Harold Ford, Jr. is the epitome of the equivocating politician who tries to play things both ways. But that strategy came a cropper for the MSNBC contributor on Morning Joe today.
Ford claimed that though Letterman was wrong to make sexual jokes about Sarah Palin's teenage daughter, somehow the Palins are "unique," and thus presumably an understandable target. Mika Brzezinski came down on him. A clearly uncomfortable Ford was soon seeking cover.

MIKA BRZEZINSKI: I wonder if it was the kid of Al Gore or Bill Clinton when he was president, or the Obamas, if that joke would ever be told.
JOE SCARBOROUGH: No, it never would.
HAROLD FORD, JR.: No, I disagree, I disagree. I've seen him go after --
BRZEZINSKI: But I mean this is an edge, this is an edge, to go after the kid and the issue of pregnancy in talking about a kid. I mean, come on. I'm talking about in this way.
FORD: Don't get me wrong. It was wrong. But I think he goes after, he's gone after—you do not have—the Palin situation is unique, and I don't want to get in the middle of their situation.
BRZEZINSKI: Why is it unique? I know a number of Democrats who have kids who have gotten pregnant.
FORD: Well --
BRZEZINSKI: Why is it unique?
FORD: I don't. Not at that—anyway, I don't want to get in the middle. He apologized.
BRZEZINSKI: Or have had problems with drugs.
SCARBOROUGH: Even though now the child is much older, there was a very powerful Democrat who everybody knew in Washington, their child had gotten in trouble with drugs --

SCARBOROUGH: And everybody stayed away from it, everybody protected that, that person. I think this is just an extension of the contempt that people have for the Palins on the East Coast. I'm not saying that she's a good candidate or she's a great politician. I'm not saying it. I'm just saying we've seen this from the first day that Sarah Palin has come onto the scene politically, nationally, the Palins have been treated like aliens from another planet. And been targeted. We saw it. I mean, the Daily Kos lies about Sarah Palin. And the media just chased it, they were rabid. We saw it the first night it broke. There's something about the Palins that make people --

Someone asked her what she believed in and she told them.
The point about Letterman is that his comments were disgusting. They were politically motivated by the left's hatred of Governor Palin. They were hypocritical in that no one would ever think to go after Barack Obama in this fashion. It wouldn't even CROSS THEIR MIND. So the almighty Dave mixed the perfect cocktail of liberal disbelief and the media served it.

Sarah is an attractive, intelligent woman who has run the state of Alaska successfully and has a high approval rating despite the gargoyles and their ethics complaints.
She's a competent governor who believes in small government and refused a pay raise when it was voted upon. She has self sacrificed with respect to things that she could have told the state of Alaska "pay for this"
She's pro-gun, believes in strong defense, and the sanctity of life. She talks the talk and walks the walk.
Despite digging, researching and more digging, there has never been a HINT of impropriety in terms of shady backroom deals, illegalities or immoralities. She's the cleanest candidate to come along in GOD knows how many years.
She is what MOST NORMAL PEOPLE want in a President. She's strong, decisive and personable
It is for all of this that she has been targetted for destruction. Immoral, evil people can not let goodness and righteousness thrive. She can't be bought duped or otherwise bribed.
Is Sarah perfect? Absolutely not. I'm sure she shouts at her kids from time to time, she certainly has flaws and I'm not worshipping her as the messiah like the Obamabots. But this woman TERRIFIES the left so much because of her broad appeal to most of mainstream America. Remember what Hillary Clinton's aides said "This woman's trouble".
That's why the Palins are unique. Washington can not have anyone changing the status quo.

In a related story, Michelle attended a Yankee's game. One awkward moment during the game. Maybe you heard about it or saw it on one of the highlight reels. But, given President Obeyme's love of abortion there are no worries. Those mistakes can have their brains sucked out and be killed just as they're coming out of the girls.

BUT, although I greatly admire your comedy writing skills, what Letterman did and the jovial reaction of the left and the MSM, tells the American people a lot more about them than it does about us.
That is THEIR STYLE, NOT OURS. The only thing that shocks me so far is the absence of the weak excuses that we normally see after something like this from balboa and a few others on here.
This mainly got deeply vitriol after Sarah's convention remarks about the MSM and the audience's reaction to them. A wonderful demonstration of the MSM's deep respect for free expression.
In the end, I have enormous confidence in the American People's, sense of fairness when sufficiently informed. Although with 90% of the MSM situated far to the left, it certainly tries our patience in the information absorption process. OBVIOUSLY, any Conservative celebrity who had made such comments (natty Ho's etc.) would be job hunting today.
I really believe that what Letterman did and the MSM/Left reaction, is another nail in their coffin and another boost for, not just Conservatives, but for a demand for common decency in the public again. I think that Letterman simply rustled up a whole lot of votes for my ideal ticket in 2012 of Gingrich/Palin.

Aren't democrats against guns???
Ophelia, his aunt, "won" election and subsequently fell off of bar stools and made ridiculous rants that would be humerous if 1) she wasn't an "elected" official representing our community and 2) suffering from alcoholism. Wait...I'm sorry...I think the official diagnosis was "exhaustion" or was it a "blood disorder". You can find her little rants on Youtube.
I could go on and on...but I won't. The Ford family is famous for scandal and corruption (administrative assistants who are also baby mamas with VERY high paying government jobs in lieu of child support...etc.). Numerous children out of wedlock. Numerous divorces. Harold Ford Jr. is supposedly the "clean" one of the bunch but I still say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I'm just waiting for his scandal to break.
