Does Barney Frank think incest is worse than pedophilia? The question arises because, chatting with Andrea Mitchell this afternoon, here's how Frank reiterated his opposition to Barack Obama having granted Rick Warren the honor of pronouncing the invocation at the inauguration.
BARNEY FRANK: I think Rick Warren's comments comparing same-sex relationships to incest is deeply offensive, wildly inaccurate and very socially disruptive.
View video here.
But Warren didn't limit his comparison of gay marriage to incest. In the same statement in which Warren alluded to incest he also invoked polygamy and pedophilia.
So why did Frank single out, no pun intended, incest to the exclusion of pedophilia? As yucky [technical term] as is incest, isn't pedophilia, in which an adult preys on children, inherently more offensive and immoral? For that matter, specifically what is it that Barney Frank finds offensive about incest? Note: I've Googled Frank's comments on the subject, and if there's an instance in which he complained of Warren comparing gay marriage to pedophilia, I haven't found it. For some reason, Frank seems to have chosen to take offense specifically on account of the incest analogy.
Mitchell, unsurprisingly, didn't raise the issues with Frank. But wouldn't you like to see a member of the MSM pose those questions to Frank and hear how he answers? What are the odds it will happen?

I think Bwaney needs to look at the idea of changing marrige to something other than 2 people, exclusively a man and a woman should understand that incest could be involved in teh new definition along with beastiality and other equally discusting arrangemts. We are talking about changing socila covenants are we not, tehn why limit ourselves to what teh majaority thinks marriage should be. I mean we are throwing out the majaority opinion anyways.
I believe Warren was trying to illuminate the idea that homosexuality like incest is sin and not prescribed by God and the Bible. It was in fact proscribed.

Mon, 12/22/2008 - 18:46 ET by R D HelmBawney Fwank should be standing trial for his part in the current financial mess, as his involvement has been well documented. The fact that the idiot MSM, the so-called "watchdogs of the people," refuses to so much as even make a show of holding this totally corrupt individual responsible is rapidly approaching criminal negligence on their part.
With all of these stupid bailouts that have come about in large part because of the actions of Bawney and his merry band of pocket-lining thieves, We the People, just as our children and grandchildren will be, are currently being raped by the very same government that got us into this mess in the first place.
This is also the same government that incompetent idiots like Fwank and Dodd want to have running our health care system, with the willing duplicity of a now thoroughly corrupt MSM.
And no, I am not even remotely surprised that Bawney apparently finds incest to be more objectionable than pedophilia.

I didn't quite know how to put it myself...as far as I am concerned, you did for me.
He is a sickening creature...just like him saying he works with members of congress he thinks very little of, but he respects their opinions in terms of their views is just so much BS deluxe...and if any repubs had guts, they would speak their minds regarding Frank on his views, let alone the Fred/Fan his lover scandal from way back.
I give up anymore...they are terrified of the msm and PCness.

Mon, 12/22/2008 - 18:42 ET by bigtimerIt is just plain duct-tape time when it comes to Andrea, Franks or msnbc...
Why this man and his opinions matter is beyond me, he should have been expelled long ago from congress, served time behind bars, he should be being investigated now for his ethics (along with his lover who was very involved) when it came to Fred/Fan let alone a blue ribbon panel should have already been held for his very involvement in all of the collapse ect...with repubs shouting about all of this in unison leading the charge via the msm.
He is a walking, talking, crying shame when it comes to a member of congress, just as Andrea is when it comes to a member of the msm.
Pathetic is a nice word for now that I will use regarding all of this...after-all, it is Christmas time.

Mon, 12/22/2008 - 19:17 ET by iveseenitallJust heard Frank on t.v. His voice makes me sick. What this guy did years ago should have been enough to get him thrown out of Congress. But his culpability in the financial mess should put him behind bars. Yet the creep has no conscience. He thumbs his nose at everything good and decent in life. He is the poster boy for one who hides behind political correctness. He believes he is untouchable (which he probably is). Every American, straight or gay, should be disgusted by this poor excuse for a human being. But, of course, the poltroons in the MSM and elsewhere remain silent. Sad.

