Obama Only Bright Spot In Bummer Of A NYT Thanksgiving Article

It's a good thing Barack Obama was elected.  Otherwise, the nation's glum Thanksgiving mood might have been downright funereal.  At least, that's the impression the New York Times gives in its decidedly downbeat article about the holiday.

"In Lean Times, Comfort in a Bountiful Meal" tells the story of people from coast to coast virtually weeping into their turkey and cranberry sauce.  Whether it's a Los Angeles illustrator whose work has fallen 50%, a youngish Ohio husband and wife who've both lost their jobs, or even an equities trader on the Upper West Side who can't bear to open his personal investment statements, the prevailing mood is blue.

With one bright exception: at least we have Obama.

Reports the Times: "in Democratic homes, joy at Barack Obama’s election victory helped lift foul moods."  We're also informed that: "in a Las Vegas suburb, at a yearly gathering of about a dozen gay and lesbian friends at the home of Sigrid Brunel and Argentina Kapp, the mood was far cheerier than last year, when anxiety about the coming election and anger about the war in Iraq clouded much of the discussion."

Funny, the Times didn't find any Republicans whose Thanksgiving was made less joyous by the election of Obama.  And someone please check the archives for that NYT article from Thanksgiving 1980, reporting on Americans huddled around their Jimmy Carter Misery Index turkey giving thanks for the election of Ronald Reagan.

Oh, Oh, OhhhhhBama!!!

Yes, he sure makes a difference. I heard that they're getting rid of the dirty magazines and tapes in the donation rooms at the sperm banks and replacing them with a picture of "The One."

May Obama Bless You All..

My question is, will Obama be one of the three ghosts to visit GW this Christmas?

For the most part,

For the most part, Thanksgiving dinners were unchanged from previous years,

But what the hey, let's just find a few examples of misery and flog them to death.

Doesn't that just say it all?

Obama Thanks for Giving

Next Thanksgiving we will all rejoice after a year of 'change' and enjoy TWO turkeys per household, unlike previous years.

Let us give thanks in advance to the Messiah. May his blessings be upon you.

Excited about the first Affirmative Action President?

Is that some sort of joke?

Censored Global Warming Videos

Ineligible?

Would you say Affirmative Action is approximately synonymous with ineligible?

Impunitas semper ad deteriora invitat.

I think Obama should try to

I think Obama should try to save us all from Thanksgiving next year. Maybe he can dictate how we're suppose to act, what we will eat (tofu turkey?), how we're to dress, and what we'll be discussing.

Because, according to the Times, Americans can't think for themselves. WE NEED THE MESSIAH TO WIPE OUR BUTTS!!!!

Offensive post

Many people with carpal tunnel symdrome may benefit from such help, thank you very much!

Then they should just use

Then they should just use the hand that works best...

NYT RIP

I am looking forward optimistically to a Thanksgiving in the near future when our country is rid of the Satanic influence of the New York Times.

Impunitas semper ad deteriora invitat.

O' Lord Obama...our saving grace. NOT! LOL.

The new religion seems deeply rooted in the media, huh?

According to leading trends experts Andre Eggelletion and Gerald Celente we will be lucky to have food next thanksgiving. The Fed has created a economic crises that no one, not even "The One" can fix. G.C. stated there is no way of the government to fix the up coming crises. Only delay it. After 2 years of an economic 9/11 people are not buying. Even with gas prices down people are not buying. The bailouts, unemployment and general distrust in media as well as government have people scared.

This holiday season will make or break us. Come February it's projected that a slew of retail stores will be closing down. Unemployment will skyrocket and taxes will skyrocket by a year.

Housing market is about to collapse, manufacturing is nearly dead. Major appliances, heavy machinery, autos, big ticket items are not selling. G.C. clients are currently asking "…how do we keep what we have?" instead of "…expanding the business?"

It's been reported by gun shop owners that people are expecting a collapse and are buying ammo and guns as potential tools for trade for food. Also people are expecting riots!

Eggelston predicted if we start the turnaround now--it will still take ten years to recover from this. We haven't started the turnaround; just dug ourselves a deeper hole.

The days of "Black Friday" shopping rushes are coming to an end. In my area it's obviously changing. Remember, Rochester was affected by bad trade policies first!! This area is a barometer of future trends. It also takes Rochester twice as long to recover from a recession as stated by our state Governor.

They are predicting a return of main street. Basically people will not be traveling as much and will buying things locally. The "...old way will be the new way..." if things continue. So far, it's going exactly like these two guys said it would.

It’s already started in my area. People are going back to mom and pop stores, craft shows are returning, less traveling, more local business are getting customers. Local diners are doing good, local grocery store has seen an increase in business. People are staying in more. When they do go out to eat it’s local diners. We’re seeing a return to community living. That’s not really a bad thing either.

If things continue the government will not need to subsidize farmers because there will be a local demand for goods. Local beef, poultry, milk, eggs. We could see a return of the local butcher, local bakery, local dress maker. Communities will become self sufficient.

Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

Another OBummer

When Obamunism comes to America in January, we will all get to quit work and collect our free pies, gas money and mortgage money -- until the money runs out, or the printing presses break down.

See Hugo Chavez for how Communism has worked out for Venezuela.

No matter who tells you different, there is no such thing as a free lunch. Someone always pays.

 Obama would have made my

Obama would have made my thanksgiving brighter and happier, I could have used a house negro to clean up the mess.
