WARNING: Viewing the accompanying video could cause a dangerous rise in blood-sugar levels.

When Clarence Thomas was approaching his confirmation hearings, we all remember the touching, sentimental segments the networks ran on his challenging childhood.  Or not.

On today's GMA, ABC's Claire Shipman took a sentimental stroll down memory lane with Dr. Juan Sotomayor, Sonia's likable younger brother.  At one point, viewing a display about his sister in their old high school in the Bronx, Juan gets choked up.  And there's Claire, shown not once but twice reaching out a comforting arm to console the Sotomayor sibling.

Here was Shipman back in the studio.
CLAIRE SHIPMAN: What I love is that image of Sonia Sotomayor defending her little brother on the streets.  We're obviously going to learn a lot more about Sonia Sotomayor next month when the hearings begin.

ROBIN ROBERTS: And how proud he is of her, and how he had to walk away when he got so emotional.

SHIPMAN: He didn't want to talk about those tears.  I kept saying "tears are OK now, they're OK!"
Note: with all the shoulder-holding, Shipman didn't have time to ask Dr. Juan why he doesn't accept Medicare or Medicaid patients.

Hmmm, shouldn't that headline read "Saccharine Shipman Soothes Sotomayor Sibling"?

You know what? You're right!  Gotta keep the alliteration going!

There: that's better.

There: that's better. Thanks!

At the end Shipman says to

At the end Shipman says to her colleagues that she wanted to say to him "Tears are OK now!"

That's right..we have a metrosexual in the WH....tears are OK.

OK, I don't know what she was thinking; she may have meant that tears were OK in this situation.  But she obviously doesn't understand that for some men, they do NOT shed tears in public.

Maybe if she looked at as a Hispanic "macho" thing, she would get it.  Then it would be "cultural" and therefore OK for him to try to hide his tears.

I didn't think it was physically possible, but this both sucks and blows.  -Bart Simpson

Sotomayor's brother....

is such a compassionate fellow....

it's true.  He doesn't accept Medicare or Medicaid.  Here is the link to his website:

Click on the "More information" link below the "Non-Participating Insurances" (that sounds awkward for some reason).  Anyway, sounds to me like the good doctor doesn't want to hassle with old people.

When will the madness end?  Hopefully, January 20, 2013.

Everybody cry and say ahhhhh. How sweet.

taocpa.. thanks for the link

This entire charade is "so in one's face." Difficult not to believe that if this was a conservative leaning judge nominated by a Republican president - with health care reform on the table - that Shipman, or just about anyother MSM journalist out there, would not be ripping this doctor to shreds.

Letterman would have a top ten list on the nominee and their uncaring family members... "...and the number 1 reason to support the nominee, is to keep her young bro in the money - Cha ching $$"

And, taocpa, the reason that Dr. Juan Sotomayor doesn't accept Medicaid and Medicare patients, is not that they're old (he'll take money from anybody - if it's enough), it's because Medicaid and Medicare only pay a fraction what private insurers pay physicians. Doctors want to make a living wage. One of the big complaints from the average Joe on the street who supports a socialist system is, in their view, that the insurance companies are ripping off the physicians.

I hear this one all the time, "my doctor won't take Blue Cross." Well, that's because they don't want that smaller negociated fee - they want more. That physician definatley won't take Medical or Medicare assignment. The problem here on the street is that these average Joe people actually have been led to believe that the M's not only pay doctors more than private, but that they'll get better care at a lower cost.

Go to the local welfare or unemployment office and stand in line - get a preview of how a single payor system will function in the US, when it's run by congress.

Oh gag me with a

Oh gag me with a spoon.

When are we really ever going to get any reality news reports.

I know, I know, the 12th of Never.

Never-mind all the omissions Sotomayor left out of her questionnaire provided by the Judiciary Committee...heck, not a word about that in the msm as far as I know.

Jeff Sessions gave a very interesting floor speech about all of the blanks, omissions etc. yesterday...this is blatant folks...not just little hits and misses...there are huge blanks and omissions.
