable section(s) of the Constitution that empowers the Federal government to enact that law. Any law that is found to not have a provision in the Constitution providing the Federal authorization of that law will be repealed immediately.

We need to stop calling them "Progressives" when in reality they are big government "Socialists" who no longer value the individual's rights to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.
