During the Bush administration, do you recall the MSM ever describing a gay rights group such as the Human Rights Campaign as "far-left"? Neither do I. To the contrary, such organizations were sympathetically portrayed as proponents of mainstream values.
But let such groups criticize Pres. Obama and—what do you know?—the MSM suddenly decides they're "far-left." That's Joe Solomnese, head of the Human Rights Campaign, in the screencap, branded as far-left by the Early Show this morning.
Solmonese appeared as part of a segment this morning on the way that gay rights groups in general are disappointed with Pres. Obama for not doing more on behalf of their agenda. Isn't that convenient? By positioning them as "far-left," CBS places PBO in the middle, the victim of their attacks. Double-standard, anyone?

Far Left
June 18, 2009 - 07:50 ET by allanfWell actually "far-left" is an accurate term for someone to the left of Obama.
These groups should know better. Obama is merely waiting for the right momement to help is gay friends on this issue. He doesn't want to jeopardize his goverment power grab with gay rights at this point.
Is there no one who won't
June 18, 2009 - 08:00 ET by moderncommentaries83Is there no one who won't be thrown under the bus when it comes to Barack Obama?
If one good thing comes out of it, it helps confirm the notion that the more vocal gay-rights groups are really far-left (something conservatives have been saying for a while), and might give people pause before blindly accepting the agenda of these groups.

If Waterboarding was a sexual Preference
June 18, 2009 - 08:59 ET by Retired GeekLiberals would demand that Waterboards have the 'Right' to marry.
Liberals would demand that Waterboarding be taught in Public Schools as natural and normal.
Liberals would say that anyone opposing Waterboarding, are Bigot's and full of Hate towards Waterboarding.
Liberals would demand that Waterboarding become a 'Protected Class' and any 'Words' or 'Thoughts' against Waterboarding would be a 'Hate Crime'.
Whoa, you mean there is a 'far left'?
June 18, 2009 - 09:08 ET by slickwillie2001Someone to the left of the Bamster is extreme left, because the Bamster is already 'far left'. But this is a minor bit of good news, because the liberal media generally does not acknowledge the existence of anyone that is far left, at least domestically.
On the other hand, they consider anyone to the right of Olympia Snowe as an extremist.
Except for a few Democrat
June 18, 2009 - 13:05 ET by snaggletoothieExcept for a few Democrat politicians and most of the media 'the gay community' has little or no support. If the media put their own prejudices in proper perspective and just reported the news 'the gay community' would be barely a blip on any radar. It's a lot of sound and fury but little significance.

June 18, 2009 - 13:55 ET by mattmNot surprising at all. From the point of view of the people we refer to as libs and leftys, they are the center. As long as one group or another is agreeing with them, any reference to left or right, liberal or conservative, is unnecessary. It's only when someone opposes something important to them that the labels come out.
Their idol, Obama, is beyond criticism. So, anyone who criticizes him gets a label - far right, far left, extremist, fanatic, hater,...you name it. They occupy the Holy Center, everyone else is a fringe outsider.
BTW - I know some trawlers here might claim I'm being hypocritical because I use labels too. But the difference is that I don't claim to come from the center. I believe labels should be used - but not abused for demonization purposes, as the Holy Center people do - merely to identify where a person is coming from as it pertains to whatever is being discussed.

June 18, 2009 - 22:16 ET by bigtimerWow Mark....what a find!
I think this may be the first time I've heard a left network use the term 'far-left'....funny how they will do anything, and obviously anything, to protect their messiah and his actions, before and since the election.
Talk about delicious.
