Q. How can you tell that Hillary is blowing her African tour?
A. When even supporters like Tina Brown says she needs to get back home ASAP . . . and hit the gym.
JOE SCARBOROUGH: Tina Brown, what's wrong with my former, ex-girlfriend Hillary Clinton?A bit later, Brown returned to her notion that Hillary had encountered a . . . weighty problem.
TINA BROWN: What's wrong with Hillary is one week too long on this African hellish tour that she's on. Think of it from the human point of view: she is in her second week. She's hot. She is feeling fat. She had this horrible business where she suddenly lost it a bit over the whole Bill thing. Frankly, I want to get her home now. I want to get her home. Otherwise, by the time she hits Liberia, she's going to be saying: "what can I tell you? We had an idiot for the president!" She's letting it hang out.
SCARBOROUGH: Take the microphone away, get her on a -- maybe Bill ought to leave Vegas --
BROWN: I agree with that. She ought to get back to the gym!
BRZEZINSKI: Did she just say that? Tina?
SCARBOROUGH: I didn't say that. I'm suggesting that Bill Clinton get on a plane, on another mission of mercy, fly to Africa, get his wife, bring her home now!
Can you imagine the cries of feminist outrage if a conservative commentator, particularly one of the male persuasion, had made a similar suggestion?

August 13, 2009 - 07:18 ET by MidAmericaWhat a huge mistake the 'smartest woman in America' made when she signed on to join obama's Manson Family. She is Secretary of State only in her mind. Real power in obama's government is behind the scenes. Hillary miscalculated. We all did. Not too many thought obama could implode as fast as he has. If it wasn't for the media being part of team obama he would be completely finished by now. Had hillary stayed in the senate she could have retained her political power. With the absence of ted kennedy and the ghastly performances of pelosi/reid, hillary could have been the new de-facto leader of the senate and in a good position for 2012.
just wondering
August 13, 2009 - 08:11 ET by mom_roxHillary no doubt realized that the Sec. of State club is a more exclusive list than 'just' being a Senator. (even though these are sentator-for-life positions)
MA, your comment about Ted Kennedy triggered this thought. I wonder how this Health Care plan would have played out if Hillary were still in the Senate. With Kennedy absent, Hillary might have been the lead Senator in this. Hmm, had a HillaryCare plan passed, would Obama's ego allow him to share the limelight?

August 14, 2009 - 21:53 ET by mom_roxI came up with it when I saw all the tea being dumped at the Apr.15 tea parties. I just thought it was a such waste, and I don't even drink tea. just java for me.

My guess would be.... no. Obama doesn't always play well with others.
Hillary's lack of Judgement is only making her another Democrat.

Wow, how she must get along with our enemies.

August 13, 2009 - 08:34 ET by northoneI'm finding it difficult to drum up much sympathy for poor Hillary. She knew what what she was getting into when she signed with the devil to become Secretary of State. The fact that she's angry, bitter, and "feeling fat" is too damn bad. She has a job to do - do it!
More Understanding, Please
August 13, 2009 - 08:54 ET by northoneWe need to take a moment and think about what poor Hillary is going through. Her husband grabs world headlines by bringing home two captive journalists. While she's shaking her booty in Africa attempting a cultural dance, her husband in is Las Vegas celebrating his birthday with "friends". An innocent student who isn't enlightened on the role of modern western women offends her feminist ideals and sets her off. She can't do a thing with her hair in that heat and humidity. Water-retention has caused severe bloating. She sees her former colleagues in the senate in meltdown and disintegrating in the polls. Her boss, The One, is also taking a beating in the polls and hearing talk of a one-term presidency. And she's in Africa in what has become a shadow job - no power, no influence, no prestige. She's stuck! Poor thing - my heart bleeds. It's called Karma, Hillary. Get used to it!
I hear a lot of apologists for Hillary, on every channel.
August 13, 2009 - 08:57 ET by acaiguanaCan you imagine Kissinger, Rice, Eagleburger, or God help us, Albright doing this?
I thought not.

August 13, 2009 - 09:04 ET by Gat New YorkWhatever chance Hillary had to resign in 2010 and run against Obama in 2012 may have been ended with that and her prior comments.

Joe's show is really going down hill fast.
August 13, 2009 - 09:13 ET by JTPI don't care much about Hillary or what the clowns on this show say about her. But Joe's show is made up of the same elitist snobs almost every morning saying the same things. I get the feeling that because the camera is pointed at them that their opinion on whatever the subject of the minute is the most important thing being said that day. I keep checking in to see if anything changes but it has become so stale it is not worth it any longer.

August 13, 2009 - 09:17 ET by celatorThis event makes me laugh out loud every time I think of it. Look the the photo of Mzz Hillary. Looks like she's ready to get up and punch out the student who asked the question.
The smartest person in the known universe has been watching too many Robert DeNiro movies. Remember these lines from DeNiro's role as Travis Bickle in Taxi:
"You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? Then who the hell else are you talkin' to? You talkin' to me? Well I'm the only one here."
Travis Bickle plays the Secretary of State.
No citizen's right to life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, or property is safe as long as Obama is President of the United States.

August 13, 2009 - 10:39 ET by ConservativeMissourianYeah there may have been feminist outrage if a conservative commentator made a similar suggestion, but Hilary knew what she was getting herself into when she signed up for the role. She also knew the possibility that she may get lost in her husband's shadow every once in a while, so there is no excuse for her outrage.
Re Fat
August 13, 2009 - 10:44 ET by slickwillie2001I don't think she's any heavier than usual, she is just slouching down in these shots making her lower half more difficult to keep out of the shot. In our country the liberal media generally provides more flattering shots of her by keeping out the lower half. When she is sitting she generally prefers a desk of some kind to offer screening.