Mon, 12/22/2008 - 20:13 ET by R D HelmHaving read several of your posts here @ NB, I find it most entertaining that you consider yourself to be "tolerant," as it is painfully clear you are anything but. Then again, most liberals claim to be tolerant, yet are among the most intolerant, shallow-minded hypocrites around.
Of course, one of the unwritten rules of liberalism is for libs to accuse the other side of being what they themselves are.
Your elitist crack about people residing in the People's Republic of Taxachussetts being "the most educated" is just further evidence of a long-held belief of mine, which is that it is possible for people to be educated beyond their intelligence. In some cases, far beyond their intelligence.
The very fact that the "educated" voters of Massachusetts repeatedly return the likes of classless bottom-feeders like Ted Kennedy and Bawney Fwank to congress at every opportunity speaks volumes about their intellectual and moral bankruptcy.
What a joke you are.

Mon, 12/22/2008 - 19:24 ET by King of the BritonsI would like Barney to explain to everyone what principles / moral code he uses that sanctions and condones homosexual conduct and relationships but then prohibits and condemns incest / pedophilia / bestiality / necrophilia / etc. I just wonder what he uses to allow him to shamelessly parade his gayness while somehow managing to be offended by the other acts. It must be a nice place to live where one's conduct is always somehow justified but still allows for sanctimony when observing others' "offensive" behavior. But, he continues to get elected, and what does that say about our society? We shall continue to reap what we sow and for that reason, I continue to buy gold and guns.

Moral Codes
Mon, 12/22/2008 - 19:34 ET by catharSo, basically, you're saying that homosexuality is equivalent to incest/pedophilia/bestiality/necrophilia? And if so, would you say that Mary Cheney and her partner are guilty of those "sins?" And FYI, there are many "straight" people who are appalled at Rick Warren's statements. Interesting, though, Warren might be having a "road to Damascus" experience as he has changed his website and today, proclaimed that he loves gays and straights. The talented Melissa Etheridge, who sang at the event where Warren spoke, said that the selection of Warren represents a step towards the road to understanding and reunification. Course for some folks, there will never be an end to the eternal "culture" war where yer either fer me or agin me. Me, I have a condo on the Lake of Fire where I hold fabulous parties and everyone is invited - gay and straight!!!

As for Warren changing his website, I'm sure he does love gay people. He just doesn't approve of homosexual behavior.
Melissa Etheridge, who sang at the event where Warren spoke, said that

understanding and reunification
That's a bogus argument. She talks as if there is common ground that can be occupied. There isn't. "Understanding and reunification" simply means that eventually homosexual behavior must become acceptable to those who oppose it. And if you really think there is a "middle ground" then I challenge you to describe what concession gays are willing to make in order to achieve that.

I want to know by what moral code and principles does Barney, and apparently you, justify homosexual behavior and condemn the other behaviors? Is it simply an arbitrary set of principles that allows you to say that homosexuality is okay but having sex with your sister is not?

Pedophilia=abnormal
Incest=abnormal
Homo/bi-sexuality=abnormal
The only difference is that pedophilia and incest HURTS innocent children to a much great degree. That's also why you can be as 'queer' as you want to be, just don't start dictating to the rest of us that we have to accept it as "normal" and leave marriage alone.
Now that You have Equality Please Go Back Into the Closet
Tue, 12/23/2008 - 07:18 ET by Rush FanI can tolerate the gay lifestyle, and I support equal rights for gay couples. But I wish they would go back into the closet. I'm not interested in who someone is attracted to or what type of sex they practice. I believe that information should remain private. As long as a person behaves decently, it doesn't matter to me whether they are gay or straight.
The best estimate is that 10% or less of the population is gay. From all the attention they receive, you would think gays represent 50% of the population.
Gays are vocal and angry that California Proposition 8 (marriage defined as one man and one woman) passed, vocal and angry that Barack Obama hasn't selected gays for his cabinet, vocal and angry that they can't serve "openly" in the military, vocal and angry if they can't teach the gay lifestyle to grade school kids, and vocal and angry that Rick Warren will give President-elect Barack Hussein Obama's inauguration invocation.
I'm sure I have missed other issues that gays are vocal and angry about. I say ensure they have equal rights and then tell them to shut up about being gay. They are human beings just like the rest of us. Their sex life or who they are attracted to is irrelevant.
As for Barney Frank, it's not his gayness that offends me but his liberal views that will destroy this country if we let it.
