GMA 'Forgiveness' Segment Features Sanford and Vitter, Ignores Edwards, Clinton

Only one recently-wronged political wife—Elizabeth Edwards—has written a book discussing her ordeal.  But in its segment today on "forgiveness," Good Morning America ignored John Edwards and his wandering ways.  When it came to polyamorous politicans, ABC focused exclusively—surprise!—on two Republicans: Mark Sanford and David Vitter.

The release of the Libyan Lockerbie murderer, the Manson murders anniversary and the re-entry into the NFL of Michael Vick were the jumping-off points for the segment. But when politics popped up, the only examples bore the GOP label . . .

BILL WIER: We want to take a look now at a topic that has come up a lot in recent weeks: forgiveness.  From the release of the Pan Am bomber to the anniversary of the Manson murders, the return of Michael Vick, people have been talking quite a bit about how and when it is OK to forgive.
. . .
RON CLAIBORNE: To forgive or not is one of life's most difficult decisions. A drama usually played out in private, but sometimes publicly, and controversially.
Cut to clip of Mark Sanford saying he let his family down.
CLAIBORNE: This summer South Carolina governor Mark Sanford admitted to having an affair with an Argentinian women. His wife Jenny eventually moved out, with the couple's children. The wife of Louisiana senator David Vitter, caught dallying with a prostitute, chose to forgive.
So what did Claiborne say about John Edwards' incipient admission of paternity of the child born to his lover, and his wife's book discussing the subject? And how did ABC portray Hillary's handling of the ultimate philanderer-in-chief?  Surely you jest.

Don't you wonder

Don't you wonder whether, when preparing for the show, the idea of discussing Edwards and Clinton ever even came up?

Mark... Agenda, agenda,

Mark...

Agenda, agenda, agenda.

Nothing is going to change with the leftist talking heads in the msm....ever...until they are basically irrelevant....which some of them are slowly inching towards becoming, you can tell by the ratings.   ;-)

But if you asked them, they

But if you asked them, they really don't see it as bias...? Why don't we just drop the charade? Everyone knows.  MSNBC has already dropped the charade.

In New Orleans

The local CBS affiliate in New Orleans, WWL-TV, has covered every aspect of the Stormy Daniels campaign , or preliminary campaign (a "listening" tour). Stormy Daniels is the ex-porn star who was contemplating a Senate run and had asked Larry Flynt to handle her campaign. WWL-TV left out that tidbit. She was obviously running to embarrass Vitter who's name showed up on the DC madam's list, and WWL-TV was happy to oblige. The one part of her campaign that WWL-TV didn't cover was her arrest for domestic violence.

All the stories WWL-TV did on Stormy Daniels (real name Stephanie Gregory Clifford) run for the Senate, they somehow missed this one :) Go figure.

I am the mob. Don't tread on me.

tired of liberal lies I

tired of liberal lies

I had a conversation about this post tonight with a closet conservative who works in network TV and every now and again in a production meeting brings up a Democrat name to profile in a story to use as an example.  The reaction is always the same that it's not FAIR to attach that person to such a negative story but if he suggests that it's not fair to attach a Republican to such a story when its proposed by collegues they argue that it gives the story credibility.  He says they really don't see the bias at all because it is a reflection of their world view.  He has to hide his true opinions as he has a family to support but says NOTHING will change in MSM as conservatives are looked at as an oddity.

I remember the only time he really pushed a story and let his collegues peek under the sheets so to speak was when Dale Ernhardt died.  My buddy is big into Nascar. It wasn't until an intern burst into tears at the news did the newsroom regulars got the drift that MAYBE this was a big story.  I love sports but hate Nascar, no offense, even then I was really upset at the news and said a prayer for his soul.  They can learn, notice how Nascar Dads became a catch phrase in the years following?  Sad how out of touch these people are.

Thats Somethin

["closet conservative"],,,-~ I reckon i jist did'nt know thar was such a thang; Now dad-gum-it, that's sad.<^>

If an unborn child cannot trust you, why should I,??

It is not ABC or Weir or Claiborne's job to criticize one of

their own. You don't publically criticize family, and John Edwards and Bill Clinton are part of the liberal media's family.

Besides, as this Salem-News article points out, Republican Sex Scandals Dwarf Those of Democrats.

-----------------------------------------------------------

"They have sacrificed integrity (whatever little they had) their character, their professionalism, to prop this guy and his administration up.  They are stenographers for Rahm Emanuel.  They're propagandists for the White House and, increasingly, the Democrat Party at large" ~ Rush Limbaugh on the state-run media

Leno Too

The a-hole Jay Leno does this too; when he needs a convenient fall-guy for a joke he turns to Vitter, a trivial scandal who most folks have long forgotten about. In such a target-rich environment of Spitzer, Edwards, Clinton, any Kennedy, Corzine, etc, Vitter is a nobody, except of course he is a Republican.

It's the Hypocrisy Stupid

The tempest in the teapot arose during the expansion of the 24x7 news cycle and the key story that drove this "conversation" around adultery was the "Lewinsky Scandal."

So its too easy for the media, both old and new, to look back and see what these Conservatives said about the Clinton affair.  (Pun Intended).  Therefore, when Republicans get busted for cheating or outed they roll the old tape of their lambasting Clinton's digressions and are shown to be hypocritical.  By the way, Edwards is a lying cheat, but he and Spitzer didn't vote for impeachment or call for Clinton's resignation like so many Republicans that got caught subsequently.

→ PTW

Allow me to take you back to 1974, when Democrats successfully toppled Ways and Means Chmn. Wilbur Mills (R) for an affair he had with stripper, Fannie Fox.

None of this started with Clinton.

We will Barry you! - Russian prophecy

Check your Facts on Wilbur

Wilbur was a democrat who briefly ran for president but was defeated in the primaries....further, after his two busts for alcohol related incidents, he did not seek re-election.

Don't let you misconceptions of Democrats cloud your positions...otherwise someone may call you biased.

→ I stand corrected

I've slept since then.  But you're right.  I shot my mouth off on that one.

We will Barry you! - Russian prophecy

I forgive

I forgive . . .

Elizabeth Edwards for marrying an idiot.

Monica Lewinsky for meeting a man that left a very yucky taste in her mouth.

The Obama children.  It wasn't their fault two liberal elitist racists decided to f.....k and have kids.
