This whole Blago-Obama business. Really, it's just too ineffably tedious for someone of Mike Barnicle's stature. Can't we just move on? So seemed the Morning Joe panelist's attitude today.
Mika Brzezinski received Barnicle's blasé response to her question about possible interactions between Blago and Rahm Emanuel. [H/t tip reader Ray R.]
MIKA BRZEZINSKI: Mike Barnicle, does it matter if there were interactions between Rahm Emanuel and Blagojevich if they were above-board, and they blew him off?
MIKE BARNICLE: They're going to be above-board. [Nice of Mike to vouch in advance for Rahm.]
BRZEZINSKI: Well here's the thing: if they blew him off but they knew he was up to something?
BARNICLE: Look, what Obama has to do, clearly, hopefully sooner rather than later, cause this is, I mean, I'm going to have to tape my eyelids open with this story [as Barnicle illustrates in screengrab], is he's got to put the person out there, if it's Rahm Emanuel or anyone, who was the intermediary between the governor about the resignation of the senate seat. Just get it out there and then move on, because I mean this is getting pretty tedious, this attempted link with Obama and Blagojevich. It's getting pretty tedious.
Newsweek's Jon Meacham can be seen vigorously nodding his head in agreement with Barnicle. Seems there's consensus among the bien-pensant MSM. Let's drop this boring little item and get back to important matters, like, say, whether Pres. Bush would dare pardon Scooter Libby.

Obama has assured us that he did nothing wrong, and that neither he nor his staff were involved in the selling of the Senate seat. Fine, thanks for the assurance. The question, however, is -- did Obama know that Blagojevich was up to no good? If so (as the man about to become president), did Obama do anything to stop it?
Why are we suspicious? We know that
There are a lot of questions. The media is desperately trying to avoid asking them. I will make you a promise, however. But, as I have noted in the past, the NYT during that time was definitely no fan of the Clintons. The editor, Howell Raines, couldn't stand Bill. Also, there were reporters--like Gerson who wrote extensively and unfavorably about the Chinese/technology transfers--who were very independent, or even conservative-leaning and, in any event, were consisently critical of Clinton.
And, yes, they were the orignal architects of the journalistic investigation and pursued it with great vigor and for far longer than the Plame affair.
